Home description
Frigiliana is a very old village steeped in history and tradition. By day it receives lots of visitors keen to see why this beautiful village has been crowned the Prettiest Village in Andalucia by the Spanish Tourist Board. And its easy to see why. It truly is a privilege to own a property in such a beautiful part of Spain, and to be part of this charming village life. By night the narrow cobbled streets come to life with tiny bars, restaurants and craft shops. The view from the terrace at night of the village with the church sitting prominently reminds me of a Christmas Card scene - it is truly breathtaking.
Although the village is within walking distance along a country lane there is no lighting and a car would be advisable. This is a great location for walkers, or for an away from it all break. However, if you want to go out for a drink or a meal it's all available to you not too far away! Please note the swimming pool is located in front of the villa on a lower level, and is therefore mainly out of view from the properties and their surrounding terraces.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
This little corner of the Costa Del Sol enjoys a wonderful climate. Even the winter is usually pleasant and sunny - a welcome respite from the cold miserable weather of the UK. A holiday in Frigiliana will enable you to enjoy the lovely weather of southern Spain whilst also a taste of traditional Spanish culture.
Frigiliana area
Frigiliana - the village where time stands still! In fact a walk around the old town of Frigiliana will make you feel like you have gone back in time. Don't be surprised to see a horse and cart tied to a lamp-post whilst the owner enjoys a leisurely drink and catch-up with his fellow-villagers. Another familiar site is the oxen ploughing the fields, or even making their way along the road in all their finery. Never go out without your camera as there is an interesting photo opportunity around every corner! Frigiliana even has its own "bull run" where the young lads show their bravado when a load of young bulls are released in the streets! Yes, these people do like a celebration and there seems to be a festival every other week. They love nothing more than taking to the streets in their typical Spanish costumes, men, women and children alike join in the merriment!
How to get there
Malaga airport is approx 45 minutes by car. Granada airport is approx 90 minutes away. Both airports have car hire companies operating out of the airport. I recommend Helle Hollis - www.hellehollis.com - please quote my Home Owner Membership No H4520 to qualify for a 15% discount. They also operate a "fair fuel policy" whereby although they will charge you for fuel initially, if you return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you collect it, you will be refunded the fuel charge. Another benefit of using my membership is that if you let them have the necessary documentation before you travel, they will prepare your contract ahead of your arrival, so all you have to do is sign it and collect the keys and you'll be on your way!

Further details indoors: The swimming pool is located in front of the property on a lower level and is accessed via a flight of steps.
This is a small property designed for 2 people. There is 1 bedroom with small en-suite shower room, open plan kitchen/lounge area. There is a further small bathroom having a small bath with shower over, but this will only be available when there are more than 2 occupants. The 2 Lounge sofa's shown in the photograph have been replaced with a leather 2 seater double recliner sofa. The house will sleep 4 persons with the use of 2 put-u-up beds in the lounge area - there will be a supplement of £25 per person for the 3rd and 4th person. Please note there is a ceramic hob but no oven.
There is a freeview UK television receiver, which receives a vast range of satellite channels including all the main BBC and ITV channels, as well as several film, lifestyle, documentary channels etc.
Further details outdoors: There is a terrace in front of the house taking full advantage of the wonderful view - to the left are the hills and mountains beyond; to the right is Frigiliana and further right you can see the sea in the distance, some 7km or so away. These same views are duplicated and somewhat enhanced from the private roof terrace. Again, the pool soaks in these panoramic views. All the photographs are taken from the property.
Sun beds are provided by the pool and on the roof terrace. Thick cushions are provided for maximum comfort - please use a beach towel for reasons of hygiene.
Please note there is no designated parking space. There is room to park on the lane outside the property but as it is quite narrow you will need to park close up to the wall to allow any other cars to pass. This is a no-through-road and is access to only a handful of properties. There is a gateway and access from the road which is shared with one other villa, which also shares the pool area. However, this villa is often unoccupied as it is a holiday home and is not rented out.
Further details
This property is not suitable for young children. The pool is not suitable for non-swimmers as it does not have a really shallow section. There is also a low retaining wall with a long drop on the other side.
Conditions
Preferably couples. Well-behaved children welcome. Sorry, no single groups!

£100 damages/breakages deposit is required with all bookings. This will be refunded within approx 2 weeks of you satisfactorily vacating the property and receipt of the returned keys by the owner.
Payment in sterling preferably by cheque. By bank transfer by arrangement.
A deposit of £50 per rental week is required to secure a booking.
The balance is payable 8 weeks before the rental commencement date.
Linen change will take place after 7 days. No mid-stay cleaning service is provided.

We really enjoyed staying in both properties. Taking use of the combined option of staying 1 week in the Frigiliana house and one in the Capistrano Playa apartment proved to be a really fantastic choice since we could enjoy both a quiet week in a village which was exactly what we needed after a trip across Europe, and a week in the centre of the resort (Nerja) with all its attractions, restaurants, cafes, and beautiful Burriana beach a short (although steep) walk away. If you dont mind we would love to recommend your beautiful holiday accommodation to our friends. It was great to meet you and your husband in person. Once again thank you for a lovely service.
