About the home
WELCOME IN wwwuffiziapartment.info
Our charming and romantic split-level apartment is located in a pedestrian street (car access is restricted to taxis only), just behind the Uffizi Gallery MAIN ENTRANCE ( ACROSS THE STREET ! ) a mere 1 minute from Piazza della Signoria, less than 2 minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio!
Uffizi Apartment is superbly nestled in the very heart of historic Florence, in an early medieval street behind to the Uffizi Gallery main entrance. As you leave the apartment's building, turn right and walk down the street through the arch of Corridoio Vasariano (the Vasari Corridor, an elevated enclosed passageway which connects Palazzo Vecchio with Palazzo Pitti, passing over the Uffizi Gallery): you will be on the bankside of the River Arno, close to Ponte Vecchio, the famed bridge that houses a moltitude of goldsmiths and jewellery shops, with its medieval workshops overhanging the bridge.
Opposite the apartment's building is the ancient and famous Georgofili Academy (Accademia dei Georgofili) the first public association in Europe specialized in agricultural studies and conservation of the territory since 1753. You will also note the older Torre dei Pulci (a tower deriving its name from a noble family which owned the building), still visibile from the street.
This is a dream location for art lovers!
The apartment is exceptionally convenient and such a time saver for anyone looking to see most of Florence's sights in a short while. Easily, without car, bus, or taxi, you could live the most of this wonderful city, as shown in guides and art books. The area is safe and has plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and theatres.
In front of the building, a lovely olive tree - symbol of peace wanted by Florence community - will be your point of reference, always showing you the way back home.

The Tuscany / Firenze Province region

Tuscany is truly a world apart, with its beautiful cities, breathtaking landscapes, art treasures, heavenly food and wine...
Florence is not only art and museums. The fun in Florence never ends: classical theatres or theatres with original performances, cinemas, disco clubs, pubs, wine bars attract a lively crowd all night long. The city is also an active cultural centre and organizes exhibitions and art or music festivals and folklore. The entertainment options are varied and exciting like half-day or full-day sightseeing tours and bike tours.
Florence features some wonderful Italian restaurants. Not only do they offer great Italian cuisine, many are situated in picturesque piazzas and other attractive locations. Florence is very famous for the bistecca alla fiorentina (florentine beef steak), the ribollita (traditional tuscan soup , the trippa (tripe). Tuscany is famous all over the world for its valuable and precious wines.
The Florence / Central Florence area
The area where is located the Uffizi Apartament has plenty of shops, restaurants, pizza-shops, coffee bars, italian fast food where you can taste a great panino (sandwich) and a glass of Chianti! Here are some tips.
In the same street as the apartment is a recently opened wine shop that offers a vast range of Tuscan delicatessen like local cheeses (pecorino di Pienza) and cold cuts (such as salumi di cinta senese), all artisan-made. Around the corner, you can have lunch at Cafè Lambertesca - buffet freddo which serves breakfasts (cappuccino and brioches), hot first courses and second dishes at lunch time, all made according to Florentine tradition. Opposite the Cafè Lambertesca is the Antico Fattore, an old established restaurant that in 1931 conceived a literary prize. It became a real cenacle of the florentine and italian culture. In those years the place was frequented by two future Nobel for the Italian literature: Eugenio Montale and Salvatore Quasimodo. In 1989 the Antico Fattore literary prize was awarded to Toni Morrison (pseudonym of Chloe Anthony Wofford, USA) who was later to receive the Nobel Prize for literature (1993).
Among nearby markets, we recommend Mercato del Porcellino (Porcellino's Market, also known as the Straw Market), famous for hand-made embroidery, leather goods and tradional Florentine crafts. For grocery shopping, do not miss the central S. Lorenzo Market, where you can find everything you need: meat, fish, vegetables, fruits and the best tuscan and italian cheeses.
As for historical cafés, you must visit the Caffè Paszkowski: the beauty of the indoor sitting areas in early '900 style is an ideal frame to taste a good tea or a house appetizer. In 1991 it has been declared an Italian National Monument. In the same square you'll also find Caffè Gilli, the only surviving Belle Époque coffee house in Florence today. In the warm season you can sit at one of the tables outside on piazza della Repubblica, where musicians play classical music and romantic songs: enjoy the famous Italian Café Concerto!
At the apartment, english books about art and architecture of Florence are available for your enjoyment. You'll also find an up-to-date listing of all the city's events and exhibitions and a guide with the owner's tips about restaurants and shopping.

