The North West Ireland region

The General area of North Connacht has a wealth of Loughs and Walks, Rivers and Mountains. The Moy Valley is situated between the Nephin Beg Range of Mountains and the Ox Mountains. The famous River Moy flows and meanders through the valley and holds prolific stocks of Wild Atlantic Salmon, Wild Brown Trout and Sea Trout. The area also has a healthy stock of Pike and fishing is exceptional. There are many golf courses and golf links throughout the region and if you play golf our cottages are well positioned to get you to any Green Tee within a short space of time. Walking and cycling have become another great reason to visit this area and recently the GREENWAY has been established offering both cycling and walking over an area comprising from Castlebar to Achill Island. We are 20 minutes from the starting point in Castlebar. We also are situated right beside the Foxford Way an 18 KM walk across the Ox Mountains. Its a tougher trek than the Greenway as it crosses bogs and mountains.

Foxford and Pontoon are one of the most scenic parts of North Connacht. The many Loughs such as Lough Conn is one of the more famous; its a 10 mile long by 4 mile wide expanse of water some 14,000 acres holding all the game species of fish such as Atlantic Salmon, Wild Brown trout and Sea Trout. This is only one of the lakes and there are plenty more. Pike is also a featured species within the region especially in the Loughs. The river Moy attracts thousands of anglers each year and the search for the Wild Atlantic Salmon is ever popular and many anglers return each year. There is a very active walking club within the area and they organise local walks and day trips within the region, they are very safety conscious so if you decide to go with the group you can do so in the knowledge that you are in good hands. The other attractions for the area are the Foxford Woollen Mills, Museum of Country Life and the Foxford Studio that caters for Art classes and courses.

"Great family weekend with a warm welcome"

Great holiday home - very clean, spacious, comfortable accommodation. The owners were very friendly and welcoming - gave good advice regarding local things of interest, where to eat/shop/take the kids… More

Many Thanks for your review and kind words. Much Appreciated.
