Unique, elegant and characterful self-contained apartment in our newly restored period town-house.

Ideally located in a quiet residential street 5 minutes walk from York Minster and the hustle and bustle of the city centre with its museums, fine restaurant dining and shopping. 8 minutes walk from York station.

With an eye for the unusual and attention to detail Royal College of Art graduates David and Anita have created the perfect, dreamy get-away.

Selected by Alistair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay' (the only one in York). This spacious apartment has been lovingly restored and styled by its artist owners and features their original artworks (paintings/lights). The apartment has solid oak flooring, antique Persian rugs and a combination of period French and contemporary designer furniture which contributes to the apartment's special character. A stunning set of 18th century chateau doors divide the living and bedrooms and provide the 'wow factor'.

A welcome basket of Prosecco or red or white (please let us know in advance) olives, artisan made bread, preserves, cereals, organic eggs, fruit juice, Betty's/Yorkshire tea and ground coffee provided for your own breakfast.

The living room with its vintage linen covered chesterfield sofa, large format art books, 42" Smart HD TV with Freeview, DVD player is perfect for a cosy night in.

Wet-room style bathroom with walk-in shower, heated towel rail, underfloor heating and plenty of white fluffy towels (organic eco shower gel and shampoo etc.)

The kitchen - reclaimed slate work-tops, Victorian tiled floor. Induction hob, oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster etc. Washer-dryer, steam iron and ironing board.

The apartment is within our family house but completely private and with its own entrance. Your hosts are on hand, though, for advice on local attractions, restaurants and places to visit for day trips.

York's many attractions, including The Minster, Yorkshire Museum and Gardens, Treasures House, Fairfax House, Castle Museum, National Railway Museum, City Walls, Theatre Royal, City Screen Cinema, Betty's famous Tea Rooms are all 5-10 minutes walk away as well as beautiful riverside walks and restaurants, pubs and bars too numerous to mention.

A walk through the tranquil Museum Gardens, a couple of minutes away, past the medieval ruins of St. Marys Abbey and the restored 3rd century Roman Multangular tower brings you into the pedestrianised heart of the city.

York station (with coach stops for excursions to Whitby, Castle Howard and the coast) 8 minutes walk.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

Go to Manage your holiday booking to view all your booking details, pay the balance of your holiday or cancel it if you need to.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

You can pay the remaining balance of your holiday at any point. Simply go to Manage my holiday booking and click Pay now.

We’ll automatically charge the balance payment to the same payment method 10 days before it’s due. Go to Manage my holiday booking to see when the payment will be taken.

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact ANITA + DAVID (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send ANITA + DAVID (the owner) a message.

If ANITA + DAVID (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
