10 Bayclose is a 2nd Floor Penthouse Apartment with stunning sea and coastal views over Freshwater Bay situated in a peaceful rural location 5 minutes easy walk from the promenade and beach yet close to local shops and villages. The Isle of Wight has 17 award winning beaches. Several of these are within a short distance from the flat for instance Colwell Bay, Compton, Brook and Totland. The picturesque harbour village of Yarmouth is 3 miles away by car or is a pleasant walk partially along the Yar Estuary. There are many country and downland walks from the doorstep. One of these walks is the Tennyson trail part of which you can pick up from a footpath near the apartment. This walk takes you via the Tennyson monument to the Needles and the Needles Old Battery owned by the National Trust. The county town of Newport is 12 miles away with its excellent variety of shops and supermarkets. However for every day needs there is a traditional, well stocked village shop just 5 minutes walk away. The apartment has a balcony from which there are also fantastic sea views. It has a table and 4 chairs directly accessed by French doors from the sitting room. Free WiFi. Some DVD's, board games and binoculars provided. Buckets, spades, beach mats, tennis balls provided.
Accommodation comprises of:-
A Fully fitted kitchen with Gas hob and Gas oven; Fridge with ice making compartment; Dishwasher; Microwave; Washing Machine; 9 Cup Espresso Italian Stove Top Coffee Maker; DAB radio.
A large and spacious sitting/dining room with fantastic sea views. 2 new cream leather settees - one 3 seater and one 2 seater. new 42" flat screen television.new DVD player. new Ipod docking station/speakers. Dining table and 4 chairs. French doors onto a balcony from which there are also wonderful sea views.
There are two good sized comfortable double bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. All beds are made up with cream Egyptian Cotton Bedlinen. The front bedroom (double bed) has sea views down to Freshwater Bay and the beach. The bathroom is in between the 2 bedrooms. There is a bath with mixer taps and shower over. Basin and WC.
Full Gas central heating - this is a very efficient system!. Radiators are thermostatically individually controlled and the flat can be as warm as you wish for as long as you wish! Also the flat is very well insulated and very warm in winter!
Free unlimited Wifi if you bring your own laptop/tablet.
Duvets, pillows, and Cream Egyptian cotton bedlinen is provided (beds made up for your arrival). Bath towels and hand towels are also provided (1 set per person).
Tea towels and dishcloths are also provided. Please Note though that Beach Towels are NOT provided.
Binoculars are provided for guests use but please do not take them off the premises.
Welcome tea tray ready for your arrival.
The flats have their own off road very private car which cannot be seen from the main road and each of the 10 flats has its own dedicated parking space marked with the flat no.
We welcome children of all ages. However we do NOT provide any equipment for babies and toddlers. Also please note that babies and toddlers are counted as people in our maximum sleeping capacity of 4 persons.
No smoking at all either inside the flat OR on the balcony.
Please note we do not accept same sex groups under the age of 25.
Please note no outdoor shoes or boots to be worn in the apartment.
Change over day - we aim to be as flexible as possible subject to availability so do please ask if your preferred start day is available and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.
Arrival time is anytime from 3.15 p.m. onwards. Departure time is by 10.00 a.m.
Ferries - There is a discount code for ferry crossings with Wightlink - MP14SPG - gives 20% off bookings between March and end of November.

Dear Mrs Dineen
This is a really lovely apartment, equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The balcony and main bedroom have genuine sea views and the whole flat is very spacious. The key box entry system takes all the pressure off when coming from the ferry as you do not have to worry about being there at a particular time to meet someone. Freshwater Bay is very unspoilt.
The flat has everything you could want including buckets and spades to borrow. We would certainly come again (June 2014).

Myself, husband, daughter and fiancé have just returned from one week's holiday at your flat. We have been regular visitors to the Island for many years, so know it well.
However, I can safely say that we have never stayed in such a lovely apartment and location as yours. Everything was as stated in the description and more! It was clean, well equipped and very comfortable, everything was to hand, making for a lovely holiday (even the weather was kind)!
I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely flat and hope to return myself one day.
If it is in order I would like to post a similar review on Trip Advisor, as this little gem needs to be shared!

