Beautiful undulating countryside, with small mixed farms and vineyards and studded with ancient stone-built hamlets villages and small towns. Peaceful and unspoilt, traffic generally light outside of large towns, it's often possible to drive for miles along country lanes and see only tractors and a few cyclists. An ideal base for exploring the area from Dordogne to the Pyrenees. Locally places worth seeing include nearby Penne d'Agenais, one of the French strongholds of Richard the Lionheart, and Moissac on the Canal des Deux Mers with its fascinating medieval cloisters, artists quarter and lively cafes.
The Frespech area
Nearby: swimming lake in season, horse riding, water skiing, fishing, boats for hire, excellent walking country. Many superb local restaurants within 20 minutes drive, country markets, good shopping in Agen c 15 miles. During the summer season there are frequent outdoor events such as musical evenings, fireworks, gourmet evening markets in picturesque towns, son et lumiere presentations etc.

A car is essential for this property. Nearest airport is Bergerac served by Ryanair and Flybe, alternatives are Bordeaux, Limoges, Toulouse or Carcassonne. Brive la Galliarde is also starting services from the UK. It is essential to check the opening times of car hire desks, as at some locations flights arrive after the offices are closed. Driving from the UK can be enjoyable, we can suggest routes and stopovers. Some of our guests have used two or three days either side of their stay to see more of France. We have also travelled by Eurostar and TGV to Agen, the nearest major station and hired a car from there.
