Idyllically situated within walking distance of a river, ancient woodland and a cycle path, this traditional stone cottage and adjoining cowshed is located in countryside near the medieval town of Frome. The historic village of Mells is a 2 mile stroll along the beautiful wooded valley. It has a 15th century inn, The Talbot, serving modern British food and an award winning shop and cafe. This lovely cottage also makes ideal guest accommodation for weddings at nearby Babington House. In keeping with its local stone exterior and farmland setting, Hapsford Farm Cottage has been recently converted to luxury present day standards using solid wood floors and natural slate tiles. An exciting conversion of the adjoining cowshed means that guests can now enjoy their own wood fired stove pizza oven! Imagine preparing your own dough and choice of toppings and then sinking into the comfy armchairs with your culinary creations and a glass of wine! A table tennis table, table football and pool table make this a great place for all ages to hang out when they want to escape the rest of the family! Children will be delighted to discover some freshly laid eggs from fostered chickens that can be housed within the private walled garden. Gas central heating and a generous log burner keep the whole cottage warm through the winter months making this an ideal self-catering holiday location at any time of the year. Whilst enjoying the best of the open countryside and farmland, pretty hamlets and the medieval market town of Frome why not venture and experience all that Somerset has to offer; within a 30 minute drive in each direction you will reach the elegant spa City of Bath, the quaint City of Wells, the famous Unesco site of Stonehenge and just little more to find both the wonderful beaches of Dorset and Cheddar Gorge.

The Somerset region

Hapsford Farm Cottage is nestled in the countryside

about one mile from the ancient market town of Frome. Frome, dating back to 685

as a centre of the wool trade, is now a centre of 'cool culture' according to

The Guardian, with its choice of independent and vintage shops on Catherine

Hill, farmers’ and flea markets and ancient cobbled streets, pubs and churches.

Just 2 hours from London, and 50 minutes from

Bristol airport, Hapsford Farm Cottage offers wonderful open countryside,

riverside walks through ancient woodland and a cycleway which now runs as far

as Bath. The historic village of Mells is a 2 mile stroll along the beautiful

wooded valley, with its award winning shop and cafe and 15thcentury

inn serving seasonal British food.

No luxury cottage break at Hapsford Farm is complete without a visit to

Cheddar Gorge. Just 40 minutes drive out, Cheddar Gorge rises to 450ft and

spans three miles long making it the biggest gorge in the UK! There are plenty

of activities to do here, from walking and cycling to the more extreme

abseiling, climbing and adventure caving.

Looking to entertain the whole family? Longleat Safari Park is 15 minutes

away from Frome and holds plenty of fun to fill your day! The safari park, one of the country’s largest

mazes, boat trips, parrot show, childrens’ zoo, adventure castle and much more

are included in the price.

Explore superb National Trust properties and gardens such as The Courts,

Great Chalfield, Stourhead, Iford, Tyntesfield, Montacute House, Barrington

Court and Tintinhull.

The small cathedral city of Wells is around thirty minutes drive from your

holiday cottage location - explore its fascinating medieval past and the

unspoilt 13th Century cathedral in the heart of the city. Wells also

has a bustling market put on twice a week - perfect for picking up a bargain or

two on your stay.

Glastonbury is a little further afield, and apart from being famous for its

festival each year, is a lovely bustling town with plenty to see and do. Glastonbury Abbey was once one of the largest

and richest Abbeys in England.Take the time to stroll across the 36 acres of beautifully

landscaped gardens. Just outside the town lies Glastonbury Tor; climb to the

top and visit St Michaels Tower whilst

enjoying the most spectacular views over the Somerset Levels. On a clear day

you can see the neighbouring counties of Dorset to the south and Wiltshire to

the east.

Stonehenge is about a forty minute drive and can be easily combined with a

trip to Salisbury or Avebury, all highly recommended for history and culture.

The beautiful beaches of the Dorset Jurassic coast are within an hour and a

half drive. If you don't want to take the car you can always catch a direct train

to Weymouth, where you'll find stretches of blue flag sandy beach for the

perfect seaside day with the family. Or if you fancy something sportier why not

head towards North Devon for a spot of surfing?

Don't forget to visit the cosmopolitan city of Bristol on your holiday

cottage stay! A fascinating blend of the contemporary and old, Bristol is

famous for its connections to one of the greatest engineers of the Industrial

Revolution; Isambard Kingdom Brunel, his SS Great Britain and the famous

Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The nearest of the all, the royal spa city of Bath is set on a UNESCO World

Heritage Site and has some of the most stunning architecture in the whole of

Europe. Within 25 minutes from Hapsford Farm cottage, enjoy a relaxing day at

the Bath Thermae Spa - home to the only hot springs in the UK!

For some retail therapy Bath has SIX shopping areas! From galleries,

independent boutiques to high street chains and designer shops, Bath really

does have it all. As well as plenty of museums, gardens and architecture to

explore (don't pass up a trip to the Royal Crescent!) Bath makes for a great

day out on your holiday cottage break.

For golf, the Orchardleigh Golf Club is literally a five minutes' drive away

with 72 holes of golf and stunning treelined fairways.

Hapsford Farm Cottage also makes ideal accommodation

for Babington House members when

nearby Babington House is full and for guests attending weddings there. We are

also very handy for visitors to Vobster Dive Centre and to the renowned

Jackdaws Music Centre in Great Elm. Fans of the Glastonbury Festival might want

to consider exchanging camping in the mud for a luxurious VI spring bed!
