The Central England/Cotswolds region

The Forest of Dean is perfect for those who wish to explore our magnificent Forests.

Once the hunting ground of Kings from the Normans onwards, the Royal Forest of Dean possesses a character, history and culture all of its own. Covering some 24,000 acres, year round it is the ideal location for a short break, family holiday or as a base for touring.

First time visitors are enchanted by the variety of attractions and activities, while those familiar with this peaceful and unique slice of England's heritage return to enjoy its charms again and again.

From Ross-on-Wye in the north to Chepstow in the south, Gloucester in the east and Monmouth in the west, nowhere in the Forest is more than half an hour away by car from Deanfield or The Coach House. Picturesque Parkend village is within easy walking distance with a Post Office, steam trains, restaurant, shops and an Inn.

Forest of Dean

Parkend itself is superbly positioned at the heart of the Forest, putting many amenities within easy reach. Our location could hardly be better, as many regular visitors will testify.

Deanfield and The Coach House back onto the RSPB's Nagshead Nature Reserve's cycle and walking trails. The famous Dean Forest Railway runs to this unspoilt Village. Golf, fishing and cycle hire are all nearby. Lydney, Coleford and Clearwell Caves are just 4 miles away.

Places of Interest nearby are: Go-Ape, Puzzlewood, the international St Pierre golf course, Offasdyke Walk, Clearwell Caves, the Shambles Victorian Village, the Dick Whittington Farm Park, Taurus Crafts, the Dean Heritage Centre, Symmonds Yat, the Nagshead Nature Reserve and the National BIrds of Prey Centre. Dean Forest railway runs to this unspoilt village. We have cycle hire in the village of Parkend to make full use of our award winning cycle trails. Canoeing and abseiling are also nearby.
