House | 10 bedrooms | sleeps 20
Fairfield House is a Victorian House which has been renovated from a derelict state to provide boutique hotel style self-catering accommodation for 16 - 20 guests in 8 - 10 bedrooms.
Stanhope is located in Weardale, on the Coast 2 Coast cycle route. The small town is literally a few minutes walk from the house and has a variety of shops and pubs which can provide everything you may need during your stay. Walk the other way and you are simply a few minutes away from glorious open countryside so you really do get the best of both worlds.
There is also plenty to do in and around the house. There is a large games room with pool table and air hockey, a rough all weather tennis also ideal for 5 aside football and an 8 seater hot tub which, along with the gas BBQ has a covered area and a fire pit.
The ground floor of the house offers a main open plan sitting and dining room with views across the front gardens. There is a TV room and a small snug with a little bar so there is plenty of space to spread out. The kitchen is spacious with an American sized fridge / freezer, large oven and hob. There is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer as well as plenty of storage space for boots and outdoor wet weather clothing.
The first floor offers 3 super king or twin rooms all with en-suite shower rooms. A double / twin room, a double room with en-suite shower and a house shower room. The master bedroom can also be made as super king or large twin beds and has en-suite bathroom, with bath and separate shower.
The second floor offers 2 super king/ large twin rooms sharing a bathroom with bath and overhead shower. There is seating area with sofa/ sofa bed and TV.
Annexe (above Games Room):-
There are 2 large rooms available at an additional charge. Each room can be made as a twin or king size double. Both rooms have an en-suite with free standing bath and shower. There is also a coffee bar area in each room with a fridge and kettle. Please note: these rooms are not linked internal to the main house.
There are 2 sofa beds, one in the first floor double / twin room and one in the second floor twin room. These are available for 2 children only at £35.00 extra per sofa bed. Please note: The maximum number of guests allowed is 20, 16 in the main house and either 4 guests in the annexe rooms or 2 children sleeping on sofa beds, therefore, the option is either sofa beds or the annexe but not both together.

"Brilliant for a family of wide age range"
The house is tastefully furnished and well equipped. We are a family that likes to cook and socialise and the big kitchen, dining table and sitting room were ideal. The weather wasn't great but adults and children were able to play table tennis and pool in the games room. In between rain storms, the more energetic people played tennis, netball and football. Despite the clouds and rain, we sat in the hot tub chatting and enjoying ourselves. We even managed a walk with the dogs up the valley and around the quarry (dogs on leads because of the sheep). The family ranged in age from 8 years to 74 years and they all had a great time.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay - sorry I couldn't help with the weather!
Hope to welcome you back soon.
