The West Country / Cornwall region
The beautiful rugged coastline of Southern Cornwall, combined with its rich history, makes this area of the West Country a fantastic holiday location.
If the many walks, beautiful coves, stunning scenery and breathtaking panoramic views Fowey has to offer are not enough to keep you occupied during your stay, then worry not, as some of the best attractions Cornwall has to offer are literally 10 minutes drive away – The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and The Monkey Sanctuary - to name but a few!
The Fowey area
Fowey is one of the most picturesque sailing and fishing ports in Cornwall, situated on the southern coast between Mevagissey and Looe. It has remained unspoilt from commercialisation, yet has grown over the years into a popular, chic holiday destination for discerning yachtsman and land lovers alike.
The town is home to an excellent selection of boutique shops and traditional food stores, making it an ideal place for those who enjoy the freedom of self-catering holidays. For the evenings you choose to dine out, there is an excellent selection of restaurants to suit most budgets and tastes, including Nathan Outlaw's award winning signature restaurant at the Marina hotel, the stunning food at the Old Quay Hotel, and, for a special treat, the elegant dining room at Fowey Hall Hotel.

As titled a lovely house in a wonderful location. On arrival a welcome pack was awaiting with tea/coffee, milk, bread, jam, butter, lovely local biscuits, and a nice bottle of wine; all the essentials you'll need on day one. The house itself is wonderfully appointed with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay, the kitchen being the focus where we spent most of the time as it had views over the estuary. The only reason we haven't given it a 5 stars is due to the shower pressure, which on the top floor bathroom tended to be a little weak, plenty of hot water but just no pressure! All the fixtures and fittings are first rate, with comfortable beds and plenty of living space for a family. The location is great, within easy walking distance of the town centre and local shops. There is a pub very close which is pleasant and friendly, and serves good food, although a little quiet. The pub at the bottom of the hill is more vibrant and again serves great food. Note: The hill is quiet steep and narrow but easily walkable for the average person. Within the area there is loads to do, with wonderful walks and drives, whilst the Eden Project is about a 15 minute drive away and is definitely worth a visit. One tip, in the details you'll receive from the owners is a note about a weekly car parking ticket for Cornish car parks; well worth taking this up in advance as it saves a daily walk up to the car park at 09:00 to add more money and covers the majority of car parks throughout Cornwall for a fixed price. We bought it at the local library on arrival but should have bought it in advance! Overall a great place to stay, in a wonderful location and would definitely stay again. |

The main thing to bear in mind is that you cannot park outside for more than a few minutes, so you need to unload outside and then park in the main car park uo the hill. It may not be suitable for frail people because the hill is so steep, but otherwise this house has proved perfect for us on five occasions. |

We booked a trip to Cornwall at the last minute and were excited to find jorick! Given there wasn't much time between booking and arriving, we were really pleased with the booking process and found the owners Jo and Richard really helpful. No detail was spared in the house itself and we instantly felt at home - and fell in love with jorick! It's the perfect location to explore Fowey - which is gorgeous - and Cornwall. We will definitely consider going back in the future. Missing jorick and Fowey already...! |
