About the home

Appartamento Conti Guerrini A is a nice 50-square-meter (about 540 square
feet) apartment which sleeps two people. It is located in the center of
Florence, 400 meters (about 440 yards) from the Cathedral of Santa Maria del
Fiore, 10 minutes from the railway station, in an alley which is reasonably
quiet for being in the heart of the city (it is closed to traffic except for
residents, tourists and deliveries).

The apartment is equipped with air-conditioning and winter heating. A broadband Internet connection is available for your laptop at no charge, Wi-Fi or through a standard Ethernet port (bring your own cable or borrow one at the
reception).  Daily maid service is available as well.

Appartamento Conti Guerrini A has a large double bedroom with a king-size bed,
a living area with a kitchenette and an elegant bathroom with shower or bath tub with shower head.


The building

The building where Appartamento Conti Guerrini A is located dates back to 1700.
It was originally owned by the noble and rich Counts Guerrini, and has been
carefully restored in 2006. The building has been divided into 12 elegant
vacation apartments, located on the first, second, third and fourth floor. On the ground floor you will find a reception
desk, open in the morning and in the afternoon, where a concierge will be
available to offer advice and assistance. Each floor is reached by an
elevator or by an ancient stairway made of Firenzuola stone, the characteristic
grey stone of the Tuscan buildings.

On the ground floor there is also a charming, tiny, inner yard, which is
equipped with just one table and a few chairs.  This table can be reserved
for a romantic dinner, if you wish.  Although there is no restaurant in the
building itself, you can order meals from a choice of local restaurants that
will deliver, to your apartment or to the small yard.

Even though nor the building itself nor the apartments have clothes-washing
facilities, you will find that just across the street there is a laundry shop
with both token laundry or serviced laundry.


The apartment

In the building there are 4 apartments of type A.  Your apartment might
be located on the first, second, third or fourth floor (which can be reached by an
elevator).  If you have a preference regarding the floor, please let us
know. While it is not possible to guarantee that you will be accommodated on any
specific floor, we will try to satisfy your requirement on a
first-come-first-served basis.

From the entrance door you will enter a short corridor that will take you to
the living area, the bedroom and the bathroom. The rooms have elegant wood
floors, and are furnished with modern designer pieces. The original
double-height windows have double-glazed glasses that allow for a reasonably
quiet environment even in the heart of a busy city. 

The living area has a kitchenette, equipped with a 2-ring electric hob,
microwave oven, toaster, and refrigerator with freezer.  There is also a
table and four chairs, as well as a comfortable sofa.

The bedroom has a king-size bed, and it is equipped with satellite
television.  The windows open on a small alley at the back of the building,
and you will have a side view of the Brunelleschi Rotunda.

The bathroom, which has a shower or a bath tub with shower head, is spacious, well-fitted and classy, made
in black marble. If you have a preference regarding the shower or bath tub, please let us
know. While it is not possible to guarantee that we will be able to satisfy yoour request, we will do our best to oblige, on a first-come-first-served basis.


The location

Appartamento Conti Guerrini A is situated in the center of Florence, within
walking distance of the most important sights, such as the Uffizi Gallery, the
Ponte Vecchio, Giotto's bell tower, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with
Brunelleschi's dome, and the many other historical and artistic treasures that
the historical center keeps. 

The area is very characteristic, made up of small alleys, many of which are
closed to traffic except for residents, deliveries and tourist heading to their
accommodation. A car is not necessary to stay at Appartamento Conti
Guerrini A, but if you have one you will be able to park it in a nearby garage,
which offers valet service, or at a number of paid public parking lots.

Restaurants, cafes, shops, grocery stores are all readily available and
within walking distance as well.

Appartamento Conti Guerrini A is indeed a great base if you wish to visit
Florence and return to relax into a spacious, elegant apartment at the end of a
long sightseeing day.

The Tuscany / Firenze Province region

Versilia is an area of 20 km sandy beaches located in the north of the region. The seaside with the colourful bathing areas is rich in bars and meeting places. Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Massarosa, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema and Viareggio are the towns of this beautiful coast.

The Florence area

Florence, acknowledged by Unesco as a World Heritage Site, is home to some of the most famous works of art on earth. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with an historical center which is itself an open air museum, given the overwhelming abundance of monuments, churches and palaces, mostly masterpieces of architecture.

Florence got its name from the Romans, in the I century, who founded a small settlement along the Arno river, not far from the Etruscan village of Fiesole, whose ruins can still be visited nowadays. They called it Florentia, the florid city.

And indeed florid it became. From 1200 to 1700 Florence was one of the capitals of art, culture and international trade of the civilized world. For over 500 years an incredible amount of work of arts was produced and collected in Florence, which is nowadays visited by no less than 8 millions of tourists every year. Sights such as Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi, the Ponte Vecchio, the gardens of Boboli and the magnificent Cathedral with the bell tower designed by Giotto are just a few of the sights not to be missed, along with a healthy Fiorentina steak on the bone and a glass of good Chianti wine.
