Strathmore Log chalet is set on the newly developed Lochlands 4* Leisure Park on the outskirts of Forfar, Angus. Facilities on site include the newly open Lochlands Mill restaurant/cafe bar with new children's play park and a Launderette.The chalet is finished to a high standard with its own driveway and patio. It consists of 3 bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twin rooms. N.B Twin beds are of a smaller size, 2'3" wide.The living area is spacious with comfortable sofas, table and chairs, luxury electric fire and a modern kitchen with full size fridge freezer. There is a shower room with WC and separate toilet.The chalet has LPG central heating/ hot water which is included in price. Electricity is by card meter which can be bought from site office.

This quiet park is a gateway to the Angus Glens, a great relaxing place to stay for the keen walker. Furthermore, you can walk the many miles of Forfar network paths around the town taking in the Loch and the Balmashanner monument. This is also a great place for families as Forfar town, just 1/2 a mile away has plenty to offer. This includes a Leisure centre by the Loch side with kids outdoor play park, a neighbouring cricket pitch and crazy golf/9 hole pitch and putt. 'Active kids' run here during the summer months offering indoor and outdoor activities. Forfar also has a swimming pool, ice rink and 'Frosties Funhouse' soft play area. The town centre has 2 major supermarkets, plenty of restaurants and a host of small shops.

The surrounding coastal areas Arbroath(famous for it's 'Smokie') Montrose and the beautiful sandy beach at Lunan Bay provide plenty of opportunity to explore. The vibrant city of Dundee is only a 20 minute drive away with some of its attractions including Captain Scott's ship 'The Discovery'.

The Tayside/Perthshire region

A 25 minute drive takes you to the town of Arbroath, famous for the 'Smokie', haddock fish smoked in a special barrel for around an hour. During the summer months its main attractions includes the Seafront spectacular, with a fantastic airshow and the Seafest, based around Arbroath's maritime heritage. The coastal resort town of Montrose is just a half hour drive with its lovely 3 mile long beach. Great for family fun it offers a Traill Pavilion and Seafront Splash, facilities with a playground, an arcade, a café and an ice cream stall. 13 miles outside Forfar you will find the famous Carnoustie Golf Links. It has 3 golf courses that are open every day and welcome visitors from all over the world. For a spot of retail therapy head to the City of Dundee, a 20 minute drive from Forfar, it is the 4th largest city in Scotland. It has 2 main shopping centres and plenty of restaurants and quaint cafes. One of its main tourist attraction is the RRS Discovery, the ship which took Captain Scott on a great voyage to Antarctica. Also moored at the harbour is the HMS Frigate Unicorn, the 6th oldest warship in the world.

Forfar

Forfar is the county town of Angus with a population of around 13,500. It is also a traditional market town and often hosts farmer's markets in the town centre. It is well known for the 'Bridie', a meat filled pastry that makes a tasty snack. The Meffan Museum is a must visit as it tells you about the history of Forfar. It tells the story of the little cobbler shops to the burning of the witch 'Helen Guthrie'. It also has an art gallery, a meeting place for local speakers and summer clubs for children and groups.

Forfar offers plenty of walking opportunities. The walk around the picturesque Forfar loch is about 21/2 miles and takes a little over an hour. On route take time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and preserved wildlife. There is a ranger base by the leisure centre where you can learn about the environment. For more energetic walks Balmashanner Hill (Bummie) gives you beautiful views over Forfar and the valley of Strathmore. All of the paths are signposted and distances given in miles.

Lochside Leisure Centre is situated within the grounds of Forfar Country Park enjoying the view of Forfar loch. It offers a vast amount of facilities for all ages and it runs a children's holiday club during the summer months. Facilities include a main games hall, drama/dance studio, 2 squash courts, performance gym, crèche facilities, outdoor tennis/football courts, 18 hole pitch and putt course, 9 hole crazy golf and grass 11 a side football pitches. There is also a children's recently refurbished play park.

Stunning Glamis Castle is situated on the outskirts of Forfar. It is the family home of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and the childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Events taking place there throughout the year include The Strathmore Highland Games 8th June 2014, The 40th Scottish Transport Extravaganza, 12th July, 2014 and Romeo and Juliet outdoor picnic play 23rd August, 2014

"Fantastic experience"
