L'Oiseau Chantant is a lovely, large villa in the picturesque village of Fuilla is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, an hour from beaches on the Mediterranean, and an hour from resorts in the high Pyrenees. Ideal to get away from it all, you can relax in the garden or pool side, where all you can hear is the birds singing, the stream trickling and the bells of the clock tower chiming in the centre of the village.
The house has been renovated and fitted with good quality furniture, beds and a refurbished kitchen. All the soft furnishings and curtains are new. You can expect beautiful crisp new bed linen and fluffy towels.
The house is suitable for winter letting as it is heated throughout with the added bonus of a cosy log fire.
If you choose this villa the owner hopes that you and your partner, family and friends will experience a binding time together during your stay.

Sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms, or 12 if using the sofa bed in the lounge.
Bedroom 1 (Orange) has twin beds with patio doors out to the gardens.
Bedroom 2 (Mauve) has a king sized bed with patio doors out to the gardens.
Bedroom 3 (Pink) has a king sized bed window out on to the garden. En suite shower, WC and hand basin.
Bedroom 4, master suite has a king sized bed with a comfortable sitting area where you can relax and read in peace. En suite bathroom with shower, WC and hand basin. Patio doors lead out to the gardens.
Bedroom 5 (green) has twin beds with patio doors out on to the pool area.
The spacious family bathroom has a large corner bath, shower cubicle, WC and hand basin.

All four the bathrooms have heated towel rails and all the bedrooms are fitted with ample hanging and drawer space, each one has a hair dryer.
The spacious lounge is 'L' shaped and has lots of lights and space with three separate areas .
Firstly the TV area, large comfy sofa and two bucket chairs. You can watch French channels or some English channels or just settle down to a favourite film on the DVD player. This is a cosy area and during the cooler winter evenings you can warm yourself in front of the cosy log fire. If you bring your laptop or tablet we can help you to watch your favourite TV shows.
Secondly the Office area, with Wifi broadband internet connection. Equipped with a desk and office chair, an ideal work station if you need to keep in touch with the office during your stay.
Finally an area with a large sofa and 2 large armchairs and coffee table, ideal for sitting and chatting over aperitifs or just curling up with your favourite book.
The newly refurbished open plan kitchen and dining room is well equipped with everything you would expect in your kitchen at home. Plenty of cooking utensils, pots, pans, ceramic serving dishes and plenty of cooking equipment. There is a ceramic hob, oven, microwave and fridge-freezer. The house is well stocked with crockery and cutlery.
The dining area has a large dining table that comfortably seats ten and is a lovely area to share a convivial meal.
Adjoining the kitchen is the utility room with washing machine, dish washer and a second fridge, handy in summer to keep drinks icy cool.

