The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
A spectacular unspoilt region right in the heart of Portugal. Accessible from both Lisbon and Oporto.
This part of Portugal enjoys a mild climate with all year round sunshine making it the perfect holiday destination in all seasons. It has beautiful scenery that includes white sandy beaches, tree lined hillsides with fruit and wine fields. Many of the top sights of Portugal are close: Nazaré, Tomar, Coimbra, Lisbon, Fatima, Alcobaca, Fatima, São Martinho, Peniche, Obidos. In front of Peniche are the Berlenga islands, making a visit unforgettable. Nearby also the natural park of the Serra d"Aire e Candeeiros, an inspiring site for walking and bird watching, where also grottos can be found.
Foz do Arelho / Serra do Bouro area
Serra do Bouro lies right behind the dunes of the Atlantic coast and near Obidos Lagoon. It is a protected agricultural area not yet disturbed by tourism. Ideal for walking or cycling.
The Obidos Lagoon is a peaceful oasis that is perfect for an evening stroll, for exploring on the new cycle path or for safe swimming from the inshore beach. It has a nice boulevard with nice terraces and restaurants. All kinds of watersports can be done at the Escola da Vela (www.escoladeveladalagoa.com).
The best surf beaches of Europe are to be found at Peniche, at Baleal (http://www.penichesurfcamp.com).
A superb golf resort is pretty nearby, in the hills of Obidos, called Serra del Rey. The golf course runs along the coast of the Atlantic ocean, a golf experience rarely to be found in Europe. http://www.praia-del-rey.com/
