About the home

Casa dos Golfinhos is an immaculate spacious high quality, luxury villa (built in 2006); ideally located, very close to Obidos Lagoon and the stunning beaches of Foz do Arelho. This area is known to be amongst the most beautiful and unspoilt in all of Europe.

The villa enjoys a quiet and peaceful setting. Enclosed gardens with private swimming pool, ideal for children. The barbecue, decking area and the various seating areas (for eight +) provide the perfect setting for relaxing by the pool, day or night.

The villa is just a few minutes drive from the spa town of Caldas da Rainha, where there is access to all amenities, including the local markets, perfect for bargain hunting! There are countless excellent and inexpensive restaurants for dining out

Casa dos Golfinhos is only a 5 minute drive to the stunning beach of Foz do Arelho and a stone's throw from Obidos Lagoon. There are alternative beaches in either direction, including the beautiful Sao Martinho do Porto, which is only an easy 15 minute drive away. We are perfectly located and only 5 km from the A8 motorway; the villa is within very easy reach of the historic towns of Obidos, Alcobaca, and Fatima. Many of the top ten sights of Portugal are within very easy driving distance of this area

* The large lounge has 6 French doors, two of which overlook the pool and have an excellent view to the lagoon.

* Two sofas and other seating provided in lounge. There is Satellite TV, a DVD player, a video player.
A range of English books, DVDs and videos are provided for guests' use.

* Modern fully equipped kitchen with granite work surfaces with seating for six.

* Utility room near to kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer (sliding door from kitchen to utility).

* One downstairs bedroom with two single beds (can be made up as a double)

* Fully tiled downstairs shower room with fitted units, toilet, basin & stand-alone shower cubicle.

Upstairs

*Master bedroom has wood laminate floor and two balconies; there are beautiful views from both sides.
En-suite bathroom with shower and his / hers sink. Changing area.

* Two further bedrooms, each sleeping 2, one bedroom with private balcony and the best views!

* Fully tiled main family bathroom has a shower, bath, WC, bidet, single basin.

Other facilities

* Ironing board, iron and hair-dryer are available for guests to use

* A cot and high chair always available.

* Portable fans are available (not normally required because of the gentle sea breeze)

* The private swimming pool is approximately 10 metres X 4.5 metres. Water depth: 1 metre at shallow end (access via Roman steps), 2 metres at deep end (access via ladder)

* There is a set of quality wooden garden furniture, table with parasol and ample garden seating for 16 persons +

* 6 sun-loungers are available for guests' use

* The decking, swimming pool and pool terrace all have lighting

* Children should be supervised when using the swimming pool or back garden

* We require 30% reservation deposit on booking the villa, with the remainder payable a minimum of 6 weeks before departure.

* Booking within 30 days of travel must be paid in full

* Changeover day is Saturday unless specifically arranged

* Arrival time should be after 3.00 pm and the departure should be before 10.00 am

* Breakage deposit of £100 repayable on last day of holiday subject to inspection by the local agent.

* Strictly no smoking inside the property please

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The Silver Coast region has superb scenery, consisting of glorious sandy beaches, breath-taking views from cliff tops and tranquil atmosphere within the countryside.

Not only is the area well known for its beautiful scenery, but also for it's wealth of historical buildings, churches, monasteries, fortresses, cathedrals and museums. The medieval walled town of Obidos is only a 10 minute drive. There are also a wide range of other interesting places to visit, including Alcobaca, Batalha, Leira, Coimbra, Tomar, Fatima, Torres Vedras, Santarem, Rio Maior, Lisbon, Sintra; all are well within 1.5 hours leisurely drive. There are several World Heritage Sites nearby.

The Silver Coast is considered to have a mid climate with temperatures ranging up to 35ºC in summer and 10ºC to 15ºC in winter. Summer is from June to September.

The Foz do Arelho / Nadadouro area

The villa is located less than 5 minutes walk from the lagoon and Sailing Club. A 5 minute drive to the sea and beaches of Foz do Arelho. As well as local facilities in Foz (small supermarkets, a butchers, bread shop, chemist, post office, internet cafe, cafes, bars, restaurants etc.), the villa is only a short 10 minute drive from the nearby spa market town of Caldas da Rainha (banks, quality shops, larger supermarkets, daily fruit/veg market, fish market, the famous Monday market [this is a must during your stay!]).

Several top notch Golf courses are nearby, including Praia del Rey (30 minutes) and Quinta do Brincal [Golden Eagle] (15 minutes).

Local sailing schools, wind and kite surfing is very popular in Foz and nearby Baleal.

There are nearby beaches at Foz do Arelho (5 minute drive), Sao Martinho do Porto (10 minutes drive), Nazare (20 minutes drive); heading south are Peniche and Baleal (both about 15 minutes drive).

There is a gokarting circuit near Bombarrel (approx 25 km).

“Fabulous.. Nice area close to the Lagoon with plenty of places near by to visit.” I, stayed in the Villa for a couple of weeks with my family. It was a short stroll to the Lagoon and if you follow the road it takes you to a small town with a number of market style shops and a nice beach leading out to the Atlantic. The kids loved the pool and we enjoyed sitting out on the evenings looking out towards the Lagoon. We visited Obidos which was a small village with lots of character and a couple of other resorts along the coast. There was also a great water park with outdoor slides not too far away.. take some pack up and a blanket and crash out whilst the kids play. Over all a very well looked after rental close to attractions. Response: Thanks for the review; glad you mentioned the water park which is called "Sportagua" near Peniche, just along the coast.

“Fabulous holiday villa overlooking Obidos lagoon” Travel to the property was an easy 50 minutes drive from Lisbon airport. My wife & I had a superb holiday with my daughter and her children. The villa was well equipped, spacious and with a lovely swimming pool to the rear of the property. The views from the villa were fantastic, especially watching the sunset over the lagoon. There was plenty of interesting places to visit in the surrounding area and easy access to the local beach. Restaurants and cafe bars were easily found, offering a variety of meals at reasonable prices. Would certainly return for another holiday. Response: Thanks very much. “Fantastic, relaxing holiday, superb” The villa is virtually brand new, very spacious with lots of room & in a great location. We received excellent directions on how to find the the house, very easy! Once there my teenage kids loved the fact it was so close to the lagoon & the sailing school. Renting sailing boats was quite cheap to do, fantastic to be almost on the doorstep too. The views from the balconies of Casa Golfinhos were absolutely stunning! Inside the villa we found a file full of useful information about places to see, things to do. The owners obviosuly stay there a lot because there are all kinds of things that made us feel at home, such as a fully functional kitchen, DVD's, reading books etc. There were plenty of places around to eat out very cheaply, which was great. There's wifi so I could use my laptop & keep up to date with e-mails etc. The lady who managed the villa we found to be very helpful to us. It was very difficult to find fault with any part of our stay. One of the best family holidays we've had for a very long time. Thanks a lot. Absolutely perfect villa for a family holiday, pool fantastic and lots of room; nice touches with all the DVDs to watch; loads of information to hand about things to do / places to visit. The lounge is fantastic for the family to congregate.
