House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
In the Renaissance heart of town, within easy walking distance of the market, shops, bars, and restaurants, our traditional, stone-built 3-storey town house has 3 bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 6 people.
The secluded, south-facing walled garden has a patio area, a gravelled terrace for boules or sunbathing and a charming covered 'summer kitchen' complete with gas barbecue, for shaded lunches or candlelit evenings.
The house is well equipped as a home from home, and is comfortably and sympathetically furnished. With full gas central heating it offers attractive quiet all year round accommodation.
Fontenay is a town of contrasts with narrow winding streets and open squares, wooden framed houses and imposing mansions, quiet parks and a bustling market.
The Vendée countryside is equally rich and varied, with forests, marshes, canals and rivers, and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast all within easy reach whether you enjoy walking, cycling, fishing, golf, water sports or simply sitting in the sun watching the world go by.

About this location
The Pays de la Loire region
The Vendée coast, the Côte de Lumière extends over 120 miles of mostly sandy beaches edged with dunes and pine woods. There are thousands of marked footpaths and bicycle routes across the department, including on the islands off the coast.
Inland, the chief attractions include the Marais Poitevin (an area of marshlands famed for wildlife), the forested area around the village of Mervent and the rolling countryside of the Bocage. In the north of the department, the historical theme park Puy du Fou attracts more than 1.45 million of visitors per year.
Fontenay le Comte is on the edge of the Marais Poitevin, a watery world of wetlands, man-made canals, meadows, dykes and fens, that's the second largest wetland in France after the Camargue. The area can be explored by boat, with or without a guide, or try one of the many cycle paths that criss-cross the region.
The Mervent-Vouvant forest, lake and dam are just a short drive away. The forest is a perfect setting for hiking, riding, cycling and many water activities as well as providing many beautiful picnic spots
