The Puglia/Molise region
The region of Puglia occupies the "heel" of Italy, and is known for it's rugged beauty, history and fine climate, with abundant rainfall in Winter, but long, dry Summers. To the south are the "Trulli", typical and quaint houses, the beautiful city of Lecce- known as the "Florence of the South, to the North, the lakes of Lesina and Varano, the stunning Gargano peninsula ( where the house is located ) an area of forests and natural beauty. The islands of Tremiti are situated approx 40km off the coast here, accessible by daily ferry trips from the Marina in Peschici.
The Old walled "Centro Storico" in Peschici was first established in 907 AD, and features lovely whitewashed mediaeval buildings, narrow cobbled streets, two churches, many restaurants ( including the award-winning "Porta di Basso" ) and numerous local craft shops, from hand made ceramics, local art and wood-carving. Drink fine Puglian wine at the "Enotica di Colantonio" literally set in the old gate tower, dine on local fish, freshly-landed in the Marina below, or simply on Pizza and local pasta. The area boasts no less than seven fine beaches, with good swimming in season.

"Fantastic holiday home in a beautiful setting"
We've stayed at this house 3 times and found it wonderful in all respects. the views from the house are great, it's spacious, comfortable and easy to spend time in. It was particularly hot last Summer when we stayed with my partner and two young sons, so we mainly took our meals on the cool veranda outside. The house has a nice "rustic" kitchen, and, as a keen cook, I had no problem rustling up delicious meals from the ingredients bought on our local shopping trips. We loved the old town of Peschici, and found a good few very good restaurants and pizzeria in the area. Definitely looking forward to going again, and have already booked for this Summer!
