Silver Point Villa
Bungalow | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
The home is beautifully located on a large lot, just a couple of minutes walk from a lovely white sand beach. You even have a glimpse of the ocean from windows on the front of the house. The back of the house opens onto a gorgeous inland waterway, where you can watch beautifully coloured tropical fish, including spotted eagle rays, swimming by, while frigate birds fly overhead, herons perch on the dock posts, and humming birds dart around looking for their sweet treats. Right on the water's edge is a covered tiki-bar with picnic table and benches where you can enjoy al-fresco meals overlooking the water - maybe fish freshly caught off the dock! And quite often, you can enjoy all this with sunsets to die for!
The house itself is comfortable, spacious and open plan with two conventional bedrooms - one king, one double. The third bedroom was converted to add more space to the living area, but can be closed off , for privacy, with an attractive curtain.
The house is located in the lovely Silver Cove area of Freeport, just a two minute walk from the beautiful white sand beaches and a five minute drive from the ever-popular Port Lucaya Marketplace with its lively atmosphere, colourful shops and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket.
When staying at Silver Point Cottage, you can walk across to the lovely beach in the mornings, lunch at your own private tiki bar on the water's edge at mid-day, lounge in the spacious grounds in the afternoons, surrounded by bougainvillea, hibiscus, frangipani, ornamental palms and an abundance of coconut palms. You could enjoy a good book and cool drink in one of the shady seating areas, or cool off with a swim in the waterway, which is easily accessed via steps from the wooden dock.
When the sun goes down, you can cook indoors in the well-equipped kitchen and dine in the formal dining area surrounded by windows looking out on the moon-lit water, or you could return to the tikki bar and enjoy the cool evening air on the water's edge, maybe also cooking outside on the gas grill. You could walk to the beach where Anton's open-air beach bar prepares food each evening and prepares a bonfire twice a week. There is a restaurant in the resort a short walk down the street and a five minute drive or taxi ride will take you to Port Lucaya, where you will have a wide selection of eating places.

The Grand Bahama Island region
Spread over a large expanse of Atlantic Ocean, the 700 islands of The Bahamas bask in breezy semi-tropical sunshine year round. About one hundred of the islands are minimally inhabited, and just a small handful has any kind of sizeable population.
Starting just 50 miles from the Florida coast, the archipelago swoops southeast for some 600 miles, almost to Haiti and Eastern Cuba. The capital, Nassau, is located on New Providence, while the second city, Freeport, is on Grand Bahama. The remainder of the islands, known as the Family Islands, including Andros, the Abacos, Eleuthera, and The Exumas, are very accessible, thanks to a couple of small, but very reliable, local airlines.
The greatest asset of these islands is the incredible sea, which they ornament. Colours range from pale crystal green in the Bahama banks to deep regal blue in Exuma Sound and the awesomely deep Tongue of the Ocean. The water is so clear that you hardly need a snorkel mask to view the astonishing array of marine life at the countless coral reefs. Following a close second to the water are the beautiful white sand beaches which surround the islands.
LOCATION AND AMENITIES
The island boasts an excellent infrastructure with good roads, public transport and reliable power, telephone and utilities.
There are also several championship standard golf courses, world class scuba diving, excellent boating and good fishing. There are various sports and social clubs, a theatre, cinemas, casino and a wide choice of fine dining from the delicious local Bahamian fare to a range of international cuisine and gourmet restaurants.
Grand Bahama is just a short 25 minute flight from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or the Bahamas capital, Nassau, all of which have a large range of air links to the rest of the world.
