The Hampshire region
Hampshire is the largest county in South East England and the third largest shire county in the United Kingdom despite losing more land than any other English county during the Local Government Act 1972 boundary changes.
Hampshire's tourist attractions include many seaside resorts, the motor museum at Beaulieu, with national parks in both New Forest and the South Downs. Hampshire has a long maritime history and two of England's largest ports, Portsmouth and Southampton, lie on its coast. The county is famed as home of such writers as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, as well as the birthplace of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Damerham and Fordingbridge sit just on the edge of the New Forest National Park an area of outstanding natural beauty and a conservation area, where horses, cattle and pigs are left to roam freely. We also have Martin Down only moments away, ideal for long walks, bird watching etc.
There is a wealth of cultural and leisure activities. Whether you are looking for energetic pursuits such as horse riding or cycling, or more sedate opportunities such as walking, sightseeing, there are a myriad of choices.
Nearby towns and villages of interest include; Romsey, Beaulieu & Lyndhurst. Bournemouth and Salisbury are also only a short drive away.
Damerham is a location of notable Neolithic and Bronze Age barrows, and was an important Anglo-Saxon manor mentioned in the will of Alfred the Great.
By the time of the Domesday Book of 1086, Damerham was a major settlement in the possession of Glastonbury Abbey.
You can explore the local area on foot and stop at the Compass for a drink or lunch.. We will supply you with an information pack with suggested walks and cycle rides. You are very welcome to bring your own bike and we are happy to safely store them for you.

"You will want to keep this one under your hat"

"Super relaxing stay near New Forest"
We booked two nights at Greenbanks for a relaxing weekend away. The accommodation itself was spotless and had a very homely, cosy feeling which was just what we were after. The place is split level with the kitchen on the lower floor, spacious bedroom with en suite and large lounge and balcony. Really couldn't have asked for anything more, a lovely place to go recharge your batteries, highly recommended.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and managed to unwind. It was really nice to meet you both. Thank you once again Carol

"Home away from home"
We stayed at Greenbanks on Halloween weekend and had a wonderful weekend. The annex is pristine and Carol is a welcome host with thoughtful touches. Including milk in the fridge, fresh eggs from the hen and tea and coffee facilities all there on arrival.
Everything is modern and beautifully presented. The bed is so comfortable and the bath and shower facilities are what you might expect at a luxurious hotel! We were lucky to have the warmest Halloween ever on our trip so got to enjoy the balcony in the evening with the local fireworks display in perfect view.
The local pub is within a five minute walk and serves great food. New Forest landscape is within a 20 minute drive and the closest town Fordingbridge only about . I'd highly recommend for couples looking for cosy weekend away!
You certainly had a full stay with pumpkin lanterns on the balcony for Halloween and watching fire works the following evening, almost your own private show. I am glad you had a nice relaxing stay. Thank you so much for leaving us a wonderful review and bringing to our attention the light problem with the blind in the bedroom. The curtains have now been adjusted to pull fully, not just for decoration, so you will be able to lay in without the light waking you up.
Thank you once again Carol

"Great location, excellent quality accommodation"
The accommodation was excellent, all looked brand new and very clean. The equipment was equally new and everything we needed was there. The little extras like the toothbrushes, shampoo, and the milk and eggs made a big difference. The balcony has great views, overlooking fields and horses, and was well used to enjoy a drink and the peace and quiet. Thoroughly recommended!
Thank you for your kind review. It is really peaceful on the balcony, you can sit, relax and let the world go by, perfect to unwind and enjoy the lovely weather, I am glad you enjoyed your stay.

"An excellent place to get away and relax"
A great getaway, very well laid out, spotlessly clean and very well kitted out. It's a lovely part of the world where there is lots to do nearby.
The owner is wonderful, helpful but not intrusive. I would happily stay there again.

"PERFECT PLACE TO STAY - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"
We have just returned from our second stay at Greenbanks and once again we could not fault the excellent accommodation, it was spotlessly clean and is furnished to a very high standard with lovely little touches that make it feel like home from home.
It is set in a beautiful rural location with views that de stress you from the moment you arrive.
It is lovely to be able to pick your own vegetables from the garden and collect fresh eggs from the girls (chickens).
Carol and Barry went above and beyond expectations in making us feel so welcome.
We cannot think of anywhere else that we would rather stay so have already booked for next year.
Thank you both once again for a lovely holiday.
It was lovely to see you both again this year. We did enjoy our chats sitting in the evening sunshine. I hope the ducks have settled well into their new home!! Looking forward to seeing you next year. Barry and Carol
