The Puglia/Molise region
Areas surrounding the village of Peschici include a National park with hills reaching up to 1.000 m. Cozy 5 min. walk through the old town to a wonderful sandy beach. Excellent area for fishing, diving, hiking and boat excursions. Enchanting village, with many excellent restaurants, a daily produce market and a full assortment of shops. The Garganic Peninsula is listed on an exclusive list of cultural heritage areas of Europe. Covering religion, arts, handicrafts, biology, zoology and folkloristic heritage. More than 300 specimens of orchids are found here, and more than 2000 zoological species that are unique to the area.
Gargano / Peschici area
Ancient historic centre from year 970, dramatically situated on a cliff 80 m above the waves, directly on the Adriatic Coast. Winter population of the village is around 5 000 inhabitants.
Being protected by the Holy St Elia, Peschici has its major annual religious spectacle in the period between 17th and 22nd July. However you will find both this village and the surrounding villages in celebrating both their own and any catholic or worldly celebrity at any occasion throughout the year. In fact you would find it hard not to find any spectacle of cultural, popular or religious carachter going on in the summer season in this region. Check www.agitur.it/contatore/gb/index_ing.html and www.garganotouring.it/evento%20home%20page/Festival/Festival%20Gargano.htm
How to get there
Ryanair covers both Pescara and Bari, both in a driving distance of 2 hrs from the house. From Rome and Napels the distance is 3,5 to 4 hrs drive.
The best deals you can often get on car hire is with Maggiore, and they normally have the shortest waiting line when Ryanair flights arrive..
From Bari and Pescara you can also use train service www.trenitalia.it, stopping at San Severo and choose the private train/bus line to Peschici http://www.ferroviedelgargano.com/, or use taxi service from San Severo (cuts the travel with an hour).

Further details indoors: The two floors of the house are openly connected, with livingroom and kitchen/diningtable integrated upstairs and the separate master bedroom and cot downstairs. Bathroom upstairs.
The house is furnished in a style of "times gone by", but in full modern style when it comes to mechanical and material demands in the kitchen and bathroom. Lack of space prevented us from installing a dishwasher and a clothes dryer, but all other modern comforts are present.
Fully equipped to serve a household of 6, but we would normally recommend the house to be used for max 4/5 people, 5 goes well with one being a small child, sleeping in the master bedroom.
24/7 internet connection and stereo with Ipod docking station is being installed this spring.
Further details outdoors: We would not be right in focusing on the little sunny, private spot, opposing the piazza, in front of the main gate of the house. The spectaculus beaches, streets and hills, which you will find a few minutes walk from the main gate, are the main reasons for you to stay here.
Having a car or not, you can find several excursions to make on sea or land, including the remarkable trip to the sanctuary in Monte San Angelo, where the St Michael appeared in the 5th century. The region also holds a newly opened, enormous chapel in memorance of Padre Pio, who operated out of a monostary in the mountains.
The area is excellent for hiking, bicycling, fishing, scuba diving and lazy walks. Not to speak of exploring the various specious of fauna and flora here that are exclusive to this peninsula. Free from stress, and the locals are still not overwhelmed by tourism, but still curius to know whatever you might have to bring to them of personal, curious novelties.
The typical Peschiciani has not been further away than perhaps Rome, and may not have left the Gargano Peninsula ever, even at the age of 80.
Further details
The house is centuries old and might not meet modern building standards, but all technical and electrical fittings meet the standards of 2007. There are no special child securities made to electrical sockets.

Guestbook for Topolina
Mark & Lori, a fantastic and artistic couple from Nashville Tennessee, rented one of our other properties for two months in September and October 2008, what better than letting them depict in photos, paintings and words their impressions of Peschici look into http://italy.markandlori.com/resources/photo_galleries.php, the verbal depicts are found under their "Journal" flag. __ Nous venons de rentrer d'Italie. Nous avons fait un très bon séjour à Peschici et nous avons beaucoup aimé la Topolina. Quelle belle région le Gargano surtout dans les belles journées de novembre sans touristes ! Merci, Cordialement Roselyne _____ Dear Anita, David and i have now returned to cold rainy Britain after our sunny and warm holiday in La Topolina/Peschici, which was so lovely. So we just wanted to say that the little house was great and we very much enjoyed our stay there. With best wishes, Kristina (September 2008)
