The Andalucia region

The Costa del Sol has a wonderful climate, sunny and hot for the spring and summer months, and mild during the winter - the perfect year round holiday destination.

You will never be hard pressed to find something to do. There are lots of super places to visit, lots of activities to pursue and many interesting colourful places to eat.

Within 20 minutes by local bus or train you can be in Benalmadena with its “mini Disney World” (Tivoli World) or Mijas, a pretty 9th century Andalucian village with its landscaped viewing platforms overlooking the spectacular coastline below, or Marbella & Puerto Banus with its trendy shops and beautiful Marina.

And only a coach trip away there's lots more to see - Granada with the Alhambra Palace, Sevilla and its magnificent Cathedral, or visit Gibraltar for the day, or even go just across the water to exotic Tangier in North Africa!

If you fancy just sitting with a book sunbathing, maybe taking a quiet dip or a paddle, then going out in the evening for a nice meal the Cost del Sol has it all. It won't let you down !



EATING OUT - 2 minutes' walk away there are a large number of restaurants, cafes, fast food outlets and bars. Here you can get a 3 course meal for about £7.

SUPERMARKETS - 2 minutes' walk to your local supermarkets.

THE BEACH (DIRECTLY OPPOSITE) – Just seconds away is the wonderful soft sandy 7 kilometres (5 miles) beach where you can relax or be as active as you wish.

THE PROMENADE (DIRECTLY OPPOSITE) - In the daytime the 7 kilometres (5 miles) long, wide and FLAT Promenade is a big attraction. It has frequent part shaded resting places so you can sit and admire the lovely sea and beach views or just watch the world go by. In the evening the beaches are floodlit and everything appears quite magical ! This is the perfect time to have a "nightcap" in one of the many cafes/restaurants literally built on the beach.

SOME OF FUENGIROLA'S ATTRACTIONS – A short walk away, in the Port, you can take a trip on a glass bottomed boat looking for dolphins. In the same area you can board the tourist train (Tren Turistico) which will take you on a leisurely tour of the town by road. Within a walking distance is the renowned Fuengirola Zoo and the Giant Water Park (Parque Acuatico Mijas).

SHOPPING - 2 minutes' walk to your local supermarkets and shops. The shopping in Fuengirola is fun with a variety of small shops to choose from. Within a short walking distance is the Miramar Shopping Centre which is a large modern covered retail complex with the larger stores and a multiplex cinema (many films in English), and lots of cafes. Also to snap up that last minute bargain you can shop in the weekly local open markets on Saturday and Tuesday.

TRANSPORT – A short walk away is a bus station, train station and ferry services. These facilities are cheap, efficient and easy to use.

"Very clean and spacious, superb location with wonderful views, luxury apartment"

My husband and I have stayed in many very pleasant apartments but this one has topped them all, the penthouse is so clean and well organised throughout. Much larger than it appears on the photos, the balconies front and back have superb views and are very large, perfect for spending a lot of time relaxing, sunbathing and enjoying the scenery, espcially of the beach, everything in the apartment is thought of that you may require and total privacy is guaranteed ( my hubby watched t.v. occasionally) I did not watch t.v. at all during the stay, my entertainment was the balcony views and that was just when we were in, as the apartment is in an excellent location, just a minutes walk to anywhere, pubs, resturants, cafes, marina, boat trips and of course all the wonderful shopping around the corner, so we were out a lot too!! Everything went smoothly from booking to arriving. My only sadness is I wish I was still there! But I have today made enquires to book two more stays at this beautiful penthouse for 2013 - You cannot recommend a place better than that can you. May I just say a further thank-you to the owners of this porperty for being so thoughtful to their guests. Cannot wait till we return, Caroline and Russell Bacon

"Excellent Penthouse Apartment"

We stayed at the El Lido Penthouse apartment in Fuengirola the first week in June 2012. This by far the best apartment we have ever had the privilege of renting. It is a very clean apartment, well presented with outstanding views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and mountains to the rear. You also get the added benefit of having the sun all day, mornings on the front balcony and afternoons using the rear balcony with full use of the loungers. The apartment also has the added benefit of Air Conditioning in both bedrooms and lounge, with a large screen TV showing all Sky channels and the added benefit of free wifi. We also had the added benefit if needed of a contact close by should something go wrong which ads to your piece of mind. It is also very close to all the best restaurants and only a short walk the famous Fish Ally I have used Smiths for Spain twice now and have at all time found them to be very helpful. I look forward to using them for 2013.

"Outstanding Penthouse Apartment"

We stayed at the El Lido Penthouse apartment in Fuengirola in the last week of May 2012. The apartment is excellent. Extremely clean, well presented with wonderful views directly over the beach. Throughout the day you get the sun on the balcony, which has sunbeds, loungers and dining table and once the sun goes over to the back you can then retire to the rear balcony and soak up even more sun. There is Air Conditioning in every room and the very large flat screen TV which has UK channels made us feel at home. All the booking and correspondence was effortless and we had peace of mind knowing that there was a local contact in Fuengirola to deal with any issues, of which there where none. Look forward to booking again next year.