Most of Floence's most famous landmarks on your doorstep. Out of the front door you are facing the Uffizi Gallery across the street, with the entrance around the corner. Under the arch at the end of the street below Cosimo de Medici's Vasari Corridor are the River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio. If Doctor Who came to Florence, this is surely where the Tardis would appear!! The duplex apartment is a wonderful homely base, and you never saw anywhere more comprehensibly equipped. Rosella has thought of everything you could possibly need. Needless to say, we'll be back. |

Guestbook for TUSCAN CHARMING UFFIZI APT
"Centrally located. A few steps from the heart of major cultural attractions yet tucked away from the throngs of tourists down a narrow medieval street. Here the micro neighbourhood drips of history. You can see it. You can taste it with all of its wonderful foods and drinks. You can feel how it used to be four hundred years or more ago. Rossella's listing photos were right on. She is an Etruscan sweetheart, the kind of person that a weary traveller would want to come upon to feel at home in a foreign city. Rossella is warm, helpful and generous with her time. She will answer any questions that you have. If she doesn't know the answer, heck she'll rush off to find out and tell you right away. Her apartment is a great value for the price. Rosella will provide you with wonderfully useful information about what to see and how to live in Florence. We would not hesitate to stay at her apartment again when we return to this ancient/modern city brimming with beauty, charm, vitality, and awe-inspiring sights. When the church bell rings, you will find yourself transported back in time. Inside Rossella's apartment life is quiet. Outside the apartment, there isa world to see. A part of us is still there. We can taste the bottle of Chianti that you left for us, the Firenze Arabica coffee, and the breakfast biscuits. Thank you, Rossella, from the bottom of our hearts. We miss you. And thank you for treating us to a wonderful dinner at the Trattoria Antico Fattore. Robert and Donna Fields-NothernCalifornia -May 2010-
"What a wonderful experience! My husband and I rented Rossella's beautiful apartment for our Christmas HolidayAs a private owner not working with an agency, Rossella was able to provide hospitality above and beyond our expectations . Her warmth and generosity were so evident in everything about the apartment itself. The furnishings, the gifts for her renters, the dining certificate to the restaurant around the corner . It was like being at home. The location is EXCELLENT. Everything is within walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet. We felt very comfortable .We chose our lodging based on the recommendations of others and we made a wise choice. We would HIGHLY recommend Rossella's apartment to everyone." "If you want to live as a true Florentine, you will enjoy this charming medieval apartment with the best location in the city, bar none! I recently spent a week in December and was delighted with all the amenities. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom has a great big bathtub, and the kitchen, though small, had everything for making coffee and quick meals. The utilities are extra, but it only added 11 euros to the rental rate! The weather outside was in the mid-50 degrees F, but I didn't need to turn on the heat because the walls are so thick and insulating. I was very comfortable in this apartment and Rossella, as everyone has noted, is a wonderful and thoughtful hostess. I would recommend this place for a true Florentine experience ." "My stay in the Uffizi apartment exceeded my expectations. Rosella's hospitality was second to none. She provided many wonderful treats, tastes of Florence. The apartment was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is situated in the heart of historical Florence. Steps from the Uffizi, yards from the Arno River and Ponte Vecchio and the Piazza Signoria. I walked everywhere! It is also very safe. As a woman travelling on her own, walking to and from the apartment in the evenings was not a concern. Rosella's hospitality added to my trip. I will and have recommended this apartment to family and friends. Thank you Rosella for adding to the enjoyment of my trip to Florence". Ann , WI USA/Co. Waterford Ireland 07/20/09
LOCATON,LOCATION,LOCATON !!
We just returned from a two-week stay at Uffizi Apartment; it was everything we hoped it would be. But the location--two minute walk to the Uffizi, three minutes to the Ponte Vecchio--was quite incredible! I think we walked to almost every site in town in less than 15 minutes. We typically walked back to the apartment for lunch and downtime before heading out for the afternoon adventure; it's so close to everything that was no problem at all. The apartment itself is very cozy and comfortable. The two levels with the bedroom and bath up are wonderful if someone wants to retire sooner than the other. Rossella has a great English library of art and history books that provide hours of entertainment and fill in holes in your knowledge of Florentine history. The apartment was clean and warm (it was quite cool this time of year in Florence). Utilities were extremely reasonable for our two weeks; less than I expected. The photos on the web site nicely captured the ambience of the space and appointments--nothing luxurious but very clean and comfortable as well as being very quiet--no traffic sound at all. Just the hourly chimes from a nearby belfry. We cooked the majority of our meals in the apartment. It was easy and convenient and saved a great deal of expense--dining out in Florence is pricey. All the necessary equipment was there; we just went to local grocery stores every day to buy our food. There's a wonderful Trattoria called Antico Fattore just around the corner from Uffizi Apartment. We had three meals there that were wonderful and the staff was great fun. Not many tourists, just locals. We were very happy at Uffizi Apartment and quickly settled in. We would highly recommend it for a couple.Jim & Renee (Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA) 02/04/11