About this location
The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight covers an area of 380 km2. A large part, much of which is on the West of the Island where our apartment is situated, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Island boasts 57 miles of varied coastline and 258 km2 of farmland.
There are hundreds of miles of interesting walking routes whether they be coastal, downland or inland - you can access several walks directly from the apartment without using your car. There are many villages both inland and coastal. Newport is the County town of the Island. It has an excellent variety of shops, boutiques and supermarkets - Morrisons, Sainsburys, Lidl, M&S and BHS to name but a few. It also holds a Farmers Market every Friday. A Waitrose in East Cowes and an Aldi in Cowes means we are spoilt for choice! There is also an Arts Centre, a Multiplex Cinema and a large leisure centre in Newport. There are many attractions such as stately homes, forts, castles, an Abby and gardens, many of which are owned by the National Trust and English Heritage - one of these is Osborne House at East Cowes. This was the summer home and indeed the final residence of Queen Victoria. There is plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities - sailing, surfing, body boarding, windsurfing, paragliding, swimming, sea canoeing, cycling, golf and horse riding. Or why not take a boat trip round the Island or go on an organised sea fishing trip. If railways are your interest take a trip on the Isle of Wight steam railway at Havenstreet.
Bayclose is set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) and is also in a Conservation Area as is most of Freshwater Bay. Locally, Yarmouth and Freshwater have a good variety of local shops and cafes as well as a Co-op, a Sainsbury's Express and a leisure centre. Just down the lane from the apartment is Dimbola Lodge - Dimbola was the home of the celebrated Victorian Photographer, Julia Margaret Cameron. Now it is a museum dedicated to her life and work. It also has a tearoom and bookshop and the picturesque thatched church of St. Agnes is 100 yards up the road. There are also a number of pubs and hotels in the vicinity.

With regard to your comment that the turning into the car park was tight I have to say that no one else has ever commented on this. If there was a vehicle parked obscuring access then the vehicle would have been parked without authority since the land adjacent to the turning is owned by the flats and there is no parking allowed in that area.

I am glad that overall you enjoyed your 2 night stay in our sea view apartment. Just to comment on your complaints. 1) With regard to soap - we do not and will not be providing soap. Bed and Breakfast and Hotels do of course but not many self catering places. We do provide washing up liquid, dishwashing tablets, kitchen paper, toilet rolls, and a tray set up with tea, milk and biscuits. 2) You mention that the light above the sink in the bathroom burned out during your 2 nights. This is unfortunate but I am sure you can appreciate that I cannot second guess when a bulb may go. I had checked the bulbs on the day you arrived and it was working then. If you had rung us or emailed us when this happened we would have come round immediately with a replacement bulb or sent someone round if we were not available. It is disappointing that you left this comment on a review site without giving us the chance at the time to rectify the problem. 3) You say the internet did not work on your second day. I can only apologise for this as I do not know what happened. I can only think it is one of those things that occasionally happen. We lived in the apartment for 3 months over the winter and never had any issues. Again though had you rung or emailed us we would have done our best to try to sort the problem out for you but again if we are not told at the time of any problems then we cannot sort them out. In our confirmation letter we do say that we live close by and are on hand to sort problems out. I am disappointed that you were not entirely happy with the service because when you emailed originally to say you were coming over without a car I went out of my way to be helpful - explaining you had to get the train from Waterloo to Lymington and then get the ferry to Yarmouth. I even gave you links to web pages for both the local bus services and some taxi numbers so I do not know what more I could have done. Our directions for arriving by car are very clear indeed and up until now we have not had anyone who has had difficulty finding the place. You did ask the local bus driver to call us to confirm where to drop you off which I thought was very helpful indeed. Again with the collection of the key - how could that have been improved I wonder since the key is left in a key code box for your convenience at any time you wish from the stated arrival time. 3 out of 5 is very low for the facilities and amenities but fortunately no one else has thought this so far so I am sorry that our apartment did not provide you with the facilities and amenities that you wanted. We do state very clearly in our advertisement what facilities we provide and if you could see that we provided something you wanted I would have thought you would have checked before booking.

I am sorry that you found the WiFi to be hit and miss during your visit. I don't know why since we ourselves lived in the apartment between October and March and I can honestly say that we never had a problem during this time and we had 3 computers in constant use during that time, also no one else since then has mentioned this being a problem! Hopefully it was a one off that happened during your visit for which I can only apologise but of course it was out of our control!

With regard to there currently not being a wardrobe in the bed room with the double bed in - we have only recently bought this apartment and as a result we are still trying to find a wardrobe that will work in that bedroom. However the wardrobe we have put into the twin bedded room is of a large capacity and can easily accommodate the requirements of 4 people.
