We're also close to Torrevieja (great for shopping) and there's plenty of golf courses within 30-40 minutes drive.
Formentera Del Segura
Formentera del Segura has a population of only 1,100 and is as traditionally Spanish as Paella!
It's got the one main road running through the middle, which (essentially) splits the village in two main parts.
Our side is the traditional Spain, the other side is being developed into a small urbanisation with additonal shops, restaurants and bars.
Our duplex is literally around the corner from the village square (with it's quaint church) and town hall. Around this square you'll find many small pubs and tapas bars
The people of Formentera are very friendly and are happy to return pleasantries. Their culture encompasses all of family life, with children being welcomed into the late-night social scene.
We were lucky to witness a big wedding one day as we wandered back from the shops. The whole village turned out for the celebrations!

"FANTASTIC LITTLE GEM"
We booked this apartment last minute as a quiet holiday. The apartment itself is lovely. It's very spacious with everything you can think of.It even has a bath!!Everything worked fine and the shower was goodThe bed was very comfortable which is always a bonus. We took our own travel adapters but there was plenty already in the apartment. The roof terrace is huge, much bigger than we were expecting. You have lovely views over the fields. The photos don't do the apartment justice as its much nicer in real life. The apartment already had the little touches in there like hand soap and washing up liquid and toilet roll. There was even a bottle of Wine and 2 beers in the fridge when we arrived and milk and tea and coffee.
We have never been to Formentera del Segura before. It is a lovely little town and we liked the fact that it was not a touristy kind of place. You are literally 15minute walk through the orange groves to Benimar which has loads of places to eat and purpose built big holiday villas. Definately more of a tourist town.So by staying here you can have the best of both.
We can't comment on the shared pool at the apartment as it wasn't open while we were here.We also saw the big pools in the centre of town which looked fab. Although again not open at the time of year we visited.Prices were pretty cheap in all the bars and restaurants and the Supermarket was very cheap.A bottle of wine for 3Euros and 1 litre of beer was less than a Euro!Look out for the Multi coloured pigeons that are flying about! Apparently the locals dye their feathers! They were beautiful!
We ate in a local Spanish Restaurant one afternoon in Formentera. We were the only Brits in there but what a bargain.8 Euros a head and we had 1 litre of beer, basket of bread, massive plate of salad,Seafood Soup, followed by Casserole and chips,a dessert and coffee! The place was packed with Spanish people.
We ate in the Chinese over at Benimar twice after it was recommended to us by some ex pats.(We were too drunk to remember the first time!!)Also the Yellow Rose of Texas in Benimar was recommended. This is like a Tex Mex Restaurant. You have to book in advance or you won't get a table. We had starters(on hindsight we wish we hadn't!!),the portions were huge! So when our main finally came I admitted defeat pretty quickly. If you love meat then this is your Restaurant. The steak was delicious and we saw others eating racks of ribs which looked like they would feed 3 let alone 1!
We also got a taxi into Guardamar and the taxi took us to a Spanish Restaurant where we had a fabulous paella.
Formentera has lots of little bars and the Supermarket is within walking distance. You certainly don't need a car to holiday here.
Geoff and Sue who look after the property and clean it were really helpful. They live 2 doors away and they filled us in on the area.Geoff picked us up from the airport.
Simon who owns the Property is more than helpful and answers all your questions and more.
We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. We had a great week here and hopefully we will be back at some point.
Dear Peter & Sarah, thanks for your wonderful review ... you can come back any time!!

"Lovely Easter break"
This is a great little apartment, tucked away on the boundary of Formentera allowing a beautiful view over the countryside towards the mountains. The area is very quiet and a short work gets you to the bars and restaurants in Formentera and 10 mins walk and you are in Benijofar. Lovely walks along the river, you can even try the outside gym enroute next to the path. The apartment has two beds and one bathroom. Lovely pool although we didn't venture in as it was too chilly but the balcony is a sun trap and we enjoyed late afternoon sun on it. Fully equipped apartment and would recommend and will return again. Regular communication from Simon the owner wanting to ensure our stay was going well, great service!
so pleased you enjoyed your stay, June - look forward to your return!!
