About the home

Comfortable newly restored apartment with free parking and splendid views. The apartment is located in the ancient hamlet of Ponte alla Badia which is reached from a bridge on the boundary of Florence and Fiesole. The building was constructed around the 1600’s as a convent but was converted into apartments in more recent times.

The panoramas from front and rear terrace are of fine villas surrounded by olive groves, Roman pines and tall cypresses. There has been little change in this tranquil scenery since the renaissance. Given this bucolic scene, it is difficult to believe that Ponte alla Badia is only 10 minutes from the centre of Florence by bus.

The apartment is located on the second floor of the building and is tastefully furnished and fully equipped.

The apartment living area is in open plan with the second bedroom on a mezzanine floor over the intimate dining area. The apartment has air conditioning and a modern gas central heating system.

The main bedroom has queen size bed and double door leading to an outside terrace overlooking the river and hills opposite, ideal for relaxing with an evening aperitif. The bedroom on the mezzanine is equipped with a single bed and there is sleeping accommodation for one more on a convertible sofa.

The peaceful ambience and convenience of this historical and picturesque location and the comfort of the apartment make this the ideal place for those visiting Florence but needing a restful place to retire to after the bustle of tourism in the city centre.

The owners also offer a split vacation with part time at this property and part in their luxurious villa in Barga thus providing a city and country experience of Tuscany. Barga is a delightful little hill town about 60 miles from Florence.

Florence is an excellent centre from which to explore the wonders of Tuscany. Chianti, SIena, Mugello, Pisa and Lucca are all within easy reach. The famous beaches of Versilia are also reached easily within easy reach via autostrada.

All the historical and artistic sights of Florence are within a 10 minute journey and yet the apartment is located in a delightful green and tranquil residential area. The building in which the apartment is located is also within a short stroll from the European University.
