From the owner

New Barn is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Broad Chalke in the renowned Chalke Valley. The cottage has a wonderful southerly outlook over water meadows, the river and the church tower beyond. Enjoy wonderful walking, cycling and nature rambling directly from the property along a variety of tracks and paths into the surrounding hills and explore the chalk downland.

New Barn has a downstairs double bedroom and twin beds upstairs. The property also has a fully fitted kitchen, bath and shower and a small living room area.

Visitors should be aware that the owners' house is located next door to the cottage.

The property has a large garden (1 acre) which is shared with the owners.

The medieval city of Salisbury is little more than 10 minutes away and attractions here include Salisbury Cathedral, independent shops and market, theatre, cinema and restaurants. Stonehenge and Salisbury Plain are located just 25 minutes away and are popular with visitors.

The pretty village offers a pub and a combined shop, Post Office and Coffee shop.The cottage is an excellent base to visit historic Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath and the coast. Additional attractions further afield include Longleat, Stourhead and Winchester.

I am very sorry to hear that your visit was so disappointing. You should have been told in advance that the welcome pack had been discontinued due to Covid restrictions. Making up your own bed and stripping it at the end of your stay was also the recommendation during Covid. Thank you for pointing out the cleanliness issues. We will make sure that these issues are resolved for future guests. Once again we are very sorry that you had such an unsatisfactory stay.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Emma (the owner) a message.

If Emma (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
