House | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
The Rigging is located in the heart of Fowey, Cornwall, and boasts spectacular views of the River Fowey, with close access to many local shops and award-winning restaurants. The river itself is within extremely short walking distance
The property sleeps 8 guests, with 3 double bedrooms, one of which consists of two single beds. There is also a cabin room (small double) with a small step ladder to access the bunk bed. This is most suited to children but can sleep an adult couple.
There is one large family bathroom with a bath and shower and a brand new separate shower/wet room.
The top floor of the house is laid out as open plan, with a modern kitchen, dining area to seat 8, and living area, all with unobstructed views of the river Fowey. This is a very sociable space surrounding a beautiful wood burning stove.
Outside is a private decked terrace and elevated garden offering panoramic views of the river Fowey and across the river to Polruan. The garden is tiered and leads to a enclosed top patio area with bench seating. We provide garden furniture and a BBQ on the decked terrace so you can grill your catch of the day! A small summer house is situated here also, which doubles as a laundry room for guests use.
The garden is secure, but if you are looking to bring your dog, I would only recommend bringing dogs that are not on the hunt for an escape. We have a couple of low hedges that larger dogs would probably be able to negotiate.
There is no parking provided with the property, but there are numerous public car parks within a short walking distance from the property. There are very few properties so central in Fowey that have parking and this adds to the calm feeling in the town, by having very little traffic. The most local car park to the property is a 3 minute walk and costs £30 for a one weeks ticket pass. This can be purchased upon arrival.

The Cornwall region
Fowey is regarded as one of the best places to live in Britain and its lovely narrow streets and traditional artisan shops, hugging the river give it an intimacy lost in so many other places. It is full of life all year round with a working resident community, and is world renowned for annual events such as the literary Daphne Du Maurier festival, Fowey Royal Regatta, and the yearly Christmas market. The river welcomes boatman of all kinds from the dinghy to the ocean racer. There are passing ferry links to The village of Polruan directly across the river, and Mevagissey to the South. Also a car ferry offers access to Polruan and the East to Polperro and Looe. There are five great pubs serving delicious family meals and fresh fish & chips, several excellent cafes and, of course, the excellent local restaurants serving fresh local food. For those preferring to cook at home, there is an outstanding greengrocers, a butchers, a fishmonger, a delicatessen, fish and chip shop, bakers and a small convenience store with a late opening hours.
Readymoney beach offers an easy accessible, safe and fun location for the family, while the hidden Lantic Bay hidden around the headland is one of southwest Cornwall's treasures. It provides breathtaking views, white sand and sun heated rocks perfect for sunbathing on, especially after the walk to reach this hidden spot. A fine example of why Cornwall is famous for its beaches. And if you enjoy staying active there are many other routes in and around Fowey used for short walks, hiking or rambling, giving you holiday variety as well as fresh Cornish sea air.
If you are eager to play a round of golf or two, Carlyon Bay Hotel, Llanhydrock hotel, St Austell golf club, Porthpean and Lostwithiel Golf clubs are nearby, to name just a few.
The nearest town of St.Austell offers sports centres, kids play centres, supermarkets, hospitals, and high street shopping if required.
Further afield towns of Newquay, Polzeath and Perranporth offer world renowned surfing opportunities along with other water sports and exceptional beaches.
The inspirational Eden Project and sensationally beautiful The Lost Gardens of Heligan can be found a short drive from Fowey and are well worth a visit in any weather.
The Eden Project
The world famous Eden Project is a short drive away. It was built in a disused clay pit, transforming it into a rich global garden where people can learn about nature and get inspiration about the world around them. It is much more than a memorable day out in Cornwall. Eden is an educational charity and social enterprise and aims to run transformational social and environmental projects both at eden and globally. The Eden Project has created stunning gardens as well as doing valuable research into plants and conservation. It provides an unforgettable learning experience for all as well as putting on fantastic arts, theatre, ice-skating and te award winning Eden Sessions music shows.
There is always something different happening there, so it is worth checking the website for forthcoming events before visiting. Advanced tickets can also be bought from the website or from the TIC in Fowey.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Heligan, seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, is one of the most mysterious estates in England. Heligan is, quite simply, the nations favourite garden (as voted for by the viewers of Gardeners world and country file).
Its magnificent productive gardens, mysterious walks, jungle garden, wildlife project and home farm are unforgettable and appeal to all ages and even non-garden lovers. If you haven't been, you should.

The Rigging pictures do not give it justice! Beautifully decorated and had everything we needed! Looks out onto the river and the upper decking was much appreciated as we had amazing weather whilst we were there. None of the party had visited Fowey before and have all said we would happily return.
Great communication from the owner :)
Loved our stay and would definately return!!
