The Tuscany region
Tuscany is considered one of the most beautiful regions of Italy with stunning scenery, outstanding food and cities full of art, history and architecture. The Tuscan countryside is really lovely with its rounded hills covered in vinyards and olive groves. You can spend a day in the Chianti Area tasting wine at the vinyards or choosing oil from an olive farm, and have a typical Tuscan lunch in some little village while admiring the landscape.
There are many daily visits you can make to cities like Pisa with its leaning tower, Siena with its Piazza del Campo, Arezzo a little Medieval town with an antique fair once a month, or to smaller villages like San Gimignano, famous for its original towers, and Montecatini with its famous spa offering curative waters and beauty treatments.
Tuscany is ideal for walks or bike trips which you'll be able to take in the woods or the open countryside Other attractions include the Abetone ski resort, just an hour and a half away from Florence, and the widely acclaimed Tyrrhenean beaches just an hour away, with the social scene of their renowned locales.
Florence / Central Florence area
Florence is known as the "Cradle of the Renaissance" with its historical centre enriched by beautiful architecture which has remained intact for over five centuries. Its cultural patrimony continues to attract millions of tourists each year and it was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1982.
Everything in town is within walking distance, especially thanks to the position of our apartment, which is just 5 minutes away from the town's Cathedral, S. Maria del Fiore, with its spectacular Dome by Filippo Brunelleschi. This is the real centre of the city, and an excellent starting point for any visit.
Florence boasts some of the oldest and best known museums in the world, such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademy and the Bargello, and there are many fascinating churches full of history and important works of art, like Santa Croce, Santa Maria Novella, Santo Spirito, and many others. The city's Synagogue is also one of the most beautiful in Europe.
The architecture of buildings like Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti and other makes this city exquisitely unique. Palazzo Pitti, today home of some very important museums, is the old Medici Family residence which is surrounded by the beautiful Boboli gardens. A short walk away is the Ponte Vecchio, the famous bridge on the river Arno with its particular structure and jewellery shops, and the well known "Lungarni" promenades for a stroll along the river.
When you get tired of all the tourism, there are still many things you can do, such as explore one of the many markets around town, visit the numerous small artisan workshops and have a meal ot one of the traditional restaurants. It is possible to get lost in the labyrinth of narrow streets where you really get the feeling of being in an authentic Medieval town.
Florence is situated in the Arno valley, which makes it very easy to take a bus up to the surrounding hills to enjoy breathtaking views from the Piazzale Michelangelo, Settignano and Fiesole, the old Etruscan town with its original amphitheatre.
How to get there
The Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport is well served by frequent flight arrivals from and departures to all of the major European cities. Airlines include AirFrance, Alitalia, Meridiana, Lufthansa, Swissair, etc.

Guestbook for Cupola Apartment
"Once again, superb! The exquisite interior and matchless panorama are without equal, not only in Florence."
"Il ricordo di Firenze sarà sempre legato alla bellezza di questa casa. Abbiamo passato una vacanza molto bella, e non la dimenticheremo mai."
"Staying at the Cupola these past days has refreshed and inspired our family on many levels. The beauty of Florence, the pervasive sense of history, the fabulous cuisine, the time spent wandering throughout this fascinating city. The apartment was central to our stay. It is beautiful and tastefully furnished, wonderfully located, spacious and so very well equipped. We loved the terraces and spent many wonderful hours listening to the bell towers chime throughout the city as we surveyed our beautiful surroundings."
The apartment is five star in every respect. The interiors are outstanding. The terraces, the penthouse deck, the modern kitchen. What more could you ask."
"Imagine--being a veteran professional photographer and living in an apartment so special that it captures the greatest (and most private) view of the fabled Duomo of Florence from every window (even the kitchen), and then to walk out the door into the heart of the city which is only two blocks away!"
