About the home

Casa Lucia is situated just a one minute walk from the restaurants, shops and bars in the centre of the old village with its labyrinth of cobbled streets of whitewashed houses, quaint alleyways and courtyards filled with bougainvillea and geraniums.

The beautiful beaches of Nerja are a short drive away and the area is full of interesting and traditionally Spanish towns and villages to visit. Frigiliana is situated at the edge of the Sierra de Tejeda and Almijara Natural Park and is perfect for walkers wanting to explore the countryside and mountains.

The apartment benefits from double and twin bedded rooms, both with their own bathrooms and both with their own patio doors leading onto the spacious balcony, furnished with table and chairs for relaxation and outside dining. A large fully equipped kitchen leads into the air conditioned dining area and lounge, which again leads out onto the balcony.

Our beautiful pool area is safe and secure, exclusively for the use of the guests of our small development and is a short stroll from the apartment.

Changeover days are flexible in order that guests can take advantage of cheaper mid-week flights. We will accept bookings of any duration (minimum three nights) on a pro rata basis.

The Costa del Sol region

Frigiliana is situated in one of the most beautiful and mountainous areas of Spain, a short distance from the traditionally Spanish resort of Nerja with it's beaches, night-life, shops bars and restaurants and the famous 'Balcon de Europa' a promenade jutting out into the Mediterranean, ideal for an evening stroll.

The famous Nerja caves are also worth a visit. Further along the coast are other traditionally Spanish resorts of Torrox, Torre del Mar, Salobrena, La Herradura and Almunecar whilst the more cosmopolitan resorts of Marbella, Puerto Banus, Torremolinos and Benalmadena are about an hour's drive away.

The area inland between Malaga and Nerja is known as the Axarquia, a mountainous region containing the so called 'White Villages', fascinating traditional towns and villages largely untouched by tourism, the 'Real Spain'. In particular, Comares, Canillas de Aceituno, Competa and Salares are worth exploring.

A short drive away, nestled in a rocky bay between La Herradura and Almunecar can be found the exclusive 'Marina del Este', a lovely and quiet marina lined with restaurants, ideal for a lunchtime snack or evening meal.
Although this area is renowned as having the best climate in Europe, with long hot summers and mild winters, Frigiliana is only just over an hour to the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada, generally open between November and May.

Just to the north of the Sierra Nevada and just an hour from Frigiliana lies the fascinating city of Granada with it's famous Alhambra Palace. Other cities within reach and worth more than a day trip include Seville and Cordoba, both a 2 hour drive away.

The Frigiliana / Las Huertas de Frigiliana area

Frigiliana is renowned as the most beautiful of all Andalucian villages, full of history and character. The old part of the village, close to our apartment, is a maze of cobbled streets, alleyways, courtyards and squares lined with whitewashed houses and bright flowers. It is an artists paradise.

Explore the old streets and you will find numerous shops, each with their own character, selling local produce, honey, muscatel wine and olive oil, and crafts such as leather and jewellery, and a host of bars and restaurants, most of which boast terraces with spectacular views overlooking the village and countryside or the valleys down to the sea.

The friendly people of Frigiliana take great pride in their village and love to share it with tourists. The locals take part and share with visitors numerous annual fiestas, the June Feria with it's horse competitions, fair and bull running and the Festival of Three Cultures, a week long celebration of food, drink and music in August. The Easter celebrations are particularly moving with sombre candle lit processions on Thursday and Good Friday, followed by a more spectacular Easter Sunday parade through the streets.

The village has beautiful gardens in which to relax and unwind, children's playgrounds, a large village swimming pool open during the summer, gymnasium and sports centre.

From the village are many walks, through valleys and river beds down to the coast or up into the spectacular Natural Park. Frigiliana is a place for everyone, young and old.

Nearest airport is Malaga 45 minutes away by car. Several budget airlines fly to Malaga including Easyjet, Monarch, BMI Baby, Flybe, Ryanair, Jet2, Thomsonfly and Fly Globespan.

Numerous car hire firms operate from the airport. We usually recommend Carjet and Holiday Autos, both of which are reasonably priced, efficient and have offices within the arrivals area of the airport.

We also use the bus to travel to our apartment. The nearest bus stop is 200 yards from our apartment from where regular buses connect with Nerja bus station and then regular buses connect with Malaga. A full timetable can be supplied on request.

“Lovely apartment - highly recommended” We have been to Frigiliana 3 times now as we love the area so much and Casa Lucia was the best accommodation we have stayed in by far. Well placed, very modern and well cared for with everything we needed. As we took our 14 year old daughter and her friend so having two large bathrooms were a particular bonus - Thank you so much"
