The Tuscany region

The Tuscany region

Since the early nineteenth century, Florence has been celebrated as the epitome of everything that is beautiful in Italy. For most visitors, first impression tend to confirm the myth. Nowadays, Florence is without doubt one of the finest open-air museums in the world.

Such is the wealth of monuments and artistic treasurers here, it is impossible not to find the experience an enriching one. Tuscany was the powerhouse of what has come to be as the Renaissance, and Florence is the supreme monument to European civilization's major evolutionary shift into modernity.

Beyond the lures of culture and art, however, lie more subtle charms: the simple pleasures of a pink sunset enjoyed from an old bridge, for example; or the best ice creams and tastiest cappuccinos in Europe; bustling bars and open-air cafés; fine dining under the stars; or a stroll around geranium-hung streets on a summer evening.

And not so far from Florence, lie beautiful towns such as Siena, Pisa and Arezzo, each a perfect combination of the culture, charm and beauty which makes this unusually blessed region of Italy so irresistible.

Florence

Florence

Across the street from the train station, the area around Piazza Santa Maria Novella is perhaps the most varied neighborhood in the city.

The urban streets leading to the station are pretty busy (both cars and people) while the other side of the grassy Piazza is formed by narrow, serpentine little streets, beautiful buildings, and top-notch shopping.

The area stretches from the mail railway station, a rare example of the city's modern architecture to Via Tornabuoni, the city's prime shopping center. Between these two extremes you will find a mixed bag of attractions.

Santa Maria Novella, for example is one of the city's largest and most prestigious churches, crammed with sacred art; The Santa Trinità church is home to the outstanding fresco cycle by Domenico Ghirlandaio; and the shopping street of Via della Vigna Nuova boasts the lion's share of Florence's designers. In other streets such as Borgo Ognissanti you can find an overspill of smarter stores and designer's ateliers.

Artisans' furniture and other workshops can also be found around Via della Porcellana.

Best of all: you are close to the station but, at the same time, you are in the heart of the city, only a 5-10 minute walk from all the main city monuments, churches and museums.

"Excellent facilities and location."

Apartment was excellent. It had more than enough room for my family of 7. Paolo was very kind, patient and helpful. I would highly recommend the facility to anyone. We were able to walk daily to the center of Florence either by the river or directly down city streets. We enjoyed ourselves immensely even though the temperature was in excess of 30 degrees Celsius every day. Large windows and nice breezes. There were plenty of fans. I would recommend this to anyone who asks me.

"We had a lovely stay in a very spacious cosy home."

10 family members spent day times comfortably. 7 slept in privacy and comfort. There were a further two beds but in more public areas of the very large flat. There were two good bathrooms only one shower cubicle. We liked having one bathroom with a full bath tub. It took around 30 mins to walk right into the centre of Florence. In contrast we had another small apartment (because we required full disabled facilities) in a more central place next to the Pitti palace and the noise in the centre of the City all night long with motorbikes revving up was terrible. It made us really appreciate the large apartment in its beautiful, quiet but still accessible area.

Hello Maria, I am very fine that you have enjoied so much Florence and our apartment. Thanks very much for your beautiful review. You are a splendid family and I would like to suggest you to every host of Holiday Lettings! See you soon Paolo

"Well equipped, spacious apartment in good location."

We were a party of 8 adults staying for 6 nights and there was plenty of room in this apartment. It had everything we needed - home from home. Paulo the landlord was very helpful when we arrived giving information on local shops, buses etc. We especially appreciated his recommendations for vegetarian restaurants - Il vegetariano, off the tourist track and full of locals on the two occasions we went and La Raccolta - friendly service and good food at very reasonable price at both restaurants. Good location. 20 minutes walk to city centre - can walk via shops, bars etc or along the river which is only 100m from apartment. We walked to all the major sights and galleries of Florence but bus stop only 50m down road - we used the bus to get to station when we left, very cheap. It was the first time in Florence for all of us and we really enjoyed it. First time we had rented an apartment for a city break in Europe but based on this experience would certainly do again.

Hello Stephen, thanks very much for your beautiful review. I am very fine that you have enjoied so much Florence and our apartment. It is very important for the onwers of the apartments rented to have the reviews from their guest/friends because they are very important for other people in their choices for the locations that they have to rent. You are a very nice and clean family and I suggest you to every host of Holiday Lettings! See you soon Paolo

"Un bon endroit pour séjourner à Florence entre amis"

Grand appartement bien équipé et bien situé pour séjourner entre amis. Le centre ville est proche sans les inconvénients de l'hyper centre. Des petits commerces à proximité ainsi que des places de parking gratuites. Accueil très sympathique avec beaucoup de disponibilité. Le quartier est calme malgré la proximité d'un boulevard un peu bruyant à certaines heures. Une location à recommander.

Thanks, we are very happy to have meet you from great France. You are beautiful guests, you are our new friends! We hope that you come back in Italy early. Sincerely Paolo and Graziella
