Badgers Oak at Calbourne Water Mill is a luxury eco-house set within the grounds of the only working water mill on the Island.

Badgers Oak is built with a log cabin feel, from cedar and larch with wooden floors. These luxury homes are environmentally friendly with geo-thermal underground heating, and bio-bubble treatment for waste, which then gets converted to organic matter and fed back to the earth.

Internally, Badgers Oak is furnished to a high standard. Externally the property boasts a balcony running the length of the property with beautiful views down to the stream at the bottom of the field.

Calbourne Water Mill is one of the Islands most popular attractions, set within 35 acres of countryside. As the only working watermill on the Island this is a must see attraction. Watch the traditional flour making process using the 17th century water and stone mills and if this makes you hungry you can even buy the bread on site!

Everything you will need for a fun packed holiday can be found on site including punting, miniature golf, clay play, swings, cafe and giftware. The chalk bottom river close by boasts many fish including trout, eels, carp and Koi Carp.

West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is the ideal spot for catching a glimpse of the local wildlife, walking or just enjoying the beautiful countryside. From here take a visit to one of the Islands many attractions including Freshwater Bay, Alum Bay's famous coloured cliffs or the Needles, one of Britain's most famous landscapes.

"Excellence .......but"

Very warm welcome and high class accommodation with all you would want and more including after hours golf in the grounds and boats on the mill pond
The location is very quite and in general for the island a bit remote as we are used to staying on the Eastern part of the island which is a bit more alive.However this location is ideal if you are a walker for example.
The but in all this is there is no phone signal unless you walked up the hill to find it and no info as to where an the nearest public call box was in case of out of hours emergency and as always with the island you have to factor in the ferry crossing which can add on average another £100 to your holiday.
Also,although lovely at first the peacocks became a pest and you were unable at times to open the verandah doors because of them trying to get in as they were not afraid of humans at all and you were continually washing their dropping off of the decking so not too nice if you have young children.Such a pity as it did spoil it a little in the evenings when you would want to sit out there and enjoy a drink or meal outside.
On the whole this was an enjoyable stay and would recommend a visit
