The Algarve region
The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal and it's one of Europe's favourite holiday destinations well known for glorious year round sunshine, glorious sandy beaches from vast beaches that extend for as far as the eye can see to secluded coves, excellent golf courses and fine cuisine. The area also has interesting historical towns and quiet getaways i.e. Silves the old Moorish capital and the lively Loule market. In short, there is something for everyone.
Gale Beach area
On the Algarve close to Albufeira lies the small village of Gale. The apartment offers a fantastic location for beach holidays, as the apartment is only a 5 min walk from Gale beach or a short drive or stroll to many other beautiful beaches. You are also only a 5-minute walk to the Salgados golf course, one of the Algarve’s most beautiful and ecologically friendly golf courses. The apartment is set in a quiet tranquil area where you can relax & enjoy the Algarve's warm sunshine yet only a ten minute drive to Albufeira where you can enjoy all the life of this thriving tourist resort. Some other enjoyable activities that are possible are:
A visit to the Zoo-Marine only 5 KM away in Guia, the sea life theme park, to swim with dolphins or enjoy one of the fantastic aquatic shows. Alternatively head to one of four water parks along the coast – Slide and Splash in Lagoa has rides for all ages. Shop for pottery at Porches, a picture-postcard village near to Lagoa. Walk the ramparts of the 12th Century citadel in the ancient Moorish capital Silves. Head into the Monchique mountains and sample the clear waters of an historical Roman spa. Watch the sunset at ‘Fim do Mundo’ - Portugal’s own Lands End at Cape St Vincent. Shop at the Algarve Shopping in Guia only 7 KM from the apartment or in the nearby outlet shops e.g. Nike – then try your hand at ten-pin bowling or watch a film. Head to Guia only 5 KM away and sample the world famous Portuguese dish Chicken Piri-Piri
How to get there
Many airlines including budget airlines fly from throughout Europe direct to Faro. Other alternatives are to fly & drive from either Lisbon or Seville. From Faro airport, it is a short 30-35 minute journey by car to Gale. At the airport, there are many options for car hire or you may simply decide to take a taxi. Either way getting to the apartment is straightforward and simple. Full detailed directions will be provided at time of booking.
