The Andalucia region
The Costa del Sol ("Sunny Coast" or more literally, "Coast of the Sun") is a region in the south of Spain, in Andalusia, comprising the coastal towns and communities along the Mediterranean coastline of the Málaga province.
It includes the city of Málaga and the towns of Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara, Estepona, Manilva, Vélez-Málaga, Rincon de la Victoria, Nerja, Frigiliana, Torrox and Casares. The Costa del Sol extends from the cliffs at Maro in the East to Punto Chullera in the west. Settlement in the region dates back to the Bronze Age, and has been colonized and ruled by many cultures such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths and Moors, before the Reconquista.
Historically its population lived in the fishing villages, and in the "white" villages a little distance inland, in the mountains running down to the coast. The area was discovered and developed to meet the demands of international tourism in the 1950s and has since been a popular destination for foreign tourists not only for its beaches but also for its local culture. The area is particularly famous for its towns like Marbella, which provides the Costa del Sol with its reputation for being a playground for its super-rich and famous visitors.
Frigiliana is a town and municipality , east "Costa del Sol",in the province of Málaga, in southern Spain. The municipality is situated approximately 56 kilometres from Málaga, the provincial capital, and approximately 6 kilometres from Nerja s´beach.

"The Sweet Smell of Success"
When we arrived at Alqueria del Duende, I turned to my friend and said "we've really aced it haven't we?!". I went as part of a group of 14 friends, some couples some singles and it was the perfect choice for a relaxed yet fun holiday. This is a comfortable, cosy yet stylish villa. The view is utterly amazing. All decoration, furniture and fittings have been chosen with care (not just whack some second hand chairs round a table and leave them to it job). The pool is big enough for lengths or a bunch of people floating about on inflatables (and has underwater lights, if, like me, an after dark dip in a private pool has always been a bit of a dream). Good outdoor spaces. A choice of three areas to eat communally (inside, terrace or out at the separate barbecue area). The property and grounds are big enough that even filling it with 14 people, you could still go off and get a bit of space to yourself if you felt like it, and the many bathrooms mean it will always feel like a house not a hostel. I think it would also work well for a large family or for a few families holidaying together. Emilia and Manuel are friendly, accommodating and helpful. They clearly care about keeping the place looking good and working well for their visitors, and live just in the village so you can always contact them if you have questions/needs. Frigiliana is a cute old-town village. Has several very nice places to eat or grab a drink (there's even a tiny cocktail bar and a wine bar opposite). From here you can go for some lovely walks in the hills or to streams and pools. You can walk to the centre of the village from the villa, no more than 25 minutes door to barstool. Nerja you have to drive for a good 15 minutes (or take taxis from Frigiliana). The beaches are mixed but the smaller coves are very nice. Outside of town there's some lovely ones too. There's loads of good places to eat or drink, some nice shops and the old town near the seafront is extremely picturesque. All in all, having always been someone who'd rather be discovering a city from a cheap hostel, I now wonder how long I'll be able to resist having another holiday here. It's a little bit of paradise.

"Gorgeous atmosphere around the site, fantastic fun for all ages"
Incredible good time for every one, adults, teenagers and children. Everything in the house worked perfect. With all things you may need to make your time perfect. The site is gorgeous, in a mountain slope in fornt of Frigiliana village and the sea. Nothing negative to be said. Emilia (The owner) made things so easy for us, it is better than a five stars hotel. You can choose going to: the beaches, walk in the mountains of the natural park, visit Frigiliana, or just seat down in the terrace of the house and enjoy a peacefull time and a fantastic view. I will recommend it to all my relatives and friends.
