Home description

Sleeps 4/5. 2 bedroom apartment in Gale, near Albufeira. In a small quiet complex of 11 apartments. Large private pool for shared use. Private furnished patio overlooking pool. A short walk to Gale's magnificent beach and several excellent restaurants.
The Salgados golf course is a few minutes' drive away. Albufeira, Algarve Shopping, Zoo Marine and Aqualand Algarve are within 10 minutes' drive. The historic town of Silves is nearby, with the ancient Moorish citadel. Portimao, the regional centre, has excellent shops and is 30 minutes' drive away, as is the marina at Vilamoura.

The Algarve region

The Algarve is a famous and historic region, the Cape of St Vincent being the last landfall viewed by the ancient explorers. The region was a major Moorish outpost for several centuries, and the Arab 'Al Gharb' ('the West) represented the fort at Silves, still intact today. Al Gharb became Algarve.
The region is noted for the best all-year climate in continental Europe, and warm days are not uncommon in November and December. Because of this, the area is popular for family holidays, adventure holidays, bird-watching and golf.


Gale Beach area

Gale beach is a vast expanse of sand, clearly visible from the air when approching Faro airport from the West. In the Summer months lifesavers are on duty, and therefore it is an excellent beach for families. There is a spectacular coastal path, from which the typical Algarve scenery and a multitude of wild flowers can be seen. There are 3 restaurants at the beach and numerous others nearby (ncluding Vila Joya with 2 Michelin stars ,for special occasions). The holiday town of Albufeira is not far away, with night-life for teenagers, Aqualand and the famous sand-sculpture park are close to Alcantarilha, only a few km away. Algarve Shopping, a large mall, is located in Guia, and several surrounding towns have open-air markets on certain days.

From Faro Airport: : Leave airport & follow signs to Faro/Portimao. Take exit to A22 Portimao (blue sign indicating motorway). You are now on the EN125 travelling west. Take the A22 exit to Liboa/Portimao.

On the A22, travel west for about 27km, taking the second exit at junction 9 (marked Guia). Keep in the right-hand lane on the main road towards the coast for a short distance & take the next exit to Guia. You will pass Algarve Shopping on the left & Makro on the right before entering Guia. At the large roundabout in Guia go left and pass through the town. There is a large apartment block on the right about 600m from the roundabout. Immediately after the apartments turn right (poorly signposted to Gale Praia) & keep going straight on for several km, passing through the town of Valle de Parra

The approach to Gale is dominated by the Vila Gale Atlantico (large hotel on the top of the hill with letter G visible). Gale Gardens apartments are on your right opposite Grelha Ti Manel restaurant & before the first roundabout in Gale. The gates (see picture below) are now straddled by an arch which reads ‘Gale Garden’.

Conditions

Strictly no smoking except on the balcony.
Refundable breakages deposit of £100 required by post 6 weeks in advance, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
25% of rental fee due on booking (non-refundable), and the remainder six weeks before your stay.
