Daisy is situated in an elevated position on a small private development of 8 properties, iin the heart of Fodele............, an unspoilt, picturesque village much treasured by the Cretan people. The private pool area is surrounded by orange groves ; the village church and a wooded area adjoining the river.
There is air conditioning throughout the property supplemented by ceiling fans in the bedroom. The patio doors in the bedroom can tilt as well as open. There are fly nets on all the windows and doors so that the windows can be left open for a nice through breeze.. .
.On the ground floor, there is a lounge with a corner sofa and chair. It also contains wireless internet access, 32" TV/DVD combo and library. It is separate from the new modern fully equipped kitchen which includes a breakfast bar and table. The ground floor is completed with a modern bathroom with shower.
Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms each with king seize double beds. Both bedrooms have separate balconies with panoramic views. The front balcony is very popular choice to chill out for meals or simply to take in a wonderful mountain view. The shower room is situated between the 2 bedrooms ; it is newly refurbished with a shower cubicle.
The roof terrace can be reached through a conservatory roof. It offers 360 degree views and a private viewing area. There is a safety rail for children and solar panels to supply green energy.
THE GROUNDS OF MANDARIN GROVE .
The grounds are surrounded by orange groves ; the beautiful Byzantine village Church, and the village stream flowing through a wooded park. It adds up to a very private setting in an unspoilt rural area with lovely mountain views.
It is located in a traffic free environment, yet only 60 metres from the village square where you can park your car. It is only 100 metres from the village centre, with its shops and 10 Tavernas close at hand. Try as many as you can and be prepared for a culinary feast that is much cheaper and nicer than in the resorts.
The swimming pool and jacuzzi complete a fine rural setting for guests to "chill out". Sun loungers umbrellas, tables and chairs surround the communal pool and jacuzzi area for maximum comfort and relaxation. The whole development has been created with privacy in mind. it is such a pleasant rural environment that some of our visitors are quite content to remain by the pool with occasional excursions to the bakery, local tavernas and the many local walks.
It is an authentic cretan experience to an unspoilt village with no cash machines or English newspapers. The bakery has fresh supplies every day for eating around the pool or your own garden. At the same time Fodele Beach is only 2 miles away so you can take part in water sports ; sunbathe on the free deck chairs or chill in the local tavernas
The English service managers are Paul and Angie and they will meet and greet you no matter what time you arrive.

The Heraklion Prefecture region
Daisy is located in the centre of an old traditional village that is much loved by the Cretan people. It is completely unspoilt : no cash machines credit cards or English newspapers. It feels like you have gone back to the 1950's The house is close to the centre of the village featuring 10 tavernas within easy reach. The local people are hospitable and will want you to share their home grown produce like oranges vegetables, wine and raki
The village itself is in "Orange valley" and there are many opportunities for walking in the mountains or using the local nature trails.. It is the birthplace of the famous painter El Greco and you can visit his museum in the village..It is far removed from the world of all inclusive hotels and night clubs. You are at the heart of Cretan life and this experience may not suit those who prefer the pleasures of all inclusive holidays..
Yet Fodele Beach is only 2 miles away. It is a lovely cove with a nice beach and good tavernas with free deck chairs. There are water sports available.. Our guests enjoy the regular commute between the beach and the village. They much prefer their holiday to be anchored in the village and not a resort. Food is cheaper too !.
The great advantage of Fodele is its central location in the centre of the north coast and close to the main east west highway. It means that visitors can reach most of the outlying parts of Crete during their stay. Crete is steeped in History so you can visit the famous archeological sites at places like Knossus, Phaistos and Gortys. it is well worth taking time to visit the mountains particularly the Samaria Gorge. You will need decent walking shoes and a spare driver for subsequent pick up should you walk the gorge. You can also take the opportunity to visit the former leper colony on the island of Spinalonga, so beautifully portrayed in the book by Victoria Hislop. It is certainly worth a visit and her book "The Island" is in our library.
Our Service Managers will gladly take the time to help you find your way around the island.. They can also organise excursions for you if you prefer not to drive.
Heraklion is the capital of Crete and is within easy reach. The city fully deserves its reputation as one of the Mediterranean's most attractive capitals. Please look away now if your wallet does not wish to know that it is a haven for lovers of fashion, furnishings and night life. You can even extend your holiday by linking up with one of the many cruise ships that stop at Heraklion.
The area offers a rich variety of unspoilt coastlines and mountain scenery and for those of you who are bird watchers or walkers, it is an absolute paradise. For those of you who are not, it is still paradise for your soul. You can visit little villages that never see tourists and offer wonderful cuisine..
There are busier resorts within easy reach such as Agia Pelagia, Lygaria and Bali. Some say a visit is not complete without a visit to George's Restaurant at Cri Cri in Agia Pelagia.
We try to offer a holiday to please everyone, young and not so young ; active or sedentary ; natural or man made.

Some say you must look hard to find the perfect holiday , but we now know where it is . Beautiful village location with very friendly locals , daisy sits in a rustic setting yet is within a very modern small private development which had all amenities anyone could possibly want.We spent 4 weeks in daisy and wished it could have been longer. Everyone from paul and angie, the managers on site ,to the local tavernas owners , to the shopkeepers and the old ladies making lace items in the street , made us so welcome we didn't want to leave.Daisy , perfect home from home in crete.

"Our favourite place to charge the batteries"
We love Daisy and Fodele. We just keep going back and intend to again soon. Daisy is a lovely apartment with everything you could need. Breakfast on the upstairs balcony is a pleasure, as is sitting in the little private back garden when the sun is going down. We are always met by Paul or/and Angie, who help to make the stay totally stress free. There is a lovely modern bathroom going into Daisy this year with shower cubicle etc, rather than the modern wet rooms, so that'll be great. Fodele is a wonderful village - you have to remember that it IS a working village, which means that you sometimes share the mornings and evenings with barking dogs and clucking hens etc - not commercialised at all, wonderful.
