A wonderful gite built within an old traditional stone barn, having comfortable furnishings and good size bedrooms - This property has 15 great reviews via Trip Advisor - so don't miss out on a lovely location for a holiday in SW.France.

Outside is a good size terrace for Alfresco dining, with a Gazebo for shade during the day and evenings, a table and chairs, plus a nice Gas BBQ. The private swimming pool is also located within the garden of the Gite and is for gite guests only (sole use).

Located along a nice private lane with no passing traffic, the setting is peaceful and relaxing with views over the swimming pool, meadows and into the forest, you also have direct access to wonderful foot-paths for walking, cycling, jogging, horse-riding, bird-watching or for taking a nice leisurely stroll

This Gite is a wonderful location for families, friends or couples, who enjoy scenery, sunshine, medieval history, gastronomic restaurants, local produce markets, great local wines, and wonderful countryside. The setting is in the countryside, but is also convenient for local shops.

Chateau Bonaguil is 3mins by car and there are three nice restaurants located at the foot of the Chateau, plus Chateau de Bonaguil is open to the public for guided tours, evening concerts, medieval displays, and a wonderful place to explore

This region of SW.France has lots of local vineyards for wine-tasting, gastronomic restaurants, swimming lakes with sandy beaches, Parc-en-Ciel (Park in the Sky) for a real adventure or for pure relaxation you can stay by the swimming pool and enjoy.

Taxe de Sejour 70 cent's per adult per day for the duration of your vacation.

Please note that there is a small tax which is called a 'Taxe Sejour' it goes towards the to the commune of Fumel.

The tax is 70 cents per day per adult from 1st May - 30 Sept. You will find this is very normal in France and is normally added to your bill in hotels etc......

The tax can be deducted from your security deposit or you can pay the owners the amount at the end of your stay and they will pay it into the commune.

March, April & May - Wisteria-draped villages, Chateaux & old stone barns, blossom on the trees and rose scented bastides, the return of the swallows and tiny birds busily building their nests - Spring is in the air!

June & July - Fields of happy warm sunflowers, a soft warm breeze, Lavender fields bursting with life, it's the hum of happy honeybee's

Aug & Sept - Maturing Grapevines, ripen for harvesting, the regions full bodied Melbec wines of Cahors ready for you wine tasting experience in the Vallee of Le Lot.

The Fumel / Bonaguil area

Bonaguil is a protected area of outstanding beauty, Gite Borie Bonaguil is situated very near by to Chateau Bonaguil, a place everyone can enjoy, for pure relaxation : walking, running, cycling, VTT, horse-riding, bird-watching, artists on holiday who love scenery, landscapes and history, or take a boat trip along the river Lot, slopping hills, wooded valley's, sunflowers, lavender fields, vineyards and breathtaking history.

Budding golfer - Golf courses in the area within 15mins or 30mins

For Horse riding there are professional stables yards offering pony trekking for amateurs, intermediate and advance plus organised riding tours from Borie if you wish.

Swimming lakes - open daily throughout the summer, a great place for sunbathing and swimming. Lakes are located Montaigu de Quercy and Prats du Perigord (Prats Plage), where you will find sandy beaches and children play areas, you can take a picnic or have lunch at the restaurant or cafe

Lot et Garonne, Le Lot & Dordogne renown for fishing - Fishing permits are normally required, readily available from Angling Shops or local Tourist Information Offices. Angling Federation publish a booklet each year about the rivers and the rules, permits are called 'Carte de Peche'.

Walibi Leisure Park, situated close to Agen, offers a great day out for all, rides, shows and special events offer a dynamic contrast to many of the other activities in the region. Open from May through to the end of October, the park is nestled in over 30hectares beneath the gaze of an 18th century castle.

Parc en Ciel - Feeling Energetic! Five rope courses in the trees, two small courses for children, and three progressively more difficult courses for adults. Harnesses & instruction are included. A rural location for taking a picnic, situated at Lacapelle-Biron, approx 20minutes from Borie. Opens every day between 9am-8pm throughout July and August, and at weekends outside these months a fun day for all.

Local tourist info centres can provide good maps and leaflets, provide you with information for whats going on during your stay. The nearest offices are located in Fumel, Duravel, Prayssac, Villefranche du Perigord. Easy to find in any local town and the staff are always very helpful and normally can speak english.

