Casa Mari Carmen is a modern, south facing, 3 bedroom villa with private pool and terraces in a peaceful location within a few minutes drive of the pretty white village of Cómpeta, know as 'the pearl of the Axarquia', approximately an hour from Malaga Airport (all on paved roads - no tracks) and 30 minutes from the coast.

A short distance from the village, beautiful Sierra Almijara mountains and National Park, the nearest bar is only a 20 minute walk away (approx).

Set amongst 2,900 sqm of grape vines, olive and fruit trees with fantastic views across the mountains and valleys down towards the Mediterranean Sea, the villa is the ideal location for a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable holiday or base for those wishing to walk, cycle, climb or bird-watch.

Casa Mari Carmen is approached via a gated entrance to a level driveway with parking for a number of cars.

Through an archway and shingled garden you reach the covered porch with wicker dining table and chairs providing an ideal place to relax or dine, soaking up the views while avoiding the heat of the sun.

The front door opens into the open plan sitting/dining room with wooden beams, fireplace, sofa, easy chairs and a large dining table and chairs. There is WiFi internet access, satellite TV (some free to air European satellite channels), DVD player and a radio/CD player. A window looks across the hillsides and patio doors lead out to the swimming pool and terrace area.

An archway leads into the fully fitted kitchen with window overlooking the covered porch. Fully equipped with granite worktops, halogen hob, electric fan oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, Dolce Gusto capsule coffee maker and filter coffee maker etc you should have everything you need for a relaxing stay. A clothes airer, iron and ironing board are also available.

From the sitting/dining room a further archway leads to a light and airy corridor off which there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom.

With doors opening onto the pool area, the master bedroom has a double bed, large built in wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and chair and an en-suite with shower, toilet and sink.

Bedroom two has two single beds and large built in wardrobe.

A travel cot and high chair are available on request.

The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet, bidet and sink.

All windows have built-in shutters, most with fly screens.

Outside there is a 8x4m swimming pool (closed during the winter months) with terracing around, a pool-side shower and brick built barbecue with outside sink to make the most of the summer sunshine. Sun beds, tables, chairs and umbrellas are provided for relaxing by the pool.

A terrace to the front of the villa, fenced by a low hedge, offers further views of the surrounding countryside.

The house is cleaned prior to arrival with bed linen and towels provided for use at the villa (please bring your own beach towels). We ask that the house is left tidy with any washing up done and the barbecue clean.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Casa Mari Carmen, liked the village of Competa and had such lovely weather during your stay. Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that you felt you needed air conditioning. We're very careful to ensure that the list of what's included at the villa is accurate, including the fact that there's no air conditioning, so that guests can make an informed decision when booking. It's good that you've reiterated this for future guests should they miss it. Although there is no air conditioning, we do provide fans in every room, which previous guests have found adequate. We do make use of IKEA in the kitchen – as you will know from your own experience, things do get broken and we need to be able to replace them with matching items very quickly (and at a reasonable cost) in order to maintain a constant level of equipment for all guests. With regard to the bathroom – both bathrooms have a large mirror and shelf which previous guests have found sufficient for their needs. But we welcome your feedback on this and will address it should it prove to be an issue with future guests. Thank you again for your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Why can't I call Ian (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Ian (the owner) a message.

If Ian (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
