The Tuscany region
Tuscany is known for its landscapes and its artistic legacy. Six Tuscan localities have been designated UNESCO protected sites: the historical centre of Florence(1982), the historical centre of Siena (1995), the square of the Cathedral of Pisa (1987), the historical centre of San Gimignao (1990), the historical centre of Pienza (1996) and the Val D’Orcia (2004).
Tuscany is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance movement, and its artistic heritage includes architecture, painting, and sculpture, collected in dozens of museums in towns and cities across the region. Perhaps the best-known are the Uffizi, the Accademia and the Bargello in Florence . Tuscany was the birthplace of Dante Alighieri ("the father of the Italian language"), Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli.
Tuscany is also well known for its wines, the most famous of which are Chianti, Brunello di Mantalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, it has 120 protected nature reserves. Other agricultural products include Chianina cattle (origin of the famous "Fiorentina" steak) and the production of olive oil, principally in Lucca and the surrounding hills.
The industry comprises factories producing Piaggio motorcycles and scooters. Tourism is the economic backbone of the so-called "Cities of Art" Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Cortona, Pienza, as well as on the coast and in the isles (Elba).
The Villa is ideally situated for visiting Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Pisa, Lucca and Rome - not to mention the small cultural towns of San Gimignano, Certaldo, Vinci and many more. A car is not necessary as you are only 100m from the nearest bus stop that takes you in the centre of Florence. From there you can take a train or bus to any destination.
The seaside towns of Tirrenia and Rossignano are an hour away, Cecina is 1.5 hour with a water park and sandy beaches.Besides wandering in this beautiful city and looking at Renaissance art, there are many other things you can do in Tuscany. For example, you can learn to cook or just taste Tuscan food, do trekking, golf or go to a health spa.
At the property we have leaflets and information on events during your stay.

"All of our dreams and expectations were surpassed by this amazing property."
We went to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. We were my husband and I and 2 single women. (Originally we were supposed to be six, but unfortunately two had to cancel the trip. It was still a reasonable price for what we got.)
The rooms are very large, and authentically furnished with real classical Italian, original furniture. Family photos and paintings are on the walls, giving the feeling throughout that we were in someones home. Nothing sterile, and nothing ratty. Very well maintained and just a pleasure to be in.
The garden is fabulous! Large and beautiful, and at the back it overlooks olive groves and hills. We spent at least 4 evenings here at sunset enjoying wine and anti-pasta instead of staying in the tourist areas. We just didn't want to give up one sunset here for anything else.
There are three bedrooms which can accommodate 3 couples privately, and two have extra beds so good for children or singles. There are two showers, and several toilets. The small kitchen is quite adequate, but we didn't cook. We did have breakfast and light suppers which we ate in the garden.
Galluzzo is in itself wonderful. NOTHING touristy about it, but everything authentically Italian everywhere. There are multitudes of local cafes, coffee bars, restaurants, pizzarias, boutiques (at very reasonable prices), and a supermarket/deli. There is a daily open air market at the end of the road if you go to the left when coming out of the gate. Every day except Sunday. Well worth a visit. And try to go to the local supermarket on Monday morning, as it is an experience NOT TO BE MISSED! All the locals and neighbours are there, kissing and hugging, and chatting and the aisles are full of carts and everyone is cheerful and happy, and the deli there is amazing!
There's a fine dining restaurant at the street side of the villa. It was good, but costly. You can eat for a fraction of the cost anywhere else in Galluzzo. We found one restaurant at the location of the main street coming from Florence and the creek that we ate at 3x in one week. Totally Italian, local, nice clientele, and wonderful service, food and prices. We couldn't eat like that for that price anywhere in Sydney.
My negative comment on directions was that we used Google Maps/Google Earth. The information the Italian authorities gave to Google, or Google itself, made a mistake because part of the end of the road near the villa has been made into a one way street, and you cannot get there from that direction. Hopefully they have either fixed this, or the owners are providing clear directions. You must drive in from the end of the road closest to Florence, and that will take you directly to the gate.
The bus stops are at that intersection, and the bus takes 10 minutes to the middle of Florence. Easy!
