Situated behind the sea wall and just a minute or so from the beach, Neptune Cottage is a delightful terraced fisherman's cottage dating back 200 years but now fully refurbished and updated. Located in the popular Chiswell area of Portland it is ideally located for water sports enthusiasts; the National Sailing Academy as well as diving and windsurfing facilities are nearby. The spectacular Chesil beach, which is dog friendly, stretches for miles and is literally behind the cottage, and can be accessed in seconds. As well as enjoying the sun and views on the beach, if you are a keen fisherman (or lady) you may try and catch your tea. Alternatively, you may partake of a meal and drink at the adjacent Cove Inn which has a terrace overlooking the beach or Quiddles, just along the esplanade which serves fresh seafood. Try a walk along the South West coastal path from here which in its entirety is 630 miles long. Returning to Neptune Cottage you have a variety of takeaways, pubs and restaurants including the acclaimed Blue Fish Cafe within a few minutes walk. Local shops are also conveniently located a five minute stroll away. With its character features blended with contemporary interior furnishings, together with its beachside location, Neptune Cottage will be a popular choice.

The Dorset region

Dorset is a county with lots to offer, from astounding natural landmarks such as the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, the beautiful Golden Cap and the popular natural cove at Lulworth to the lively seaside towns of Weymouth, Swanage and Lyme Regis. A week (or longer) self catering holiday in Dorset gives you the time to really soak up the history, feel and beauty of the region, taste the fine local cuisine and enjoy a break from the hectic pace of town or city life.

Fortuneswell

Portland is a tied island just south of Weymouth and one of the largest man-made harbours in the world. It is home to the National Sailing Academy and will host the sailing events for the 2012 Olympic games.

"Not the best !"

No power upstairs on arrival, tv takes 30 mins to warm up ! Kitchen smells like a horse and all kitchen pots dirty! Really steep stairs at the back of the house leading to a pebbled area on the back o… More

We are very sorry that you felt disappointed by this cottage. We have had some great reviews in the past.

However, we would have greatly appreciated the opportunity to try to help you during your stay to investigate any problem with the TV and other issues mentioned, but you preferred not to be disturbed and so we were unable do anything for you. Unfortunately there are occasional issues at properties, which is why we do ask guests to contact us (and indeed we do add this to our terms and conditions) with any problems, we are open seven days a week and situated just a short drive from Neptune. We are sorry that you posted this review before letting us try and help with your holiday. With best wises Dream Cottages
