The Coachman's Cottage is the ideal home for a romantic weekend for two with its delightful garden for outdoor drinks and meals in the summer and for cosy fireside evenings in the winter. This is a very attractive holiday home as you will see from our photo gallery, located in a great area where you could do something different each day for a week and still have plenty for return visits. We also have families visiting as the cotttage can sleep up to 4 and has one double and 2 single beds.

It is part of The Coach House complex around a sunny courtyard on the western border of the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean. The Coachman's Cottage is the perfect home for family holidays and can be combined with The Dovecote Cottage ( sleeps 8//9) and/or The Coach House (sleeps 12 ) for painting groups, rambling groups, writing groups, photography groups and history groups. The home has 1 bathroom , sitting room, kitchen and 1 large bedroom. There is a south facing garden and terrace.

The property has solar hot water heating and photovoltaic panels for electricity. it is owned by the Wye Valley Arts Centre and any proceeds from the holiday lets support the Arts Centre and its charitable fund for Kidzart.

The Wye Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in recognition of:

industrial heritage in iron, brass, wire, tinplateand copper works.

4/ Wildlife- A quarter of Britain's population of lesser horseshoe bats, a growing population of peregrine

falcons, goshawks, ravens, rare whitebeam, nightjar and lesser known fish like the shad and twaite.

The Coach House, Mork, St. Briavel's is situated between the Wye Gorge, the jewel in the area's crown and the

St. Briavel's plateau. Villages in the area include Goodrich , overlooked by its impressive castle and the riverside settlements of Symonds Yat, Redbrook, Brockweir, Llandogo and Tintern with its wonderful Abbey.

The stunning landscapes and spectacular scenery of The Wye Valley have inspired artists and writers, such as William Wordsworth, Dennis Potter, JRR Tolkein and JK Rowling as well as the many visitors who return year after year.

Use footpaths to explore the woodlands and discover hidden beauty spots or if you prefer more rugged pursuits, there's a choice of cycling, canoeing, rowing, horse riding, rock climbing, abseiling, caving, off road driving, and fishing. If you wish to take a course in painting, drawing, sculpture writing or photography there is the Wye Valley Arts Centre at Llandogo which offers 2 and 4 day courses. For horse lovers and racegoers there are Racecourses at Chepstow and Hereford and Cheltenham is only an hour away. Golf Courses include St. Pierre near Chepstow and Forest Hills.

Within easy driving distance are Bath and Somerset across the Severn Estuary and in the other direction the beautiful Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon.

Forest of Dean

The Forest of Dean was designated a National Forest Park in 1938, the first in England and offers its natural beauty and outdoor leisure facilities. It is one of England's few remaining ancient forests covering 110 square kilometres of woodland for you to enjoy.

Outdoor pursuits include Symonds Yat Canoe hire, Go Ape High Ropes Action, Clay shooting, Archery, Whitcliff Off Road Driving Experience near Coleford, The Beechenhurst Sculpture Trail, Puzzlewood with its pre Roman opencast iron ore mine and unusual maze, Angling Tuition, Family Cycle Trail, Llama and Camel Trekking, Kingfisher Cruise,Dean Forest Railway and lots more. The footpaths nearby include The Wye Valley Walk, Poets Path Walk, Wysis Way and Offa's Dyke Path which runs the whole length of the Welsh Border and passes close by Fly Fishing at Big Well.

The Wye Valley is ideal for walking and seeing wildlife and there are many attractions nearby; There are Several Golf Courses including The Rolls at Monmouth, and the international course St Pierre near Chepstow.

Historic towns nearby include Gloucesterand Tewkesbury with their impressive cathedrals, Regency Cheltenham, Monmouth and Chepstow. There are museums at Chepstow and the Nelson Museum in Monmouth and All Saints Church in Newland known as 'The Cathedral of The Forest ' is worth a visit with it historical goodies. Lots of the nearby villages have local festivals throughout the summer and there are Christmas markets too. Of course its not far to Cheltenham and the The Gold Cup Festival in March.