Flights direct to Bergerac with RyanAir or Flybe from airports across the UK or Flights into Toulouse with Easyjet. Driving remains a popular way to travel, not only do you eliminate the need of car hire, you will also have room to take home some of the delights you will experience during your holiday. Crossing the Channel : Ferry operators Brittany, P&O and Sea France or by Train take the Euro-tunnel which only takes 35 minutes Dover to Calais Once in France, the drive should normally take between 8-10hrs, or a leisurely drive with an overnight stop at a B&B to take in the beautiful scenery on the way. People normally drive down to Cahors and then drive up through Le Lot as this seems to be the quickest and easiest route down, having a SatNav to make life a little easier as well as a map is a good idea! Car Hire - Car hire at the airport, companies offer a wide range of vehicles and have offices at Bergerac, Toulouse and Bordeaux - one of the hire companies that offer very competative rates at Bergerac is Buggs Car Hire - their website is Buggscarhire.co.uk

“WHAT A GREAT TIME. VERY RELAXING” A much needed holiday for my wife and I, Gite Borie is the perfect place to come and relax and unwind, a lovely part of France, lots to do and see or just chill by the pool. The Gite is more spacious that we anticipated and the bed was very comfortable. Karen & Andy are the perfect owners. They are around if needed, but not, if not required. The Gite is very well equipped and is not overlooked and we felt at home straightaway. We were spoilt by the privacy and quiet of the view of the horses, paddocks and forest. At night we could star gaze, which we no longer seem to see in the UK......A wonderful holiday for us both to recharge our batteries, we will return! “Fantastic well equipped gite in a peaceful and tranquil location” Borie was by far the best Gite we have stayed at in France. Very clean and well presented, decorated,equipped and spacious with good sized bedrooms (and very comfortable beds with good quality bedlinen). The outside terrace with metal covered gazebo overlooking the pool was perfect for staying in the shade, watching the boys in the pool and eating outside. Gas Fired BBQ was absolutely fantastic and something we would definately recommend for other gite owners looking at this but also for guests! Private Pool was a good size and benefitted from direct access and visibility from the gite - unlike some other gites we have stayed at. Dogs are welcome with prior agreement which is very helpful to us but no smells or evidence - proof that dogs and pets can be accommodated with no problem and that there are responsible pet owners out there aswell!!! “Relaxed bliss, with a license to roam!” If you are looking for a quiet corner of France to call your own look no further. “Friendly, very relaxing holiday - good food, great company.” We stayed in Karen and Andy's B&B in Devon on several occasions which was the best and friendliest B&B we have ever stayed in and could not fault. Since they have left Devon we have not been able to find a B&B to match. The standard was equivalent to a 4 star hotel, but cheaper. We have just returned from a week in Le Hameau de Borie which all five members of our party really enjoyed. The gite is the nicest one we have ever stayed in and the pool was always beautifully clean and the right temperature to swim in. Karen and Andy are brilliant hosts and make you feel very welcome and one of the family. The dogs are never any trouble and are very friendly. We will definitely return within the near future. Andy took us on a tour of the estate in his toy which was a great adventure. “Just go..... great Gite,great hosts,great location......!” This is a beautifully located and a very well appointed Gite in a stunning part of France. We had a wonderful week. Karen and Andy were always on hand to ensure we had a great time. The Gite has everything you could want.We are a family of five and we had plenty of room to relax. It's set in 55 acres with some beautiful woodland walks on your doorstep. You feel in the middle of the countryside yet you are only a 1o minute drive to the Hypermarche and a very pleasant retail park. There's also loads to do. Some great places to visit and more than enough to keep the kids very happy. We didn't get to use the pool as the weather was a little wet! But we will when we next return which we will. “Relaxing, tranquil environment.” We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Borie. The owners were most helpful with advice on the region. All information in the Gite was perfect. “Excellent Property and Friendly Owners” Great gite, excellent facillities & all very clean. Made to feel very wellcome by Karen and Andy and their family of dogs, cats and horses. Karen went out of her way to arrange horse riding for our daughter and our son enjoyed the freedom of their woods. Fantastic views to gaze over while resting by the pool. Good supermarket near by and lots of places to visit if you can drag yourself away from this excellent gite. This is the first review we've ever written for a holiday which sums up how good it was. “Lovely Gite, in rural french setting, ideal for family who like to be away from the crowds.” Gite is lovely, well appointed, good kitchen and bathrooms, with sole use of the pool. The pool is not large, but was fantastic for kids (10 and 7) who were in it constantly. Karen and Andy are very friendly and very relaxed, and great with children, who followed them both around the farm. Dillon the dog, was a great hit, and spent many hours asleep on our patio. The Lot Valley is much quieter than the Dordogne, but with beautiful chateaux, towns, markets. If you are looking for a relaxed holiday, away from the crowds, in a nice gite, we would recommend this. “Families with Children - Safe with Space in a beautiful spot” Although a little of the main tourist trail the welcome of Karen and Andy gave made the effort worthwhile, combine this with enough space for even larger chidren to run amok within the grounds in saftey combined with the lovely, (safe) pool made it an ideal location to unwind and vist the local area with the castle and resteraunts at Bonaguil a particular favourite. “excellent location and super friendly hosts” i have visited a few times now and have always had a wonderful stay. the hosts are great people with a good working knowledge of the locality and are very welcoming. dylan the dog and the horses too are great with the family. the accommodation is very comfortable and the setting truly wonderful. it's a great place for viisting the many local sites of interest,or if you prefer as we did on many days, simply to laze by the pool or go for a woalk and explore the forests on the property itself. can't wait for my next visit!
