About the home
We would like our customers to know that the road leading to El Torin is approx 4km.of mainly unmade road until you reach the house.The best route is via Nerja town centre. It is practically flat but it takes 15 minutes. However, once you arrive you will appreciate the fantastic location,the stunning views of sea and mountains and the peace and tranquillity that this affords.
We selected the material for the house ourselves and did so very carefully as we wanted to maintain a relationship with the environment. The aim was to make the houses comfortable with a natural look and feel, in order to harmonise with the National Park. The houses are surrounded by olive groves and pine woods; from time to time you may see squirrels, foxes, rabbits, mountain goats, wild boar, partridge, eagles, and other wild creatures.
El Torin is beautifully equipped and has everything you need to feel completely at home. It is a pleasure for us to see our visitors come here from many other countries and enjoy the town of Frigiliana, our kind climate, and the area´s tranquility.
During your stay we hope you come to love the area as much as we do, and see some of the beauty of the Sierra Almijara. This pretty villa is to be found within the National Park area of the Sierra Tejada mountains, whilst set in an elevated potion and accessed by a steep concreted track, the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and coastline make the short journey worthwhile.
El Torin has been built by the owners Javier and Rosario with attention to detail and a lovely, rustic style decor throughout. A covered terrace provides a shady retreat from the midday sun and offers a relaxing setting to enjoy outside dining whilst admiring the views.A charming Andalusian property, which whilst having full modern facilities retains all its original features.
It has a lounge with comfortable rustic furniture, an open fireplace, a dining room, two bedrooms (one with double bed , one with twin beds). A showerroom and a well-equipped kitchen.
Facilities include a fridge-freezer, hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, satellite TV ( English channels) and DVD player, CD player and radio. Air conditioning. A good selection of English books and CDs is also provided.

El Torin is situated just below the Sierra Almijara National Park and has pretty views of the valley down to the sea from its private swimming pool and sun terraces.
Although the villa was built in 2001, like La Reserva above, it has been beautifully designed with the use of antique doors and windows, beams and antique tiles.
The two cottages are completely separate. yet located conveniently next door to each other so could be sold for larger families or friends. In between the two houses is an olive grove and the surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers.
Here you are fortunate enough to be only 100 metres away from the National Park of Sierra Almijara. When it had finally been decided that this area would be a National Park, we realized this would be an ideal place to build our two houses. Thanks to its status and the difficult terrain, this beautiful area hasn’t been ruined by masses of holiday homes.

The Costa del Sol region
Our village, given its situation between the sea and the mountains, offers many possibilities for walking along different routes where you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic views.
With our Almijara Mountains in the background you will truly feel as though you are walking in paradise.
The Frigiliana / Rio Chilar area
The property is 6kms from the seaside town of Nerja and is situated in the Moorish quarter of Frigiliana village.
Sports:- In this village we have a gymnasium and semi Olympic size swimming pool. There is also a covered sports complex where there are always different sporting activities taking place. All this is available to the public at very reasonable prices.
Culture:- Even though this is a small village, we are proud of having had a long and great history, with visible origins from the Neolithic period. Frigiliana has a small but very interesting museum, with various relics and artefacts which were found in an ancient burial place situated on a small hill on a private property only 1km from the centre.
This recently opened museum, which you will find in the beautiful Apero, is now the cultural centre of Frigiliana where is also housed the municipal library and Tourism Office, and in a building of fascinating architectural merit we also have a gallery and art exhibition centre, again open to the public.
Of particular interest is the collection of mural tiles which you can see as you walk along the old streets. As you follow each of these you can get to see some of the history of our village (in particular the Battle of the Penon), depicted in a most original way.
Should you wish to organise a longer excursion, in 90 minutes you could be visiting the Alhambra Palace in Granada, or in a couple of hours you could be at the Mezquita in Cordoba, or visiting the beautiful and fascinating city of Seville.
For almost every season there are typical and popular fiestas, where visitors can join in the festivities with the local people.

- From 8th to 13th June is the Feria and Romeria of our patron saint St Anthony
- In July we have important musical concerts
- August: popular dance shows from different parts of the world.
- December: traditional Midnight Mass, and New Year's Eve is celebrated in a wonderful, friendly atmosphere in the church square.
- Easter Week one may witness many processions through the village, with all the traditional splendour of this important religious festival.
When you wish to eat you can enjoy a great variety of dishes served in our very many restaurants, where you can discover a quality and excellence which you will never forget.

We wanted say what a wonderful time we had at El Torin and Frigiliana.
El Torin is a beautiful villa and it’s very clear that you take pride in it, the villa made our holiday a most memorable one and we are hoping to make a return trip, the food package was very much appreciated and flowers in the villa were a very nice addition.
We had the pleasure of meeting David and Rosy who were staying in La Reserva, they were very hospitable and spoke very highly of you and your family.

Hjalmar,Christel and Kids 29 April 2010 16:09 | El TorinIf you ever get stuck in Spain due to a volcanic ash cloud, make sure you have booked with Javier and Rosario. You can not wish for more helpfull and kind people. We had a lovely extended holiday in El Torin. The access to the house might be a bit tricky the first time but once you are there the advantages of the secluded location are plenty ( no cars, privacy and freedom for the kids to roam around). The kids enjoyed the pool, playing by the river and between the olives trees. The natural park has plenty possiblities of great hikes and is *** at this time of the year with plenty of flowers and wild life. Nerja with its lovely beach and convenient supermarket are only a 10 min drive away. El Torin is a perfect holiday retreat for a family of four !

Thank you so much for being such fantastic hosts for our week in Frigiliana!
Despite the weather doing its best to dampen our spirits by raining for the first three days, we had great weather for the rest of the week. The access was... challenging... shall we say! Hopefully they will soon re-build the river crossing so that future visitors don't have to drive 2 miles of cart track...
The scenery is gorgeous and great for walkers/hikers, with some supermarkets only a few miles away in Nerja. We also had the pleasure of seeing a Hoopoo bird (Google it!), some red squirrels and a friendly local cat.
We easily made a trip to the Alhambra in a day, Nerja a few times (the Balcon de Europa hotel does great ice creams and cakes!) as well as exploring the local villages a bit too.
All in all it was a wonderfully peaceful week away and Javier and Rosario are absolutely perfect hosts - nothing was too much trouble.
Once again - thank you both for making our holiday so enjoyable!

what a paradise here in El Torin....very private accommodation with great view and lots of activities in the surroundings (nature, culture, good food, shopping etc). but if you only want to read a good book next to the swimmingpool - that is great too! the drive to the cottage looks a challenge for Dutch (our country is rather flat), but actually it is easy.
Javier and Rosario are great hosts and the atmosphere of the cottage can't be captured in words. enjoy your stay if you choose for this place..you won't regret.

We had a wonderful week at El Torin. The accommodation is second to none, the position and views are perfect for an away from it all holiday, yet not too far from all amenities. Rosario & Javier are perfect hosts and really made us feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Highly recommended.

We have been to El Torin for the last 3 years. Javier and Rosario make you feel very welcome and are thoroughly wonderful people (and they let me practice my Spanish on them). The first time we stayed at Arcos de la Almona, we knew we had found a very special place and very special people. Javier and Rosario made us welcome from the first moment and their children Claudia and Nicolas are charming. We have stayed at Arcos many times since (at different times of the year) and Dachita at Christmas on one occasion, and have visited all the other houses. The properties are of excellent standard and the hospitality provided by Javier and Rosario is outstanding. We have just come back from a wonderful two weeks at Arcos and are counting the weeks until we return!
