The Tuscany region

Tuscany is a region of central Italy: is bordered to the north by Emilia Romagna, to the east by the Marche and Umbria, on the south by Lazio, north-west borders for a short distance with Liguria and to the west is the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is divided into prvince of Florence (the regional capital), Prato, Pisa, Lucca and Grosseto, Arezzo, Siena, Pistoia Livorno and Massa Carrara. The name of this region comes from its ancient inhabitants, the Tusci, a name that was given to the Etruscans by the Romans. Tuscany is renowned throughout the world for its art, its history, its landscapes and its typical products. Among the many cities are very famous Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca and some medieval villages such as San Gimignano and Montepulciano. A special feature of this beautiful region is definitely the natural heritage and the great variety of landscapes alternating fact and the beautiful green hills of Chianti and the Maremma Park, mountain landscapes of the Apuan Alps or Abetone, the thermal parks Chinciano and Montecatini Terme and finally the very famous seaside resorts of Versilia Argentario and the Island of Elba.

Florence

Florence is the capital of the region of Tuscany, is situated on the banks of the Arno River (which divides it into two parts) and is surrounded by hills. Its territory is divided into six areas that are Area Florence, Mugello, Florentine Mountains, Valdarno and Chianti Fiorentino, Empoli Val d'Elsa, which collect the second homogeneous characteristics of the 43 municipalities. The history of this highly renowned city began in Roman times under the name of Florentia, became caught between the medieval city walls and towers and achieved fame in the fifteenth century art, architecture, politics and culture like no other. In the second half of the nineteenth century was the capital of Italy (for five years) and this event has imprinted an indelible footprint to the whole structure of the city. It 'still the Renaissance who scored more annoverandola Florence as a true cradle of art: from that period remain churches, palaces, villas and works that are preserved in major museums such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Palatina Palazzo Pitti.

"PERFECT PLACE"

Perfect place for self-catering holiday in Florence. Walkable distance to the centre (including food market) and train station, bus stop and a corner shop just opposite, sizable supermarket nearby. The flat has everything you could ever imagine needing on (even long) holiday - fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, fridge/freezer, hair dryer, iron & board, drying rack, big wardrobe, TV. Very quiet. Only downside is the lack of AC (fan is provided) but I imagine that is only a problem when you are stupid enough to visit the city during the hottest time of the year and are unused to the heat:) The host and his partner are very nice too and provided selection of drinks upon arrival. Would definitely recommend.

"florence. good indipendent studio"

My partner and I stayed in this studio apartment for five nights in mid November 2013. The apartment is accurately depicted in the photos. Basically there is one single room partially split in two. On the entrance side is a nice kitchen space; the other side of the room has the beds. The bathroom is on the side. Although not central (i.e. tourist central) the apartment is very well located, being within walking distance of the train station or a very short taxi ride. In terms of being near the Duomo and centre of town the apartment is about a 15 to 20 minute walk. This was perfectly fine by us as we like to walk. You could probably catch transport if you wanted to but we never felt the need to do so. The furtherest we ever walked was about 30 mins from the apartment to the other side of the river (the Pizzi Gallery). The apartment itself has an excellent kitchen- the oven works well, there are very good pots and pans for making even an elaborate dinner, and a stove top coffee maker is provided (though no kettle!). There is a nice little table to eat on and about four chairs. The washing machine is easy to use and there is a good drying rack provided. The heater by the window does a good job of drying. Around the beds there is a lot of room to store luggage and coats. The bed (two pushed next to each other for a couple) was moderately comfortable. I would habe preferred another pillow I guess. Depsite that, the bedding is good enough to sleep on for the night, much better than the budget hotel we stayed at in Napoli and are currently enduring in Venice. The bathroom is a bit narrow but you can work around it. there is excellent heat and water pressure in the shower. The internet works although the signal is not always that strong and it is a little slow. Still it is functional for people who want to read things and send emails etc. Finally, Francesco is a very good host. He met us with a lady who explained everything very well to us and always responded quickly to my emails. We did not need to ask for much once we were there because it was all very easy to use and worked well. This is a good apartment to stay in Florence especially if you are on a long trip and want some self sufficiency with cleaning clothes and cooking dinner.

"Great Location."

My sister and I stayed here for a week while visiting Florence. Th property was a small unit in a secure apartment building on the 2nd floor, with a lift.It was a 5-10 minute easy walk to the Central station and the city. Opposite was a small grocery store and there were many restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The apartment was perfect for our needs. Very compact, but very functional. We didn't spend a lot of time in it, but did cook the odd meal. There was wifi in the building Francesco was a perfect host and answered all our queries and sorted any problems out immediately. We enjoyed meeting him and Petra. We would stay there again, but I do think it was really only suitable for 2 people. This property was excellent value for money.

"The perfect vacation in florence"

Francesco is a great host! The satisfaction of clients is the most important for him, so he tries to adapt to everyone and to meet all their needs. Always talkative and typically Italian friendliness! The studio is newly renovated and all equipment is new! Beware of high risk that you will not want to leave

"A cosy, quiet and luminous studio with privacy"

Francesco is very friendly and a nice host. The fashionable studio was totally independent and equipped very well - even for a long stay, we were nicely surprised! It was clean and smelled fresh. We appreciated the mosquito net too as it was spring. The studio is on the second floor and very quiet - no "italian noise" during the night! :-) The position is not far from the centre, neither from the central station. It tooks just few minutes to reach it on foot, moreover ther is a direct bus (like 2 stops). Right on the corner (about 30 meters) there is a bar where we could have breakfast and right opposite the door there was a small shop where we could buy essenstial food. We had a very nice stay, higly reccomended!
