Set in its very own tidal creek on the banks of the River Fowey, The Old Sawmills is a haven of tranquillity.
A converted water mill dating back to the 17th century.
Nestled in acres of woodland, the location alone is stunningly beautiful.
Whilst staying at the Old Sawmills you have the feeling of being on your own island, as access to the Sawmills is by boat... yet you can walk out anytime, along the scenic footpath of the Saints way.
The site has seen a wealth of history from medieval merchants to wind the Willows, wartime employment to world famous recording studio.
Located between the charming village of Golant and the picturesque town of Fowey, it's both an ideal base for visiting many of the sights of Cornwall and a perfect setting for simply relaxing and watching the tide lap in. Good fishing can be had from the outer quay and there are many walks that can be joined from the grounds
The Old Sawmills is a dog's paradise too, and well behaved animals are welcome.
The house has been extensively refurbished very recently. There are seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, three of which are ensuite. The house can accommodate a maximum of 16. With a conservatory patio and barbeque Terrace, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view.
There is also a delightful self contained two bed roomed wooden lodge that sits on the edge of the forest at the far end of the creek. This can be booked separately, or together with the main house and can accommodate up to five.

The West Country region
Situated between the charming village of Golant and the historic port of Fowey, the Old Sawmills is within easy reach of many of Cornwall's attractions.
The Sawmills is an ideal base for a walkers as there are several exceptional coast and country side walks that can be joined right from the doorstep of the Sawmills.
Longer or short term boat hire is available in Fowey, making it quick and easy to nip in and out of the town from the Sawmills. River trips, cruises and fishing outings, can all be arranged from Fowey, as well as Canoe and Kayak expeditions.
You are spoilt for choice when eating out, Fowey has a wealth of Restaurants, bistros and tearooms as well as several pubs, all offering food. Even closer to the Sawmills, Golant has the Fishermans Arms, serving decent pub food with lots of seating outside to enjoy the river view. Also in Golant the rosetted Cormorant hotel.
There are some Superb beaches and coves in the vicinity. Readymoney Cove in Fowey is perfect for children, with a sandy beach, swimming platform and loads of rockpools.. Polkerris is also great for families, just a ten minute drive from Golant, it has a shop, pub, and one of the best restaurants in the area, all on the beach. Many more secluded beaches like Coombe and Lantic bay can be discovered by walking the cliffs from Fowey or Polruan.
Or try surfing at one of the fantastic surfing beaches along the north coast, where boards and suits can be hired and surf lessons given.
For a slightly less energetic day out You'll find plenty of Fascinating Historic country houses in the county, including the splendid Lanhydrock which is just a fifteen minute drive from Golant.
Cornwall is often described as the garden capital of the world, and there are plenty of Gardens to visit, particularly the magnificent Lost Gardens of Heligan which is just a few miles away. Even closer to the Old Sawmills, Cornwall's major tourist attraction, The Eden project. The Eden project houses plants from all over the world in gigantic transparent domes, and is worth visiting for the spectacle alone. There's much more than plants however, Hosting hundreads of different events all year round including the
Eden Sessions a series of one day music festivals held every summer.
Also within easy reach you could try;
Taking a nostalgic trip in a steam locomotive on the Bodmin and Wenford railway.
A Boat trip to Mevagissey, Looe or Polperro
Hiring bikes along the beautiful camel estuary trail from wadebridge to Padstow.
And sampling Fish and Chips at Rick Steins chip shop.
See the square rigger ships in the beautifully preserved Georgian working port of Charleston.
watch the wild Monkeys at the sanctuary in Looe.
