Cornwall has a strong sense of tradition and throughout the year this can be experienced in various events like folk festivals, sailing regattas, village fetes, carnivals and agricultural shows in the county, giving you the perfect opportunity to sample a wide range of traditional fayre including cider, pastries, clotted cream, real ales and of course freshly caught fish and shell fish.
The Fowey / Golant area
Golant is a small village on the banks of the Fowey river, which has a village pub, cormorant hotel and st Sampson's church. The village is 2 miles away from Fowey and within 6 miles of the Eden Project. The village holds its own carnival which is being held on Saturday 6th August 2011 and 14th August; it is split over 2 weekends due to the tides.
Fowey is a beautiful coastal town at the end of the Estuary. Within Fowey there is a museum, an aquarium, river trips, private boat hire, allowing you to explore the quite creeks and inlets of the fowey river and on the right tides passage to the town of Lostwithiel or village of Lerryn. There are also many restaurants and bars within Fowey.
