The Oltrarno - "Across the Arno" is the artisans' neighborhood, still packed with workshops where craftspeople hand-carve furniture and hand-stitch leather gloves. It began as a working-class neighborhood to catch the overflow from the expanding medieval city on the Arno's opposite bank, but it also became a rather chic area for aristocrats to build palaces on the edge of the countryside. The largest of these, the Pitti Palace, later became the home of the grand dukes and today houses a set of museums second only to the Uffizi. Behind it spreads the landscaped baroque fantasies of the Boboli Gardens, Florence's best park. Masaccio's frescoes in Santa Maria della Carmine here were some of the most influential of the early Renaissance.

The Tuscany region

There is a lot to see and do in Tuscany, the difficulty is really where to start.

Certainly most should start with Florence, then continue on to Siena and Pisa.

The roll call of città di arte, cities of art, is daunting: Arezzo, Cortona, San Gimignano and Lucca are all striking.

The more you come to know the region, the more extraordinary Tuscany appears. Enjoy your visit!

Florence

Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany and the birthplace of Renaissance. It is built around river Arno and known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The historic center of Florence attracts millions of tourists every year and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.

These 4 women spattered the bedroom's wall. It seems they broke a bottle of wine or something like that and took away the single bed's linens!
Even they didn't tell me anything about it when i asked everything was okay in the apartment.

"Great location"

Great location for this apartment just off Ponte Vecchio, close to restaurants and easy walk of the main tourist attractions. Small compact apartment but spacious enough for 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Great to have wifi and a washing machine.
