Our 3 bed/2 bath house in South Fort Myers is within easy reach of the stunning beaches of Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva. Situated in the quiet and sought-after residential area of Wellington it is tastefully furnished and provides a comfortable home from home feel.
The large and fully equipped kitchen and open plan living area open onto a large lanai (with gas barbeque) and spacious swimming pool, overlooking a beautiful lake, featuring a fountain and abundant wildlife. The deck and pool are south facing and so you have daylong sunshine. The 3 bedrooms (a king, double and twin) provide comfortable accommodation for 6. Integral double garage.
Air conditioning throughout. Cable TVs, DVD player and phone.
Less than a mile away are 2 supermarkets and several amenity stores.

The Florida / Florida Gulf Coast region

Fort Myers is situated on the south western coast of Florida and is surrounded by beautiful white beaches. The sunsets here are spectacular and watching the sun set over the water is one of the most enjoyable things you can do. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford set the trend by making their winter homes here (and Fort Myers is still a very popular destination for those wanting to get away from cold winters at home.} It is a year round holiday spot enjoying temperatures above 75F (24C) even in winter. The charming islands of Sanibel and Captiva are a short drive across a causeway but if you really want to get away from it all, the unspoiled island of Cabbage Key can be reached by boat.

There are excellent opportunities for both golf and fishing locally but if you prefer spectator sports, you may catch either the Minnesota Twins or the Boston Red Sox during their spring training.

If shopping is more your thing, you're in the right place! Everything from designer outlets to Walmart to Pro Bass for the sportsman is within easy striking distance. The glamourous boutiques and art galleries of Naples are just a 40 minute drive away. 30 minutes further and you'll reach the famous Everglades, or head north for 1.5 hours and visit the unforgettable St Armands Circle at Sarasota. Why not take the ferry to Key West and spend the day there revisiting Hemingway's haunts.

Whether beaches, shopping or eating are your thing, you'll be spoiled for choice.
Shelling on Sanibel is heaven for some, for others it's the Bell Tower Shops, or those at Coconut Point or the Miramar Outlets. When it's time to eat there are restaurants for every taste and pocket.
A day out for the kids away from the beach might be to the waterpark in Cape Coral, or an educational visit to the
Edison Estate. Why not hire bikes on Sanibel or enjoy the wonders of nature at the J N Ding Darling National Wildlife Reserve. Or what about a day trip to Busch Gardens, 2.5 hours up the I -75? Even Disney is within reach. Or why not just laze about the pool?
One thing is for sure, you'll not have time to do it all or want to leave when it's time to go!

How to get there

The house is conveniently situated about 20 minutes drive from the South West Florida airport at Fort Myers with direct flights available from Toronto, Newark , Dusseldorf and other hubs. Alternatively, you may find it more convenient to fly to either Miami or Tampa (about a 2 hour drive). If your plans include a stay in Orlando followed by some relaxation on the Gulf coast, the drive is about 3.5 hours. The area is well served by all the major airlines and car hire companies.
