About the home

Frigiliana is a very old village steeped in history and tradition. By day it receives lots of visitors keen to see why this beautiful village has been crowned the Prettiest Village in Andalucia by the Spanish Tourist Board. And its easy to see why. It truly is a privilege to own a property in such a beautiful part of Spain, and to be part of this charming village life. By night the narrow cobbled streets come to life with tiny bars, restaurants and craft shops. The view from the terrace at night of the village with the church sitting prominently is reminiscent of a Christmas scene - it is truly breathtaking.

Although the village is within walking distance along a country lane there is no lighting and a car would be advisable.
This is a great location for walkers, or for an away from it all break. However, if you want to go out for a drink or a meal it's all available to you within a 20 minute walk.!

This is a small property with 1 bedroom having en-suite shower room. There is an open plan kitchen/lounge area and a further bathroom having a small bath with shower over. The 2 Lounge sofa's shown in the photograph have been replaced with a leather 2 seater double recliner sofa to make more interior space for the 2 put-u-up beds. Large patio doors afford unsurpassed panoramic views of Frigiliana and lead out from the Lounge directly onto the terrace with dining area and BBQ. Please note there is a ceramic hob but no oven.

There is a freeview UK television receiver, which receives a vast range of satellite channels including all the main BBC and ITV channels, as well as several film, lifestyle, documentary channels etc.

Further details outdoors:
There is a terrace in front of the house taking full advantage of the wonderful view - to the left are the hills and mountains beyond; to the right is Frigiliana and further right you can see the sea in the distance, some 7km or so away. These same views are duplicated and somewhat enhanced from the private roof terrace. Again, the pool soaks in these panoramic views. All the photographs are taken from the property.

Sun beds are provided by the pool and on the main terrace. Thick cushions are provided for maximum comfort - please use a beach towel for reasons of hygiene.

There is room to park on the lane outside the property. This is a no-through-road and is access to only a handful of properties.

Further details

This property is not suitable for young children as the pool is located on a lower level and there is a low retaining wall between the property and the pool area which has a long drop on the other side. The pool is approx 4' deep throughout.

The Costa del Sol region

This little corner of the Costa Del Sol enjoys a wonderful climate. Even the winter is usually pleasant and sunny - a welcome respite from the cold miserable weather of the UK. A holiday in Frigiliana will enable you to enjoy the lovely weather of southern Spain whilst also a taste of traditional Spanish culture.

The Frigiliana area

Frigiliana - the village where time stands still! In fact a walk around the old town of Frigiliana will make you feel like you have gone back in time. Don't be surprised to see a horse and cart tied to a lamp-post whilst the owner enjoys a leisurely drink and catch-up with his fellow-villagers. Another familiar site is the oxen ploughing the fields, or even making their way along the road in all their finery. Never go out without your camera as there is an interesting photo opportunity around every corner! Frigiliana even has its own "bull run" where the young lads show their bravado when a load of young bulls are released in the streets! Yes, these people do like a celebration and there seems to be a festival every other week. They love nothing more than taking to the streets in their typical Spanish costumes, men, women and children alike join in the merriment!

Malaga airport is approx 45 minutes by car. Granada airport is approx 90 minutes away.
Both airports have car hire companies operating out of the airport. I recommend Helle Hollis - www.hellehollis.com - please quote my Home Owner Membership No H4520 to qualify for a 15% discount. They also operate a "fair fuel policy" whereby although they will charge you for fuel initially, if you return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you collect it, you will be refunded the fuel charge. Another benefit of using my membership is that if you let them have the necessary documentation before you travel, they will prepare your contract ahead of your arrival, so all you have to do is sign it and collect the keys and you'll be on your way!

“A fantastic location with great views whilst cooling off in the pool” We had a great two weeks at Bella Vista, chilling out and admiring the view, which we never tired of. If you want to kick back and relax in a beautiful area then it certainly fits the bill. The villa sits in the same grounds as the owners villa but they are normally not there when guests are. There is a lovely pool, around 24ft by 12ft (in old measurements) for guests exclusive use with a lovely terraced area around . As the villa is on a hill there are two levels, with the pool being on the lower level. There is also a terraced area as you come out of the villa patio doors, complete with table and chairs, under a wind-out awning, where it is a joy to have breakfast and watch the sun come up, or sit with a glass of wine (or two or more) in the evening. There is an additional terrace on the roof of the villa. The villa is not suitable for children due to low walls and steep drops, but the owners do make this clear in their information. Frigiliana itself is about a mile away along a fairly steep, in parts, concrete road which is quite narrow but with passing places. The village is absolutely beautiful with plenty of restaurants, tapas bars and small shops for souvenirs or groceries. Although it has grown in popularity there is still a large local population and you do feel that you are experiencing the 'real Spain'. As the village is on the edge of a National Park there are plenty of opportunities for walking and exploring the countryside. The coastal town of Nerja is just a few kilometres away and although busier than Frigiliana it is not a 'high rise' town and has abundant restaurants and shops, including supermarkets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bella Vista and would recommend it for anyone wanting a relaxing countryside location with a gorgeous village nearby.

“An oasis of calm from a busy life!” We had a really restful week and just swam and read. We know Frigiliana and the view of the town from the villa is indeed beautiful. We sat until dark most evenings just watching the effect of the changing light on the view. The villa was ideal for us two and we were very comfortable, such a pretty place and setting. Thank you Deborah Margaret and Bill Response: This is exactly the response we strive for from our guests. It gives us no greater pleasure than knowing that our guests had a fabulous time whilst staying in one of our properties. We really enjoyed staying in both properties. Taking use of the combined option of staying 1 week in the Frigiliana house and one in the Capistrano Playa apartment proved to be a really fantastic choice since we could enjoy both a quiet week in a village which was exactly what we needed after a trip across Europe, and a week in the centre of the resort (Nerja) with all its attractions, restaurants, cafes, and beautiful Burriana beach a short (although steep) walk away. If you dont mind we would love to recommend your beautiful holiday accommodation to our friends. It was great to meet you and your husband in person. Once again thank you for a lovely service. Bella Vista - lovely, lovely,lovely place! We had the most wonderful 2 weeks at Bella Vista. What a lovely place! It was all as described in your information, only better. We had 2 weeks of solid sunshine, the views from the villa were fantastic, the use of the pool was lovely to cool off in and most of all it was just so peaceful and relaxing (apart from the many times we walked to Frigiliana and back!) We're now feeling quite fit! The area has wonderful scenery, everywhere is so accessible and you could do as much or as little as you wanted.

My Wife and I had a wonderful holiday in your villa. We really enjoyed our stay and in particular this location. This was our fifth holiday in this particular area but this was definitely the best for us so far as it was so relaxing. We made friends with the horse and pony next door and the goats were something else. We met them a few times coming up from Frigliana!!! I’m just looking out at grey skies and the rain.