The garden is completely fenced and the pool is alarmed and secure for children. Inside the main gate there is car parking space for 5 cars. There is also on street parking in a quiet road in front of the house.
The house sits in it's own well maintained grounds. You can access the garden from most rooms in the house. There is a large BBQ terrace leading off from the kitchen and dining room with a table comfortably seating 10 people, ideal for al fresco meals. The table has a large parasol for the hot daytime sun.
There is a second smaller terrace with a table and six chairs at the front of the house, that can be shaded by a large electric awning.
We also have a small bistrot table you can put under the weeping willow, next to the pool or wherever you like.
The swimming pool (4m x 8m) is situated in the large garden and is surrounded by terraces equipped with 6 sun loungers and a parasol, bistrot table and chairs and a pool shower. The pool is alarmed for your safety. The pool is equipped with a cone-shaped perspex cover outside high summer.
The views from the house and garden are of beautiful mountains and wooded hills. Due to clever hedges and planting the grounds are not overlooked. There are many shaded areas around the garden where you can take a book and have a quiet hour reading or snoozing.
• We can accept your reservation with a deposit of 25% of the holiday rental.
• The final balance becomes due 4 weeks before your arrival at the house.
• We also ask for a security deposit of £250, this is returned in full within 7 days of the end of your holiday, providing the house is left clean and tidy.
• All bed linen and towels are provided at no extra cost and will be changed each week. We also provide a number of pool towels.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region
Languedoc-Roussillon is perfectly positioned 1 hour from the Mediterranean to the east where the beautiful sandy beaches provide long days by the sea, and the Pyrenees to the west, which offer a wealth of walking and cycling opportunities, not to mention skiing in the winter!
This region is a delight; the Conflent valley provides lovely green scenery, with Mount Canigou dominating the skyline and the Pyrenees visible in the distance. You can be swimming in the sea in the morning, and hiking in the mountains in the afternoon, skiing in the morning and paddling in the afternoon. It really does offer you everything!
There is a lake in the local town of Vinca, with beaches, from which you can swim, sail or wind-surf.
Weather: This area benefits from being in the sunniest region of France, and enjoys warm, sunny weather from March all the way through to October. November and December are cooler but still with sunshine. January, February and March are great skiing months (less than 1hr drive to the ski resorts).
The Pyrenees Orientales has much to offer art lovers; the world famous Pablo Casals music festival is held in and around Prades (only 15 minutes drive away) during the summer and is attended by world famous musicians. Perpignan hosts “Jazzebre” an international jazz festival in October. This area has also been the home to many famous artists including Picasso, Matisse, Chagall and surrealist artist Salvador Dali who declared Perpignan railway station “the centre of the universe”. You can see examples of their work on show in Ceret, Perpignan and the picturesque seaside resort of Collioure.
There are many beach resorts including Collioure, Argelès sur Mer, Canet, Le Bacarès and Port Leucat with sandy beaches for sunbathing, rock beaches for snorkeling and diving and various other activities including, wind surfing, beach volley ball, kiting, sailing and much more.
Fuilla is a charming village set in a sheltered valley situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is an ideal centre for holidaymakers all year round as the village enjoys a wonderful climate, with an average of 300 days of sunshine each year. Within 100m of the house is a cafe, bar/resto open all year round (not Tues evening or all day Wed).
Shopping from Fuilla is easy, with a wide range of amenities available in nearby Villefranche and Prades, where you will find a variety of Supermarkets, cafes, bars and restaurants. In Prades there is a large market every Tuesday and a smaller produce market on Saturday mornings.
Visit the tourist information office in Prades and discover the many activities and festivals held in the area. It is open all year round.
The walks in the area are many, varied and well marked, stroll around the village or take a hike following some of the most beautiful trails in France. Visit the Tourist information for free leaflets on local walks.
For touring the area Fuilla is ideally situated and offers an excellent base. Just a few sites of interest within easy driving distance are listed below:
* Villefranche de Conflent, a fine example of a medieval walled town (5 minutes drive). Festivals and fireworks throughout the year, visit fort Liberia high above the town.
* Little Yellow Train (le petit train jaune), catch this train from Villefranche and enjoy the spectacular mountain views right into the Pyrenees towards the Spanish border. (5 minutes drive).
* St Thomas les Bains, outstanding natural thermal hot springs in wonderful outdoor mountain setting. (20 minutes drive).
*Animal Park, Casteil, lovely day out for the children, lots of animals to see and feed, in a beautiful mountain park, the walk around the park is 2-3 km. (10 minutes drive).
* Grottes de Canalettes, magnificent renowned caves with an incredible light and sound show. (5 minutes drive).
* St Martin du Canigou, 9th century abbey perched impressively high on the hillside with fantastic scenery and walks. (10 minutes drive).
* St Michel de Cuxa, 6th century abbey that hosts concerts during the Pablo Casals festival but is also open for viewing most of the year. (15 minutes drive). Both this abbey and St Martin are considered to be the finest architecture of their period in France.
* There are a number of Cathar castles to visit in the area, take a day out of your holiday to learn the fascinating history of the persecution of the Cathars.
* Skiing in winter - we are less than 1 hour from some of the Pyrenees mountain ski resorts.

