MAGICAL "doll's house castle" on clifftop leading to a gloriously uncrowded sandy beach. Come and enjoy our special place - a gothic, castellated cottage in parkland on Ramsgate's East Cliff. Great for winter, spring and summer breaks. Enjoy stunning beaches, hidden coves and lovely walks, before returning to our unique, cosy home.

The charming house, built in 1798, was the gatehouse of Sir Moses Montefiore's estate, where the great philanthropist entertained the young Princess Victoria. It is situated midway between bustling Ramsgate and delightful Broadstairs. Walk along the beach or clifftop and within minutes you come to Dumpton Gap, an off-the-beaten track cove where you can breakfast at Sam's beach shack in spring and summer months, after exploring the rock pools or building a sandcastle.

There is lots of activity nearby: tennis, golf, sailing, swimming, walking, surfing, cycling, birdwatching, fishing, boat trips to see the seals, Ramsgate's unique network of tunnels once used as air raid shelters by the town's population.

There are excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance, lots of historic sites, five-miles of sandy bays, zoos and animal parks for kids.

We have updated the Gate House to make it more flexible. There are three double bedrooms. The main bedroom has a romantic four-poster and bedroom two is furnished with comfortable single beds. The third bedroom has full-sized bunk beds. There is a travel cot and highchair for babies. Jack's cabin is now a lovely shower room, with walk-in shower plus basin and loo.

Downstairs you step into a long lounge, with wooden floors and shutters, TV with Sky channels and many board games and books. The cottage also has WiFi. There is a downstairs loo and a rather sweet study. The kitchen is well equipped, with gas cooker, washing machine, microwave etc.The house is cosy in all weathers and has an excellent central heating and hot water system. We provide good quality duvets and pillows - guests only have to bring their own bed linen.

Outside there is a pretty, enclosed courtyard garden and a sunny side patio. If you want to bring a pet, please discuss with us. We are happy to accept small, well-trained animals but the cottage is not suitable for big dogs.

You can hear the boom of sea as you lie in bed. Bird song all around. House fronts on to extensive local park, once part of the Montefiore Estate. Short walk to sea. One minute walk to beautiful listed Italianate greenhouse (which still protects 200 year-old vines) once belonging to the big house. Children's play area in park, woodland, picnic spots. Lovely walks, starting from front door, invigorating sea air. We are happy to extend a welcome to good-natured pets. You can be on a sweeping beach in minutes. Turn right from the front door and you reach historic Ramsgate with its beautiful Regency architecture, turn left and you walk to the delightful resort of Broadstairs, where Dickens wrote some of his wonderful books. On a clear day you can see France.
