About the home

Our log cabin and lake are located just on the outskirts of Flers at La Selle La Forge. And offer the perfect family holiday. In the well renowned Lower Normandy country side, very green very picturesque and very quiet. Although you will be in your own secluded accommodation you are only a few minutes from other local amenities like markets, bars and restaurants. If you decide to stay on the property for the day there is plenty to do for children and adults.

 If you like the outdoors walking, riding, fishing etc, this is the place for you. We also have 2 more cabins you can hire. Contact owner for further details, or please look at our web site.

At La Selle La Forge you are going to love the surroundings that you will be living in, your own private decking, lake, bbq area and petanque. Very beautiful ENVIRONMENT. The lake is 1 full acre in size with carp upto 30lb in weight more tench, bream, rudd, roach and perch. The bbq area is under a fantasic timber frame next to the petanque playing area (bowling). Also for the kids you have on the grass by the lake badminton facilities.

The Normandy / Orne region

The Orne occupies part of inland Normandy known for its meadows, orchards, forests of oak and beech trees, rivers, half-timbered houses, and traditional farm houses. Gastronomy is another good reason to come here with creams, apple and pear brandy (calvados), cider and soft cheeses such as Camembert being produced here. Not forgetting your local wines plus wines from all over france at your disposal. Flers is located well so we have mild winters and hot summers thanks to its proximity to La mange and the effect of the sea.

The Flers area

A forty minute drive away is the town of Falaise where William the Conqueror was born, he was Duke of Normandy from 1035 and King of England from 1066 till his death. A magnificent trip would be to travel to Bayeux which is a 1hr drive, but well worth it to look at the Bayeux Tapestry. Also in the same area you have all the WWII museums and beaches like Omaha, sword and juno etc, which was the location for the DDAY landings. Another important thing to mention for you to do is horse riding, with out property we own two horses called Firefly and Jimma waiting to take you out on cart or horse back. Other things to do in and around the area are Kayaking, Golf 5 minute walk away, Paragliding, Paintball, Laser quest, bowling, swimming and many more. Just ask and we try to sort it out for you.

Coming from the UK you can travel by Ferry or by Train. If you travel by train yes it is only a 25 minute crossing but you will have a 5 hour drive from Calais. Ferry to Caen from Portsmouth and you only have an hour drive to La Selle La Forge.

My wife and I spent two weeks at the fisherman's cabin with our 3year old daughter and our baby son, we had a wonderful time and left happy and content. We will be back next year.

Hi Paul, Marcela & Rocky,

Hope you are all well. Needless to say, we had a great time at your place
again this year. The only problem being that the time seems to go so fast.
We managed more time on our bikes this year too, what with that beautiful
Vois Vert and the surrounding small villages all easy to cycle to. PLUS, I
managed to catch one of your big carp. I must spend more time hunting for
these beasties next year. Rose misses the quiet and beautiful surroundings
as it’s great for her painting and sketching. In saying that, I think she
misses the plonk, good food and excellent company we always enjoy whilst
staying at La Cabane du Pêcheur. Don’t change a thing, just be there for
next year.

From the moment we arrived from the short drive from Caen we new we was set for a great holiday. My children always had something to do and us adults could relax and enjoy the surrounding, piece and quite and the Sun.

A few words about the times we have stayed at your place. First it is very easy to find and get to with all the good road network wether you are coming dover/ calais or portsmouth/caen. And when you get there it is nice quiet and peaceful. The cabins have everything you need from cooking for yourself to washing, you can have a barbeque in any weather cos its under a pergola. You can get to all the places of interest within about 1 hours drive and the roads are very good to drive on.
Thats why we keep coming back.

My family found the website and the pictures and description looked so inviting.

From the moment we enquired about renting a cabin, we knew this was the right
place. Everyone we emailed was so polite, friendly and informative.

When we arrived, the place surpassed our expectations. It was an idyllic
environment. The greenery, the peace and quiet, the badminton, the bocci ball
and the lake with fishing were all more than you could ask for.

Our three children (8,6 and 2) all loved it and never asked, "We're
bored--there's nothing to do."

The site is nestled in the Normandy and the many attractions of the region are
only a short drive away.

What more can you ask for in a vacation if you want a tranquil setting to get
away from the stresses of modern day life.

Hello Walker family, had a fantastic holiday at Cabane du pecheur with my family Sam and Amber. It is my little piece of heaven very quiet and peaceful. I caught 15 good sized Carp and lost a few as well. Amber had a wonderful couple of days on the Horses and also enjoyed the good weather sun bathing with her mum reading and relaxing.