"Nice view, location and house - maintenance and service a poor experience"
Stayed here for a week with two couples and five childeren under eight. House is situated in a nice and peaceful location. Funtionality of the house great - many rooms.
A big dissapointment was the cleanliness of the house and the pool.
Floor surfaces had been cleaned cosmetically. Under beds obviously not: big glass piece under bedroom bed, floor matts in one bedroom smelling dog, in kitchen most elements sticky. Flies. Small simple repairs not done.
Pool not clean on arrival and we needed to call pool man next morning, who did a poor, cosmetic job. Decided to clean the pool ourselves.
Fair enough, we do not expect to find the perfect clean holiday home. Nevertheless, what we experienced was far below par.

We realise you had initial concerns on your arrival, and we think we responded quickly to those concerns. We had previously been satisfied with the job done by and willingness of the pool man and housekeeper, although you might be interested to know that during your stay we accepted the resignation of both these individuals.
The villa and pool are now cared for by a new team who are focused on the high standards guests such as yourselves expect.
We would be pleased to see you again in the future if you wished and would like to offer you a good discount for your help in detecting issues that needed our attention. Our aim is for our guests to love the villa as much as we do.

"Lovely, peaceful stay and great location!"
Just spent a relaxing and peaceful week at L'Oiseau Chantant, in the pretty village of Fuilla. The villa is tastefully decorated and spacious and the dining area accommodates 10 people easily. The large rear garden offers several dining areas and a pool from which we could enjoy a stunning view of Mount Canigou still covered in snow! We indulged in delicious, flaky croissants for breakfast which were provided by a nearby restaurant. We didn't miss any of our favorite British TV programs as the villa has satellite TV in English and French. Internet connection was also available.
There were plenty of interesting places to visit in the area to keep us entertained. We enjoyed walks recommended by the local tourist office around Venet les Bains, and we explored the old fort village of Villefranche de Conflent. A trip in May to St Michel de Cuxa, a nearby 6th century abbey, was rewarded with gardens full of blooming irises. Overall, L'Oiseau Chantant was a wonderful location to explore this area of France.

"Great Villa, Fabulous Location"
We spent 8 days at L'Oiseau Chantant in Fuilla. The villa is extremely comfortable with new furnishings throughout and a well equipped kitchen. Outside there is a terrace, BBQ and a pool with stunning views of Pic de Canigou and the surrounding mountains. There is a good local restaurant at the end of the road - delicious food and friendly service.
Fuilla is a good base for walking and sight seeing with several abbeys within an hour's drive and excellent walking right from the door. It is also possible to walk at a higher level with just over an hour's drive to the ski stations above Mont Louis. There are supermarkets in Prades and an excellent farmer's market on a Saturday.
We had a fantastic week and will definitely be going back.

"A true gem of a find in an unrivalled location"
Having arrived after dark our breath was taken away when we saw the panoramic views which surround the property the next morning. The house sits on a very quiet lane where the only sounds come from a tinkling stream and the occasional stirring of a few geese next door. The gardens are totally private and the pool a delight with day long sunshine but plenty of shady areas too. The interior of the house is spacious and bright and the quality of the furnishings and bedding high quality and modern. The kitchen and utility area is well stocked with a plentiful supply of matching crockery, cutlery and glassware and everything you need for home catering.The surrounding area is suitable for people with every kind of interests. We walked miles from the house itself up into the hills and cycled from one valley to another via steep roads and past tiny hamlets. Sightseeing is plentiful and the market at Prades is also worth a visit. This is an area where you could spend an endless amount of time and only scratch the surface.

"High standard villa in stunning location"
This villa offers a very high standard of accommodation situated in the quaint village of Fuilla which is nestled in the foothills of Le Canigou mountain - the views of which are stunning particularly from the pool and back garden area.
The old walled town of nearby Villefranche de Conflent offers a variety of shops and restaurants that are reasonably priced.
