Lovely apartment in Florence
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Our apartments( I'm the owner of the apt ref 7395 too) are situated on the 3rd floor in a small building on a silent and narrow street between the river Arno and Tornabuoni street, a few steps from Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery, very close to all shops, banks and pharmacies.
The 2 properties were indeed 1 big property that we have divided 10 years ago.
It was my grandparents apartment...my grandfather won the apartment playing the lottery in 1960.
They have been living there until their death, when my parents and I decided to restore and divide in 2 smaller apartments.
Needless to say that the two apartments are for me something very special...a place where I grew up and loved.
we have restored them with love and passion, taking care to preserve the rustic tuscan look....the greater part of the furniture belonged to my grandparents.. The Dante and Beatrice apartments are a little piece of Florence in Florence. despite the 3rd floor you are really in the centre of everything!
The furniture, the decorations, the original ceilings...everything speaks about the rustic and tuscan feeling.
I think that beyond visiting a place you have above all to live it...and your holiday apartment has to give you an emotion when you enter in.
It has to make you feel at home away home. That's what I try to convey throught my 2 littles "jewels"!
The 21897 has been recently restored by us ourselves according to the rustic Tuscan taste. The apartment is composed by a lovely bedroom (twin or double), a large and sunny Tuscan kitchen, a living room with a tv corner and 1,5 sofabed, a mezzanine with a double sofa bed, and a bathroom (with shower). It can accommodate 2-5 people.

The Tuscany region
Tuscany is a charmed land, equally blessed by the genius of man and nature, and often by the combined efforts of both. Think of the vineyards: rows of baby green vines that manage somehow to march in arrow-straight formation up the gently rolling hillsides, bounded by single files of darker green cypress trees, snaking sandy roads leading to rust-coloured farmhouses and moss-coated castles, symmetrically rounded hilltops surmounted by towns so homogeneous as to seem one single building. Every inch of land has been sculpted, first by the elements and then by generations of inhabitants whose goals were always twofold: make the land produce as much as possible, make the land as beautiful as possible. Tuscany enchants us today because it holds together as a region, from the tiniest hamlet to Florence the Magnificent. For the living proof, take a short walk one day along the sides of the Belvedere in Florence: you will leave behind the traffic and suddenly find yourself strolling down quiet lanes bounded by tall stone walls, cypress trees and creamy-coloured villas. You could be anywhere in Tuscany, and we dare you not to fantasize about living here.
The cultural and historical impact of Florence (or Firenze) is overwhelming. Close up, however, the city is one of Italy's most atmospheric and pleasant, retaining a strong resemblance to the small late-medieval centre that contributed so much to the cultural and political development of Europe.
Its striking buildings, formidable galleries and treasure-crammed churches attest to the Florentine love of display. Even long after it had set on the political and economic horizon, Florence upheld its elegant appearance: its skyline, all russet rooftops and lofty domes, is indeed picturesque.

"Il sapore di una casa relamente abitata da fiorentini, centrale e accogliente"
Sono stata con la mia famiglia (mamma, papà e quattro bambini, di cui una sotto i tre anni). Abbiamo trovato la padrona di casa pronta ad accoglierci, anche se era l'ora di pranzo del giorno di … More

"Authentic. Comfortable. Convenient."
My family and I stayed in 4 different rental properties in Rome, Venice, Vanzago & Florence, and this apartment was probably our favourite rental. The apartment was spacious, clean, conveniently located and had authentic Italian charm. Elena was very helpful and nice, and she and her family have done a nice job in furnishing this apartment. A short walk to the main tourist attractions (Ponte Vecchio, the duomo, etc) and across the Ponte Carraia (closest bridge to the apartment) was Gelateria La Carraia — where we enjoyed the best gelato that we had during our entire 2-week Italy visit! You do have to walk up 5 flights of stairs though, and after a tiring day of traveling, it's a tough go to haul heavy suitcases up. But well worth it, I think.

"Charming apartment, centrally located"
The apartment was centrally located, spacious and warm and friendly. My friends and I stayed here for Christmas. We only realised on arrival there was no oven in the apartment. The owner brought a brand new electric oven for us to use as well as extra crockery we needed. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She also directed us to local places to eat great food and buy fresh pasta to cook at home.
The only down sides were some sewerage type smells in the bathroom (perhaps something you can't get away from in central Florence) and a common stairwell a bit difficult for carrying luggage (although our host helped us on the way up, which was very kind!).

"Good location and value"
My husband and I and my father stayed 3 nights here. It was quiet though in the middle of the city and walking distance to all the best sites. The kitchen was well appointed and we cooked several times. The bedroom was comfortable and my father had his own private space in the loft. The bathroom was also fine. All in all just what we needed for our lovely days in Florence!

"Your Italian Grandfather's Apartment"
The only, and I do mean only downside to the apartment is that it is five stories up without a lift. That was no problem for us, but if stairs bother you choose another apartment.
The apartment is charming and spacious. There is a separate bedroom and a loft with a double bed. All the furnishings are heavy farmhouse antiques. The bedroom fronts a quiet street just blocks from Sante Croce and the Arno. The living room, kitchen and dining room have windows onto the inner courtyard. The kitchen looks circa 1950 but is very functional though small. Everything is clean welcoming and attractive. The owner is generous with the towels and the kitchen supplies are more than adequate.
thank you for your nice review.
I'd just want to point that the apartment is at the 3rd floor, no fifth ( 60 steps total, 20 steps each floor) and that the kitchen is was completely renovated in 2007; sure it looks older, maybe beginning of 1900's ( it's that we wanted!) as we have tried to mantain all the ancient materials: Carrara marbre and handcraft ceramic tiles; also the sink and the taps are early 1900's. As you have seen we don't like Ikea, and everything in the apt has a rustic old style.
Thanks again for your stay with us!

"Fabulous Tuscan retreat"
Beautifully laid out in the eves of a typical Florentine building, the Dante apartment is delightful. Elena Colivicchi is the perfect host, her English is wonderful and the welcome as warm as you could hope for. Booking and arranging the stay was easy and straightforward, Elena was happy to meet us at a time that suited, and the apartment was ready and waiting. She gave us a wonderful introduction to the city and even recommended restaurants and museums. (Follow her recommendations, they were all great). Clean, bright, airy, this homely apartment is very well stocked with everything we needed for four days stay in Florence - the washing machine and air-con in particular made the stay even our easier. The apartment is perfectly situated a few minutes walk from everything in the city, but on a side street quiet enough for us to get away from the hussle and bussle during the day and to sleep soundly every night. The Dante apartment felt like a home from home, yet wonderfully Florentine. Great value for money, wonderfully welcoming and a perfect retreat in the heart of this fabulous city. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back.
