About this location
The Central Portugal region
The Silver Coast has a perfect climate. Winters are mild with daytime temperatures averaging about 17 degrees. In the summer, cooling Atlantic breezes mean a comfortable 27 degree daytime average. The Silver coast enjoys around 275 days a year of sunshine.
The beaches and seaside towns make this region the most popular holiday destination for the Portuguese. The most spectacular beaches are those at Foz Do Arelho, Salir Do Porto, Sao Martinho do Porto. The beach at Foz is unique because it caters for small children and families with acres of soft white sand leading into shallow, calm waters of the Obidos lagoon. Any yet, the western coastline leads directly into the Atlantic and is a favoured surfing spot for locals.
The local cuisine is dominated by the fresh fish and crustaceans of the area including swordfish, sole, sardines, squid, octopus and sea snails. The Portuguese also adore meat and cook it to the most varied and flavourful recipes including grilled steak in Port wine or the sucking lamb stewed or marinated in spices then baked and of course pork.
The most popular cheese is "Queijo da Serra", served as an appetiser in nearly all restaurants, a delicious creamy cheese similar in texture to brie.
There are many wonderful places to visit nearby such as Foz Do Arelho (chic cafes, fantastic beaches, surf culture), Nazare (beach, vibrant night light, waterslide park and bull ring), Peniche (fishing port with wonderful seafood restaurants), Obidos (medieval walled town with many fascinating festivals), Alcobaca (World Heritage Monastery) and many golf courses including links at Praia De'l Rey.
Foz do Arelho
Foz Do Arehlo is a seaside village located beside the beautiful turquoise Obidos lagoon and the rugged yellow sands and cliffs of the Atlantic ocean. The lagoon is a protected natural heritage site and hosts a number of Water-based leisure sports, fishing, sailing, surf bars, beach bars, night clubs. The villa is an hour’s drive North of Lisbon, and is ideally situated for easy access to the spa town of Caldas da Rainha, the medieval town of Obidos and a number of world-class golf courses in the area like Praia D’ El Rey (Obidos), Botado Golf Club (Peniche) & Vimeiro (Torres Vedres)
Caldas da Rainha - Situated ten minutes away by car, is the spa town of Caldas Da Rainha (Queen’s Hot Waters), famous for it’s locally made ceramics and thermal cures. It is a great place to visit and explore with good selection of shops, restaurants, museums and daily market selling a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables
Obidos - is an amazing medieval walled town with pretty whitewashed houses enclosed within it’s 14th century walls. It is a short drive from the villa and is a great place to explore the number of alleyways with local handicraft and gift shops. It also has a large selection of excellent bars and restaurants.
Peniche – is Portugal’s largest fishing port and is home to some great surfing beaches. Once you have worked up a hunger visiting the fort at Peniche, there are a number of harbour-side restaurants serving a great selection of fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. Be sure to bring your appetite.
Berlenga Islands – are a rocky archipelago that is situated 12 km from the mainland and can be reached by ferry from Peniche. It is the only maritime reserve in Portugal and is a nesting site for a number of birds. The islands beaches have clear blues seas, making it ideal for swimming and diving. On the larger island (Berlenga Grande) there is an ancient fort, which has now been converted to a rest house.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We are currently looking into a new Saterlite system but we are waiting for the complex to arrange for the saterlite dish to be moved so we get more signal. Again we are looking at install wifi but we are waiting on the complex to run cables from the Villa to the front gate. There is a great ice-cream parlor (Toa-Toa) 2 mins walk with free wifi and great coffee, fresh bread and ice-cream. Hope to see you soon!
