The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol stretches along 150km of Málaga province and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations, with its wide sweeps of golden sand. The area's mild climate is the main attraction – visitors and residents alike can enjoy the beaches, as well as alfresco dining plus a wide variety of outdoor activities, all year round.

The region is famous for its hundreds of beaches to be enjoyed along this coast, from quiet, hidden coves to trendy stretches of sand with fashionable beach clubs populated by celebrities and beautiful people from all over the world.

One of the most popular pastimes on the Costa is golf – there are over 50 golf courses in the area, with stunning mountain and clifftop locations, offering spectacular views over the area's varied landscapes, and down to the sea.

Less well-known, but definitely worth a visit, are the many stunning national parks around Malaga province, often located just a short, easy drive inland. You can go hiking, caving, wild swimming, four-wheel-driving, horse-riding and countess other adventurous activities. For a less strenuous day out, the villages of the Axarquia region are some of the most picturesque in all of Spain.

If night-time is your time, then you'll find a huge selection of bars and clubs along the coast, especially around Marbella and Puerto Banus, ranging from the fun and easygoing, to the chic and sophisticated.

The Costa de Sol can be divided into two sections, with Malaga city at its centre. The eastern Costa del Sol is much shorter, stretching from the provincial capital as far as Nerja, where it meets the Costa Tropical of Granada province.

The western Costa de Sol is the section of coast which curves round southwards towards Gibraltar, and includes all the major resorts such as Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Benalmadena, plus of course, the ritzy celeb-magnet of Marbella. This section has a very international feel, with visitors and residents from all over the world.

But if you're coming to the coast on holiday, don't miss Malaga city, which has reinvented itself in recent years as a cultural and gastronomic centre. It has an unparalleled offering of museums, including the Picasso Museum, a buzzing contemporary arts scene, and top-class tapas bars and restaurants.

Fuengirola

Only 25km from Malaga International Airport is the town of Fuengirola – one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. Easily accessible by road, rail or bus, it is not difficult to see why this buzzing cosmopolitan town on the Mediterranean is the number one choice for so many different kinds of people.

Previously, a tiny fishing village, Fuengirola has become a vibrant metropolis with character. The advent of many up-market tapa bars and good restaurants, interspersed with chic boutiques and other shops of interest, as well as fabulous beaches makes it the perfect holiday destination. The main square, Plaza de la Constitución, has been re-designed but still retains its unique enchantment. It looks pretty especially at Christmas, when it is decorated with very attractive lights and ornaments. It is also attractive during the Fuengirola summer feria, when the whole town takes part in the annual street celebrations. A walk down the narrow, pedestrian streets leading off the main square is a voyage of discovery for the many visitors, who come across some of the hidden secrets and delightful corners of this friendly, Andalucian town.

One of the Fuengirola's main attractions is, of course, its wonderful seven kilometres (five miles) of sandy beaches, stretching from the Sohail Castle to the west and Torreblanca to the east.

Fuengirola has all the amenities and comforts you need but in a beautiful Mediterranean setting. Whether you love shopping, if you are looking for hairdresser, or you want to buy a quality, professional hair products, everything is at hand and usually within walking distance or just a short bus or train ride away.

Pinares de mijas is a magnificent residential estate just outside Fuengirola, on Mijas' exclusive coast, in one of the finest areas of the Costa del Sol, lying between the new Mijas horse race track and the Chaparral beach with a beautiful pine wood on one side, and the Mediterranean on the other.

Situated on the Chaparral hill, with unbeatable sea views, this exclusive development of seven low-rise apartment blocks is the perfect retreat for a relaxing holiday.

Our spacious 110m2 apartment is on the ground floor of Block 1. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large lounge and dining areas and a spacious south facing terrace with sea view.

The estate is private and enclosed, with extensive newly landscaped gardens and two swimming pools. There is an underground carpark, with a single allocated parking space and a supermarket and selection of shops, bars and restaurants just a short stroll away.

The PINARES DE MIJAS complex is very close to the new "El Chaparral" 18 hole golf course, which will be opened in 2006, with a wide range of all the latest facilities it will be a fantastic attraction for golfers of all abilities.

Just 5 minutes drive away, the new Parque Miramar Shopping Mall features boutiques with the latest fashions, cafés, restaurants, cinemas, hypermarket and much more.

There is a bus stop outside the main gates which gives you easy access to Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Marbella, Malaga etc…
