About the home

The cottage is decorated and furnished to a high standard. The accommodation, grounds, facilities and the local area combine together to make La Haute Mancelière an ideal holiday location for families.
We offer the perfect place for you to explore the region or simply relax in the garden or around the 10m x 5m pool, which is enclosed and heated to 27°c, April - October. In the large 2 acre garden you can play badminton and football, or play boules on our 10m x 4m boules court. There is a play area for children with swings, a slide and a trampoline. We also have several adult/child bikes which you can use to explore the area during your stay here.
The property is in a superb location with many places of interest to visit, such as Mont St Michel, St Malo, Dinard and Dinan. It is only a 40 minute drive to the long sandy beaches of the beautiful Emerald coast. The nearest town, St Brice-en-Coglès, is only 3kms away.
We are located within easy reach of many French Channel ports and only 45 mins drive from Dinard and Rennes airports, both of which have low cost airline flights from the UK.

The oldest of the three cottages, this 2 bedroomed property has many original features including a spiral staircase, open stone walls and exposed oak beams. It sleeps 4 and is ideal for a young family, with a large double bedroom and a smaller bunk bedroom. Shower, toilet, washing machine, microwave, TV (English and French), DVD and VCR. Outside there is a private terrace and dining area, complete with wooden garden furniture, parasol, and barbecue. Heating : Electric Acova radiators.

The pool is open from April to October. It measures 10m x 5m with depths from 1m to 1.8 m and has roman steps for easy access in and out. The pool area is fully enclosed and has lockable double action security gates. The pool itself is fitted with an all weather cover which corresponds to the new French swimming pool security regulations. The cover is raised or fully removed during the day, but when lowered the pool is transformed into an indoor pool - so if the weather is cool you can still enjoy a swim in comfort! It also keeps the pool temperature very warm, so it's comfortable to swim in even in spring and autumn. The pool is heated to 27°c (even in Spring and Autumn!)

Sunbeds, cushions and parasols are provided for guests to use for relaxing around the pool.










Separate patio and barbecue areas

Every cottage has its own patio area with a lovely view out to the garden. Barbecues, tables, chairs and parasols are provided for each cottage.

Grounds

The 2 acres of lawned garden are ideal for families to picnic in, or play sports such as cricket, rounders, football and badminton.

There is a trampoline (3m diameter) with safety net and a play area for young children,with swings and a slide.

At the back of the pool, there is a 10m x 4m boules court near a small orchard, with apple, pear, plum, peach and hazelnut trees.

Conditions

Refundable security deposit of £200. 25% of rental taken as deposit at time of booking, with balance payable 6 weeks before rental start date.

The Brittany / Ille-et-Vilaine region

The property is only 45 minutes drive from the long sandy beaches of the Emerald coast between St Malo and Cancale. There are also lots of historical towns to explore - Fougères, only 15kms away boasts the largest medieval castle in Europe. Dinan and St Malo, both fine examples of beautiful medieval towns are close by to explore. No holiday is complete without a trip to Mont St Michel only 20kms away. We are only 1h30 mins drive from the Normandy beaches and Bayeux.

The Fougeres / Tremblay area

The surrounding countryside offers many lovely walks and cycle rides, many through established forests which characterize the countryside of the Fougères region. There are at least 4 golf couses within a 45 minute drive of the property for golf enthusiasts and a fishing lake close by for anyone wishing to catch fresh trout for the barbecue!

Tremblay 4kms away, the nearest village, has an 11th Century Church, as well as shops and bars. St Brice-en-Cogles is also only 4km away and this is a larger village with supermarket and restaurants.
The forest of Villecartier is only a 10 minute drive and as well as offering many different walks, there are electronic boats, pony rides and a new attraction, a tree walking 'Parc Acrobatique' high in the trees where you complete a course of varying difficulty whilst attached by a safety harness to overhead cables.

There is also a bar/restaurant at the lakeside.
